A list of puns related to "1914 Boston College football team"
Background, I am a support staff member of an SEC football team. We all had to report on campus the night of the 24th, so we could be in attendance for Christmas day practice for the second year in a row, to prepare for a bowl game that didn't really count (for say, just the pride of winning and a ring that says "[insert bowl game] champions," rather than, "[insert bowl game] participant"). EDIT: American Football, just to clarify

With the U.S. Open starting in less than a week, I thought that it would be fun to match college teams to golfers that mirror them. Not all of these will be perfect comparisons, so donβt be too offended if you do not like who I compare your team to. I tried to focus on current golfers and and current football programs and their performance over the past ~10 years. I also had some fun by connecting golfers to their alma maters or places they have connections to.
Alabama - Tiger Woods (2000s) - The only exception I will make to not a golfer not in their current state, because it is the only thing comparable. Absolute dominance for more than a decade. The GOAT.
Clemson - Dustin Johnson - South Carolina boy. Was very good for several years, but had a big breakthrough in 2015 and has since been one of the most consistent and dominant forces in golf.
Ohio St. - Justin Thomas - Neither underrated or overrated, just really darn good and everybody respects it. Gets associated with other big names with Spieth, Fowler, and McIlroy, when he has overtaken all of them in terms of recent success.
Georgia - Brooks Koepka - When it comes to major golf, Brooks is the closest thing to vintage Tiger that isnβt Tiger. Has all of the talent in the world, but sometimes gets overshadowed by DJ.
North Carolina - (also) Brooks Koepka - Pretty darn good, but golf isnβt even his favorite sport.
Oklahoma - Jon Rahm - His talent is undoubtably elite. On the easier courses on tour, he can go way low. He has not been able to get it done in the majors for the past few years, but he always feels like a good bet.
Oregon - Tony Finau - Athletic and explosive. He is the best golfer who never seems to win. One of the faces of Nike Golf.
Michigan - Rickie Fowler - He gets a lot of hype and has a large fan base, but many hate on him for being overhyped. Had a stretch of a few years of being in contention for majors, but recently things have been ugly and he has not played well at all.
LSU - Bryson Dechambeau - When he is good, he is REALLY good, arguably the most dominant player in the world, just as dominant as prime Tiger. But he can just as well go and miss the cut when he is the betting favorite. Polarizing and controversial at times.
Auburn - Phil Mickelson - Legendary, Hall-of-Fame player. Was never ranked number 1 in the world, and was overshadowed by Tiger in both of their primes. Just when you count him out, he breaks out and wins a championship like the 2021 PGA or the 2013
... keep reading on reddit β‘Another Edit: TL;DR a lot of teams are Ferrari.
Edits: To clarify, I am only looking at the last few years in either sport. This shit post gets way too complicated if you want to pull in anything farther back than 2015 or so. I am also a casual F1 fan so a lot of my observation is causal as well. I have also added alternate picks to where i think they apply. I had a hard time deciding if Michigan or UGa applied to Ferrari yet both work on the same level.
So F1 season is in full swing and I recently had a thread where I had a comment discussion with other CFB fans comparing F1 teams to CFB programs. I figured why not make a full post to give it a deeper comparison, so here goes. (Note to F1 fans, I am really only comparing the last 5 years or so here)
Love Junes but, he's wrong about this. And he really sounds old here. Discuss.
Quite the feat!
