A list of puns related to "10th Anniversary Album"
I love Wowaka's singing of it. But something about Miku's gentle OoooOooh~~ part hits different, it felt very tranquilizing. I would love to listen to it a quality beyond Yourube's audio
So this post beat me to the punch on Be My Baby but I still wanted to talk about the Wonder World album on its 10th anniversary. Wonder Girls are definitely more known for either their earlier hits (Tell me, So Hot, Nobody) or their band stage with the excellent Reboot and Why so lonely, but their middle stage also had some great releases, including their second album Wonder World. This album features the line-up of Sunye, Sohee, Yeeun, Yubin and Hyelim, the last 3 contributing to the writing and production of 5 songs.
We have one of my favourite title tracks by them, Be My Baby, which the other post talks about more. The Biaslist also has a nice write up about it. The album also features an English Version and Remix.
G.N.O feels a little dated but its still a very fun song and I do really like the pre-chorus and this performance.
Girls, Girls is a very comforting, uplifting song, and feels even better since it was co-written by Yubin.
Me, In is probably my favourite song from the album, I absolutely love Yeeun's intro. I think some people wanted this to be the title track, I understand why they went with Be My Baby, but it would've been cool to get an MV for this song too.
Sweet Dreams and Stop are some more upbeat songs and two of my other favourites from the album.
Slowing down for the next two songs. Dear Boy is a nice soft ballad and has Yubin getting to sing at the beginning, and For a Long time/Do Go Do Go is a Yeeun/Sunye duet that I love and their voices really shine on it.
SuperB is a Sohee/Yubin duet, is pretty good but is on the lower side of the album for me. I normally love Yubin's raps and they're generally incorporated really well but I don't really like her rap that much in this song.
Act Cool is Hyelim's solo ft. SanE and is probably my least favourite of the album but I do love how confident Lim sounds. I like her solo on Reboot a lot more though.
This album started with a party song with G.N.O and it ends with one too with Nu Shoes. Just another very fun song, completely in English which I don't think I realized until writing this post.
Overall this is a very good album, with a great title track and still holds up quite well 10 years later. What's

Long story short, I had a relationship where a key thing we bonded over was The National, specifically High Violet. That relationship ended in June last year and I haven't heard a single song from the record since then. Yet on a whim the other day, I bought the anniversary version as I feel it may be time to give it a shot. That relationship is long gone and I feel ready to listen again, and even if I don't have a good time, at least the vinyl look pretty...
It seems like most of my recent Album of the Month posts have ended with some statement along the lines of: โeven if youโre not a fan of harsh vocals, this album is fairly accessible and might be a good jumping-in point for you to get your feet wet in the world of extreme metal.โ I will be making no such statement at the end of this post. In fact, I see a growing trend of the following opinion, one which I agree with -- Disarticulating Extinguishmentโs Psalms of Wrath might be one of the heaviest, most brutal death metal releases ever recorded. Even within the context of a myriad of brutal death metal compilations that have hosted a track off this beast, folks are discovering the Russian five-piece that rises above the rest in terms of sheer brutality.
Psalms of Wrath is unapologetically filthy slamming brutal death metal. For those that are already turned off by the tag, thereโs probably not much hope for reconciliation, but for those whose ears were just tickled, thereโs a gem waiting for you here. Disarticulating knows how to cut deep. Abysmally so. These grooves will carve new sulci into your cerebrum. Primordial quarter note chugs veil surprising creativity within cruel tempo changes and offbeat rhythm shifts that will revert any slam enthusiast into a drooling, stomping caveman, and they will be the happier for it.
Kirill Issakovโs vocals certainly donโt lend any legibility to the music. Though he occasionally produces half-discernable words amidst his growls, most of his work is of the cricket guttural variety, devoid of any opportunity for the listener to follow the printed lyrics. His craft in the form is superb, expressing a range from the most abyssal bolks to high exhaled squeals evoking a swarm of locusts, though he trends around a tone in between the two. Lev Kurganskiyโs drums should also not be overlooked here as his rhythmic inventiveness is half the reason for Psalmsโ groovy savagery. Utilizing a very distinct and sharp cymbal tone, his primitive percussion beatdowns punch their way through the carpet of chugs in a way that brings the ferocity to the next level.
As the album title might suggest, all the lyrics are taken from the Psalms, and indeed wrathful selections thereof. In particular, Psalms 9, 18, 58, 65, and 91 make appearances across the runtime. Granted, the utterance of the words are not made with any intelligible form, but at least lyric-readers will gain some exposure to the Word of God, which can never be taken for grant
