This is Part 2-D-ι, the direct continuation of 2-D-θ, which you can find here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AttackOnRetards/comments/s4x1dk/continuation_of_my_previous_posts_about_the/

Political History

EARLY MIDDLE AGES (476-900 AD) [read more here]

In the centuries after the departure of the Romans from Britain, four major circles of influence emerged within the borders of what is now Scotland. In the east were the Picts, whose kingdoms eventually stretched from the river Forth to Shetland. The first identifiable king to have exerted a superior and wide-ranging authority, was Bridei mac Maelchon (r. c. 550–84), whose power was based in the Kingdom of Fidach and his base was at the fort of Craig Phadrig near modern Inverness. After his death leadership seems to have shifted to the Fortriu, whose lands were centred on Strathearn and Menteith and who raided along the eastern coast into modern England. Christian missionaries from Iona appear to have begun the conversion of the Picts to Christianity from 563.

In the west were the Gaelic (Goidelic)-speaking people of Dál Riata with their royal fortress at Dunadd in Argyll, with close links with the island of Ireland, from which they brought with them the name Scots. In 563 a mission from Ireland under St. Columba

You know the term “unskilled labor” always bothered me. Have you ever: Made a Big Mac? French Fries in a fryer? Made breakfast at iHOP? Carried a tray full of drinks? Dealt with shitty customers? Driven a forklift? This requires skill and it’s insulting to decent, hardworking people.

Terms like this take away from peoples dignity. We need people like the McDonald’s worker and the forklift operator and the waiter and the busboy. Those people serve and are as important if not more than the CEO. Yet they are treated like trash.

SMH.

The Tale of Faegus and Áed

In a small village, in the low-lying regions near the coast, a sickly child was born. Weak and unlikely to survive, the boy was given to the elders, to be taken to the Phrosto.

The boy was lain upon a flat stone in the Phrosto - an altar to the gods. The autumn air nipped at the naked child, turning his skin a bright pink. The elders gathered around the boy, and spoke to the gods. The air was gold with the setting sun, and shadows danced across the Phrosto, and at once, the elders began to sing. For hours they sang, until the sky was bright, not with the sun, but the stars. The boy wailed through all of this, but was paid no attention.

Eventually, the elders left the boy to his fate. It was for the gods to decide whether the boy would live or die. The cries of the boy soon died down, presumably to weakness and the cold.

The sky was alight with stars - most notably, Noibosteru - The Pleiades. Noibosteru was the gate to Deiwo Magos - the field of the Gods.

Days had passed, and the boy had vanished. Taken by the gods from the Phrosto - to return to Deiwo Magos. Seemingly, it was not his time on Albjo. The elders did what they could, and the gods saw fit to spare the child of his suffering.

Many years later, as the men of the village hunted boar in the forest, a strange sound was heard. It was not like the usual sounds of Trigjo. A flute was not heard, no, but there was a strange twang, not unlike a bow loosing. For days upon days, the hunters would hear the flute and mysterious noise echo through the forest. Elders were informed and parties were brought forth to investigate the source of the noise.

A man by the name of Áed, a musician by profession, was enchanted by the sound of the mysterious instrument. Hearing it echo through the forest, it drove the man hard to find the instrument. Walking through the forest alone, he approached the sound, walking deeper into the forest. The music stopped, and a voice spoke out from the wind, "Who might you be, to interrupt my Trigjo"

"My name is Áed. Your Trigjo is most magnificent, oh mysterious one. What may be the source of it's glory?"

"The source is Faegus. He is I. The Man of the Beech, the gods have named me. The beech is where I reside, and shall forever more. My music is but a ripple of leaves in the wind"

"Oh mighty Faegus, show me the source of your music. Not the melodies that please me so, but the pluck and twang of your instrument. How does one produce such a sound?"

Mac shouldn’t get any blame for this game

Sure, I understand the offense didn’t put up many points. But the kid is giving everything out there. He hasn’t given up yet, even if everyone else has. I can already see people using this game to hate on Mac, saying that we would’ve won this game if we had Brady. That couldn’t be more wrong. Giving up 33 points is unacceptable. The defense should take 80% of the blame, with the other 18% being coaching and then 2% for offense.

What's the deal with Mac computers?

When I was still in university I think in any given CS class beyond the two intro courses about 90% of students used Windows on their school computer and about 10% were either dual booting or using Linux exclusively.

I think most of my classmates had the mindset that Mac computers were overpriced and only purchased by people who didn't actually know how to use a computer. I also had professors who were not afraid to tell us how they hated MacOS and Mac computers for a variety of reasons, and on my first day of Java 1 freshman year I remember our professor told us that our time in university would be hell if we didn't have something that ran windows. Additionally I had several professors who really stressed that we should get familiar with Linux as it would help us later on.

However, when I got my first job out of college I was issued a work computer, I was given the option between a laptop with windows on it and a MacBook, and was told that about half of new hires pick the MacBook. Additionally, talking with other people I went to school with it seems like MacBooks are a pretty common choice for someone who writes code for a living, and as a side not it seems like no one actually uses a Linux desktop for work unless they're regularly dealing with Linux at work. Why is this?

Story time! The legacy of Áed.

(Maybe your stories are more interesting, but this is a fun thing that happened to me today). I was playing as Áed of Mide, in the Old Gods start. I was able to conquer one county in 15 years, but apart from that everything was stable. Then my third son is born: genius, strong, attractive. Everything a father can wish for. Unluckily he was also a spawn of Satan. He killed his older siblings, so he became my oldest son alive, which I was very grateful for. The problem was that the succession Law was set to Tanistry, so my heir was a kinsman, who was ruler of one of my counties.

I died, and he inherited. Immediately after that, the spawn of Satan (let's call him Saty) apparently got told by the devil to gather a few men and sail west, and became ruler of the Aztec empire, that hasn't invaded yet. I thought "well, that's unfortunate, there goes one of my best men" and turned back to my realm issues.

Two years later, Saty comes back with his 84k troops and starts the conquest of Ireland. Fortunately, I don't rule the west coast, so I don't get the first blow. I quickly swore fealty to him, like the craven I am, and convert publicly to his faith, while being secretly a Catholic (I didn't know I could do this without the DLC, but apparently it's possible). I look at my succession line and see that he is fourth. It's killing time.

I was able to kill the two first aspirants quite easily, but I didn't have enough power for the third. He has a duchy, and if my knowledge of Tanistry is correct, if I revoke it from him he'll lose his rights. I tried, and he revolted, conveniently eliminating him from the succession line during the war. Just in time, as I died two days later, leaving emperor Salt as my heir.

As Saty, I finished the conquest of Ireland easily and went onto Scotland, gone with them, let's do Wales. Boom! Onto England and East Anglia. I'm emperor of Britannia, as well as the Aztec empire. Let's expand! I conquer East Francia, what triggers an event turning it into just France. Next, Burgundy, and then Aquitaine. I form the empire of Francia. I capture the Pope during a battle and sacrifice him to the gods. By now I have around 50k soldiers left. All Europe calls a crusade against me, which I could easily defeat, but I'm not a greedy man, and my thirst for land is long gone. So I decide to turn Catholic, just like my father, so I won't be a dissapointment to him. Suddenly everybody loves me, everybody wants to be my ally.

So here I am, emperor of B
