A list of puns related to "Zoo And Aquarium Association"
Has anyone worked at AZA? What is their work culture like? Thoughts on their leadership or standing in the field? I am applying for a job there.
Adults like animals too. Every time I'm at a zoo or an aquarium I don't want to be bombarded with interactive zoo exhibits or childish decorations. I'm just there to appreciate the beauty of nature. Please stop with the childish fonts, the face painting, the fluffy toy animals, nonsense like that. The animals are incredible enough. Me and my friends should be able to go to a zoo or aquarium without feeling uncomfortable about not bringing children. Animals are not just for children to enjoy. It makes it seem like all adults are void of feeling awe and enjoyment from animals, but we clearly aren't. And that's not to say children shouldn't go to zoos. Everyone should be able to enjoy wildlife.
My fellow Caravaners, this morning I bring to you what may be some incredible news. Parts of the Zoo and Aquarium event has finally made it Stateside. I stumbled across this a few hours ago. While we've been able to see outfits for the event for a long time now the event never made it outside of Japan. It looks like that may be changing soon.
Check out my vid, get in, grab some free Pgems (iirc 1800), skills books, and elemental gems early on. Hopefully we get the full event soon and I can finally get Vongyra's penguin outfit!
I never understood the hype or fun of seeing a creature forced to live in a habitat just to be put on display so humans can say they saw one. They should've stopped existing years ago, and they still should. I'm okay with Wildlife preservation if it's for the purpose of preserving not trying to acclimate an animal to another region just because it has a cool pattern on its fur. There's no reason to have aquariums or "shows" where they basically make the fish work for their food. It's messed up how many people don't even have a sliver of compassion for the animals, they just wanna make their kids happy for 5 min.

TLDR: extreme views are usual incorrect. Compromise is good. The best soultion is rarely the perfect solution. Apply that to animals.
I understand that this isn't really that unpopular. But as you know people tend to get a bit extreme, especially on reddit/social.
Fuck seahell! I agree. But let's chill the f out because other institutions aren't seahell.
I used to work at a zoo in America owned by the city. The animals were very well taken care of, BUT the space was just not enough for many species. Many animals were rescues or hitchhikers (found on ships usually), but some came from other zoos or were breed at the zoo especially the large/rare animals.
Zoos should be transformed to only hold animals with small footprints. Insects, reptiles, amphibians, small animals, etc. The animals that take large footprints need to be in the safari type zoos, or transported to natural habitat. Preferably wild, but most would need similar infrastructure.
Being owned by the city was nice because we could vote on things concerning the zoo, extra layer of accountability. They asked for more tax money so they could invest in sustainable projects to lower overhead. Cricket farm, solar panels, and other stuff I can't remember. Even got a mini power plant from the manure! We voted overwhelmingly to help out.
They had many successful breeding programs that even revived species from genetic bottleneck (mostly insects and such). They had a large network which included research partners, not just other zoos, to share and conduct research.
Aquariums could do the same, we just suck at taking care of most aquatic life. So same principal, small footprints and ease of care should be paramount. There is a lot of research on breeding corals. Imagine those prison tanks filled with coral for breeding programs!
The live animal industry needs more regulation but more importantly more teeth. It's getting better. This is where I hate aquariums more so than zoos. A lot of the aquatic life we get were not breed but purchased/captured. Don't blame the Indonesian fisher who's trying to feed his family. Blame the millionaire who wants a salt water tank in his office, the zoo director that looks the other way or worse.
Eco tourism doesn't need to be all the way in Africa (the flight alone is hurting the animals you want to see). The money from the industry can do so much good!
Lots of people I used to work with, some of the most empathetic people I know, support seahell. Ive had friends
