At the time of writing, 41 years ago the legendary The Police recorded their 3rd album at the Wisseloord Studio’s in Hilversum, the Netherlands. With the help of their producer/engineer Nigel Gray they created a brilliant album –Zenyatta Mondatta-, with the hits Don’t Stand So close to Me and De Do Do Do De Da Da Da and masterpieces like Driven to Tears and Behind My Camel (Andy Summers' song - that won a Grammy).
Tributeband The Policed decided to cover and record two songs of Zenyatta Mondatta, exactly at the same spot where Stewart, Sting and Andy created their original; Studio 1, Wisseloord. A place, mostly unchanged from 41 years ago. Improved technology, but still the tape machine was there, the studio room was mainly unaffected, even the exact acoustic panels from 41 years ago (check the original album cover!) were there.
De Do Do Do De Da Da Da was a huge hit in 1980/1981 for The Police. The band: “This is the fourth song that we covered. The earlier tribute songs Roxanne, Every Breath you Take and King of Pain were more musical interpretations. For this one we tried to stay close to the original as possible, except for the end of the song, where we inserted some of our own creativity.” Note, the version that you see is the first take of the song. The camera footage is the actual recording- shot live.
It was truly an honour to record this song on that exact same spot. What a day!

I see it as the perfect transitional album between the first two albums and the last two albums. They also pretty much mastered the Reggae rock style at this point. I understand that the album was sort of rushed, but I wish it didn't get shat on as much by Sting.
I'm sure it must have been posted plenty times already, but it would be nice to have this thing.
We all know Mondatta, yes, it's that monk who prefered go through crowd like if they were his shield, all the way slowly to his limo and taking a last look at his killer for no reason at all.
But he looked damn well while at it
I know, Zen already has plenty of amazing skins, but there is something I still prefer about his classic omnic look, as his legendaries usually make him either the most badass, or the creepiest thing in game (I'm looking at you, Nutcracker) and I think it wouldn't hurt to have more "Omnic-like" skins for him, well unless they have usually bird/tentacle heads
Anyone else would love to see that ingame?
Zenyatta and Mondatta must have deliberately chosen to name themselves after a Police album. Are the Shambali just really big fans of Sting? Are there any other Shambali named after Police albums or songs?

Very clearly taken from the Police's 1980 album Zenyatta Mondatta. Not sure how I missed this before, but yeah. The backstory on the name of the album is they basically took a bunch of words like Zen and le Monde (French for the World) and put them together to get Zenyatta Mondatta. Cool find, hope this is a revelation to some of you guys as well!

I mean Reinhardt has a skin for his Mentor/Leader "Balderich" so I was wondering why we haven't gotten a Mondatta skin for Zen?

As some of you may know, all characters in the game has a skin with a bit of lore attached to it; D.Va’s Junker skin talks about the Australian mech battles, Lúcio’s Striker skin talks about his passion for football (soccer for my American friends), etc. but one character does not have one of these lore related skins: Zenyatta.
As the only character without a lore skin, I expected him to get a Mondatta skin when Uprising came last year (Mondatta has some strong relations to King’s Row) but alas, nothing. Then with retribution I thought “hey, maybe he’ll get it this year.” Nothing.
Why Mondatta though? Much like Reinhardt’s mentor Balderich, Zenyatta’s mentor was Mondatta. Both mentors died tragically and both students have taken their mentor’s role. Guess who got the mentor skin? Reinhardt.
At first thought, you may think Mondatta look similar to Zenyatta, but that is not the case. Mondatta’s dots above his “eyes” are shaped like a rhombus, Zenyatta has that square look. Mondatta has a white and gold face, Zenyatta has a silver and yellow face. Mondatta has that monk robe shown in the Alive short, Zenyatta has yellow pants.
Some heroes in Overwatch need more lore, heroes like D.Va, Lúcio and Symmetra. But before doing that, at least give Zen his lore skin, and Mondatta would be the best fit for such a skin.
It's so fucking clean and clear but its also drenched in a pool of echo and pedals. It almost sounds like synths on some of the songs. In addition, out of all the instruments on the album it's Summer's that sounds the most like the cover art. It, at least to my mind, has this purpley orange glow to it that hovers through each one of the songs like a warm mist.
I always liked mondatta but since it's dead the only way to "use" it is trough a skin, legendary for sure. If it come for the next skins update i'll happy as a kid on christmas :D
EDIT : people it's just a skin. keep off morality or stuff. I know zen is the total opposite of mondatta
I stumbled upon the name Zenyatta Mondatta while reading the seventh part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga (steel ball run). I have tried contacting @playoverwatch but received no response. I would love to get one here, either from an official blizz employee or from the community.
Please know that I am only asking because I am a huge fan of both JOJOBA and Overwatch. And because curiosity is killing me.

I mean, Reinhardt got a skin of one of his comrades. I'm surprised that Zenyatta never got a skin for Mondatta. They're different enough to the point where it's not pointless, Zenyatta is grey with yellow pants, Mondatta is very white with a white robe, I'd honestly pick that look over the stock Zen skin. And he obviously fits the design rig of Zenyatta. Anyway, just something my brother and I have been curious about for a while.
