It seems like many people in the industry talk about "locking in," spending days/weeks in the studio, no sleep, etc. I dont understand how it's possible to work this way, and when it's exaggeration vs reality. For example here's Seth Firkins talking about a session with future:
"Futureโs output is insane. What is his recording process like?" "Nonstop. Iโve been locked in the studio basically without any lights for like, probably mixing on these, three weeks, 24 hours a day..."
There are articles about young thug staying up for days. There's a gunna interview where he talks about how the YSL crew spends 18hrs a day in the studio. Is everyone actually sneaking naps on the studio couches? What's the reality of workflow at the high levels of the industry?
Before we go thru how much NAV earned in 2021, you have to know, that in no way this will be the exact amount NAV has earned in 2021, see it as his estimated income.
A typical music contract: Normally an artist with a solid fanbase receives 12%-20% of profits (https://lawyerdrummer.com/2019/01/5-things-look-record-deal/). But XO (NAV's label) is only marketed by Republic Records not licensed by them (being marketed as a label means, that they distribute your music, while licensing means, that they own your music aka masters), which means, that NAV keeps 80% of his profits, while Republic Records takes 20% cut for distribution.
Source: Lil Pump's manager mentioned it in an interview (https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/podcast/since-2018-theres-been-three-crazy-deals-in-the-record-business-i-did-two-of-them/)
'Look at what The Weekndโs doing โ look at the bottom of the [credits on Spotify],โ says Battle. โXOโs onlyย distributingย that through Universal/Republic. Theyโre not signed to a record deal' - Dooney Battle
No wonder NAV rapped 'When I die, my sister gon' benefit' on 'Stella McCartney' ft. Future, cause that means NAV owns his masters - basically his music rights, while big rappers like Kanye West still fight for their masters.
So imagine NAV made $100 of profit, $20 goes to Republic Records, so what happens to the remaining $80? Typically your management (NAV's manager Cash & Sal) takes a 15% cut (https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/podcast/since-2018-theres-been-three-crazy-deals-in-the-record-business-i-did-two-of-them/). So $65 is left. I'm sure TheWeeknd earns from NAV a little bit as NAV is still signed to XO, which is TheWeeknd's imprint. I can't imagine, that TheWeeknd takes more than 10% from NAV, which leaves $55 for NAV (this is why I can't tell the exact amount NAV earns with his music, as there is no single piece of information regarding to his deal, therefore I go with standard numbers).
So at the end of the day NAV makes $55 out of $100, which is 55% from his music and this is pre-taxes! By the way 55% is still brilliant, many artists make 10-15%, which equals to $10-$15 for $100 of profit AND they don't even own their masters (music rights), while NAV owns his music!
In 2021 NAV made 523 million streams on Spotify (1000 streams equals to $3-$5, so let's take $4 as NAV's average Spotify earnings per 1000 streams). 523 million streams equals to $2,1 million.
In 2021 NAV averaged 8,2 million streams per month on Y

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Last year I wrote a celebratory summary of GFRIENDโs amazing 2020 for /r/kpopthoughts , and I thought maybe Iโd give it a go again, with doing a spotlight update on their year. Obviously, this will be a very different kind of year end reflection, with everything that went down in 2021. It's been a rollercoaster. But even the darkest night will end, and the sun will rise. The latter half of the year was packed with excitement and positivity. And I hope you can see this post not as a summary of the death of GFRIEND, but as one celebrating OT6โs rebirth. I hope some fans, new or old, can find some use in this compilation, as it's been harder to keep up with everything this year. Iโll try to limit what to include, and Iโm sure Iโll miss some stuff, but be warned! It will be long!
If you need a proper introduction to the group, I want to refer you to this wonderfully comprehensive spotlight post by /u/meatgrind89.
This was their 2021.
We were all still riding high on last year's trilogy, and didn't expect much for a while. God knows they deserved some rest. But we did get something, straight away. The year started with OSTs! Early in January, The Nolans became aware of Yujuโs remake of Iโm In The Mood For Dancing, which she released the month before. And they really leaned into it! Not only was it another OST hit for her in Korea, but with The Nolans being so excited over it, it got some western attention. I never would have expected Yujuโs name to be mentioned on Loose Women, for example. They even offered a collaboration, which could be a lot of fun. Come the end of January, we got some new OSTs. SinB released Lovable for drama A Love So Beautiful. Yuju released her OST Falling, for Run On. And Eunha released Pit-A-Pat for She Would Never Know. As well as Buddy! Birdie! for the game Birdie Crush. Complete with Japanese and [English](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbHJd
... keep reading on reddit โกAlot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
So I know, we're starving for some new NAV. I have no info, but if I had to guess, I'd say we'll have our first lead-single in March (it will def have a big feature) and then I believe in April he'll drop the album. His popularity is declining, that's the bitter truth, but WE will support him no matter how bad the album is. Keep your expectations low, so y'all won't be disappointed. I do think, that it will be legendary, cause TheWeeknd's best friend and Co-Founder of XO records and TheWeeknd's creative director (La Mar) twitted it (https://mobile.twitter.com/lamarXO/status/1435493010435940353).
Furthermore I don't think it will be a YSL-esque album, cause it has Jadakiss as a confirmed feature (https://thesource.com/2021/08/06/nav-recruited-jadakiss-two-weeks-prior-to-the-verzuz-battle/). Besides Jadakiss, I believe Young Thug & Gunna gonna feature too, Lil Uzi Vert could be on NAV's upcoming album (https://youtube.com/shorts/WhMfuQoDJOk?feature=share), Future, Travis Scott, Lil Durk will most likely feature. I hope NAV has a Drake & Don Toliver feature in his bag and a female artist doing vocals in his coming album.
We can expect many NAV features this year: w Coi Leray (https://youtu.be/-tIYcC79hd8), w Swae Lee, w 2Chainz ft. Fabulous too.
And I dare to say that we will witness Perfect Timing 2 this year too, but in November maybe, so NAV could become top 10 hottest rapper in the game, but we gotta support him for real. If you ain't got the money to buy merch, that's fine, but try to put his albums, singles on your stories, cause he manipulated his last album sales by selling Vlone Merch + physical copies, this time it won't be allowed anymore, he gotta sell boxes only then he will be able to count each sold boxes as 'sale'. Everybody gon' clown on him and us, if he sells under 70k-80k, we gotta aim for 100k at least, it will be hard, but it's possible.
Oh and the album has to come in the coming 3 months at least, cause I have a theory: Nav's managment sold those mystery boxes to see how it works with all this new Billboard regulations (cause each sold mystery box counts as 1 sale) and they're givin' their best to push NAV's sales numbers as high as possible. I really can see NAV selling 120k if they try hard, we gotta support our brown boy ๐ฏ!
Do your worst!
Ants donโt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
How the hell am I suppose to know when itโs raining in Sweden?

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?

Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
