Yamaha Gx 1 Puns

Hello, first post on /r/SynthRecipes :)

This is kind of an obscure one, but I was wondering if anyone knew how to create this string patch.

The guy in the video says he used three layers of a subtractive synth in Reason.

It comes from the mighty Yamaha GX-1, which Stevie Wonder used on the track 'Village Ghetto Land' from Songs in The Key of Life.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hello, I have a small collection of really rare vintage audio stuff that I’m selling and I’m looking for some guidance or advice? I’ve listed a really old Garrard turntable on eBay and am getting bids from China and Japan... I don’t want to even think about sending a stage amp halfway around the world. I also have an AKAI GX-400D SS reel to reel. I’m no longer performing or recording so I figure I should sell them to someone who’ll appreciate and use them. Should I just start out on my local kijiji site? (I abhor Facebook but might make an exception). What does yous all think? And thanks in advance.

I was thinking of getting the Roland micro cube then I realized I can get the Yamaha for a little bit more.

What are your opinions? Can I use the Yamaha without a computer? (Sorry if that’s a stupid question) can either one take pedals?

I Have gone through the different options and i think i have narrowed down the best options to the Roland Micro Cube GX and the Yamaha THR5. Can anyone help provide some input to help me make the best choice? The only reservation i have about these amps is that they have a single tone knob instead of Bass/Treble/Mids, but i don't have any experience with a single tone knob.

This will be my first ever released skin

I wanted to go for a clean dark midnight aesthetic, I skinned both mania and standard.Mania's 4k arrows are based off of the disgrace stepmania skin.

Any opinions on the skin will be appreciated, I do plan to do a couple more skins in the future hopefully in a less minimal style.

Hi bros and sisses.

First Electric! Bought 2nd hand Pacifica 012, and bought some D'Addario Jazz medium strings 13-56. I play acoustic everyday: first thickish strings seen bought. Slapped in strings; trem starts floating and not even fully tuned.

Tried tightening inside spring screws. Bringing the string carriers in. Tightening and loosening the trem face screws. Nothing's worked. Scared to break guitar, or get string whipped.

TL:DR = Qs: Is there a max bearable gauge? If not how to get trem flat? Not trying to whammy.

90% close field listening, 80% PC, 20% vinyl. Small room, 2,2x5m.

After 6 months of waiting the supplier told me my black A-S501 is unlikely to arrive anytime soon. They have it in silver, but the prices went up significantly since my order (ordered the black one for 480 USD, now it's 610, Hungary), and my other equipment has a consistent black finish.

Fed up with the unending waiting, i'm inclined to just get the black A-S301 they have in stock for the same price as my original order (so an inferior amp for the same price). Question is, will the lower power (60 W instead of 85) be able to drive the speakers with sufficient headroom?

Speakers will be Wharfedale EVO 4.1-s without a sub. The manufacturer recommends 25W and up, but reviews mention 40 is a must. They also dip as low as 3,5 Ohms, and that scares me, since both the 301 and 501 are rated only down to 4. An alternative is a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 12.2-s, which have deeper bass and a minimum impedance of 4 Ohms, but are said to be outshined by the EVO's tighter sound. (I can only audition the Diamonds, and I think they look better, but ultimately i want the speakers with better sound). In the distant future i might add a sub.

So, what do You think about the situation? Long (very long) wait and 501+EVO 4.1? 301+EVO 4.1? 301+Diamond 12.2?

I brought RX-V4A last September but i unboxed it a week ago when I checked the firmware i foud 1.31 without asterisk but when I updated it to latest the firmware 1.48 i found the asterisk “*” left of version does that means that the device has the upgraded board of hdmi 2.1 , also i try to enter my AV serial nom. at yamaha website trying shipping to me the hardware “ the board “ and they replied by this ===> Good news your AV receiver already has the latest hdmi 2.1 board installed from the factory, does it ok and worries for me ?

I connected a Yamaha Reface CP to op-1 with an audio cable connected to headphones port to record some. But the sound quality is prominently inferior compared to directly connecting the same headphones to Reface CP. It's not noise or anything, but just poor sound quality. I also plug focusrite scarlett solo with the same method, an audio cable connected to scarlett's headphones jack, and don't really hear drop in sound quality.

I appreciate it if anyone has any experience or thought on what the reason might be.

I dont know what mode I am supposed to use. I have a front, left, and right speaker along with a subwoofer. I have everything hooked up to the TV via HDMI and then an optical out from the TV running to the optical in on the receiver.

I don't know which mode I am supposed to use to have audio play on this 3.1 system. There are so many different kinds of modes I don't know which one I am supposed to use to have things come out of these three speakers properly when watching a movie or games or sports.

There is stereo (2 and 6 channel), DSP, surround, entertainment modes. Dolby, and Pro Logic stuff. I dont know what to do with all of this.

I currently am looking for a little sound system to give my movies and music a bit more power and dynamics.

I stumbled upon two models of soundbars in my price range, the one from Yamaha and JBL.

Optically, i like the JBL alot more, but in the end decided for the Yamaha due to the slightly lower price and punchy basses and functions (Alexa, simulated 5.1)

This was a few days ago. Now I noticed some problems that are bugging me.

It lacks midrange, a special bass frequency at around 170Hz (could be my room, but lower and higher frequencies are fine aswell) and those trebles are stinging in my ear.

I feel like the YAS has a weird frequency band where the lows are high in volume, then comes a dip at 170Hz, it goes up again, a looong drop at the mids and overboosted highs.

That's my concern that brings me to take the YAS back (i like the Alexa feature tho) and buy the JBL one that feels like its more balanced, especially at the mids.

What do you all think? Should I let it be or get the JBL which lacks just Alexa as a function (my TB has it, so not that much of a problem) Those simulated surround features are crap, I'd rather listen to normal stereo so I also don't care about this feature -and it gives me a weird reverb if I turn on surround..

What do you recommend?
