A list of puns related to "Władysław Ii Jagiełło"
In Lithuanian history courses, it's his cousin Vytautas who gets a lot of praise, while Jogaila seems to be portrayed in something a villainous light.
How do Polish historians remember him? This new, formerly pagan King, that spawned a lasting dynasty?

Poland is calling, Mazovia will answer.
Raising troops.
Early July, 1501
The sound of tolling bells filled the air of the Polish city of Piotrków Trybunalski, announcing that news of great importance had arrived. Across the city, cries of "The King is dead!" And Long live the King!" could be heard. Posted on every innhouse and church door were proclamations declaring the news of the day. One such paper read:
>King Jan I Olbracht, Son of Casimir IV, is dead! The Kingdom Mourns!
>By Election in the Sejm, Władysław of Hungary is now King Władysław IV of Poland!
>The Rights Immemorial of the Sejm have been Confirmed by the King in his Royal Capitulation!
>Praise be to God in Heaven, Long Live King Władysław!
Most of the celebration appeared to center around the town’s stronghold, where the Sejm remained in session. Outside the castle proper, a crier stands, shouting in a high pitched voice to be heard over the crowd.
“The Sejm, assembled in this hall today, has received the capitulation of the King-Elect and has now crowned him King of all Poland! Władysław IV, son of good King Casimir, has succeeded his brother to the throne! Long live the King! Here are he Rights he has guaranteed to the Sejm:
“First! The King is forbidden from passing laws without the consent of the Sejm! Save, of course, for laws affecting only the crownlands, the royal cities and fiefs, the royal mines, the peasants, and the Jews.
“Second! The Sejm has the right to appoint the commanders of the King’s Army!
“Third! The Sejm Proper, the Chamber of Deputies, has the right to ratify or veto all treaties, decisions, or declarations made by the King that would lead this Kingdom into war!
“These are the Rights of the Sejm! From time Immemorial the Sejm has held these rights, and it will have them from now until Judgment Day! So say the King and Sejm assembled!”
After the crier ended his speech, a knight in the crowd shouted, “What of the War in Lithuania?”
The crier pointed at the knight, and responded, “Regarding the War in Lithuania, the Sejm has decided to await the word of the new King. They expect him to offer his aid to his brother, the Grand Duke Alexander, but the nature of this aid is up to the will of the new King. Long live the King!”
“Long live the King!” the crowd echoed. They all looked towards the doors of the grand hall, awaiting the exit of the Władysław, King of Poland, Hungary, and Bohemia.
