A list of puns related to "Wplj"
Thinking that it was 1979 or so that the NYC rock station WPLJ played an all day long set of the four major British bands. I recorded the songs on a boombox, must have been a Saturday otherwise I would have been in school and missed it. Lol, learned a lot of new songs never heard in my life, especially from The Who, which as a kid I was big time into. Later on I got into Led Zeppelin.
I think WPLJ also did spot promos for their station using cuts from songs, something they called a montage ( was a new word for me back then too). Anyway, they played all versions of the montages they had created one day in one run I think it lasted maybe an hour in time (??).
I am prettty sure this was WPLJ. The other major radio station, WNEW 102.7, from NYC I don't think was as creative with their format back then but maybe I got the stations mixed up?
Great pod this week. Too many bits that had me pissing myself. Whoβd have thought Billy Ocean had it him?? What bits did I forget?

Today is NYC station WPLJβs last day on air :( and theyβve been playing songs from their whole duration and talking about times they have had different artists in the studio or at promo concerts. A few hours ago, they played the recording of an interview with Chris where they talked about sending a demo to Johnny Cash and then Chris sang Til Kingdom Come on air. I thought it was amazing to both hear the demo and the story about it (R.I.P. JC), and I was wondering if anyone else has been listening.

I'm sorry to see it go.
I remember listening to this everyday when i was waiting for my brother to get picked up by his school bus every morning. Outside of the CDs released does anyone know where you can get these episodes. im looking either for an archive like elvis duran`s phone tap or id be willing to purchase them if i could. there has to be alot of them but im really looking for one that talks about peeing on a guys lexus but i would listen to anyone thats funny
I was listening to the WPLJ's "Blown off" and started wondering.. is there a law that force a radio station to disclose if the caller was fake? Smth like "The following show is fiction" or Idk?
Those calls are 100% fake and they're acting like they are real.. and people are actually buying it!
Basically every calls goes like:
Todd: "Hi, how are you?"
Caller: "Hiii!! I'm doing gooood!"
Todd: "I'm from radio... da da da"
Todd: "Actually you know him. He's Mike.."
Caller: "Ohh that Mike"
Todd: "What happened?"
Caller: "So, we went to...." (She knows exactly what to say... and she's talking like to an old friend)
FYI.. "The guy was rejected because he stole her used panties from her gym bag" - you know, just a regular date.
The guy, on the national radio station: "Yeah I did that, I'm into such stuff... " - WHAT?
I'm listing to that radio every morning and so far there were 10/10 really weird/awkward stories, 0/10 stories like "He's really nice, but he's just not my type. Sorry".
