A list of puns related to "World Constructors Championship"
I was wondering how the different Constructors compared to each other in the number of followers in the main Social Media platforms. I had noticed that McLaren is quite huge on Instagram, but Mercedes is HUGE on Facebook, while Ferrari is quite big on Twitter.
So why not create a little championship to settle the matter? 5 "races" each one for a different Social Media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and our dear Reddit) with the standard amount of points. And I also got the numbers for the Official F1 accounts to get a comparison.
I decided to put Reddit just because I really enjoy it, but it is different from the other ones by not being directly managed by the teams. Also, Ferrari's YouTube channel has non-racing stuff, so it might not be the fairest comparison to the other teams' channels.
These were all created in Excel with data from today (August 28th, 2020).
Here we go:
For the Instagram GP we see a huge gab between the 4th and 5th place. McLaren is the clear winner, which, IMHO, is quite deserved by all the content they put there. Mercedes, in second place, also has a lot of content on Instagram, not to mention a driver that has more followers in Instagram than the official F1 page.
For the Twitter GP we also see quite a gap between the 4th and 5th place, but not as huge as one Instagram. Ferrari and Mercedes have a tight battle for the first position and Ferrari is the winner. Haas is way back behind with almost half of Alpha Tauri's followers. Come on, Haas!
The Facebook GP spice the championship up by giving Red Bull a lot of points. Apparently their Facebook page is very active with a lot of content there. I find it surprising that both Mercedes and Red Bull have more likes than the official Formula 1 page. The gap now sits between the 2nd and 3rd places with Ferrari having less than half of Red Bull's likes. There's also two noticeable gaps between 5th and 6th place - Alpha Tauri having less than half of Renault's likes - and between 9th and 10th - Haas having less than A THIR
... keep reading on reddit β‘I was watching a podcast and an interesting question was asked that I'd love to get everyone's opinion on.
Let's say that it's the final race of the season this year and both the constructors and drivers championships are only separated by a few points, would Red Bull sacrifice the constructors to help Max Verstappen win his first title?
For example, Sergio PΓ©rez is in the podium positions towards the end of the race, but Lewis Hamilton has the point for fastest lap. Would Red Bull pit PΓ©rez to steal the point from lewis, giving Max the drivers' title, yet as a result lose the constructors' title and the millions in prize money that it brings?
Iβm really curious whether or not you guys think Williams will ever be a top constructor again.
They went from an era of dominance to dead last, do you think the team can undo that damage? And if you think they can when do you think it will happen?
Of the three most successful teams in the sports history (Ferrari, McLaren, Williams) their future seems the most tenuous. For the purposes of this discussion I would only count it if the current organization wins with the Williams name, no takeover and renaming a la Brawn / Mercedes.
Hello everyone!
So I remember a post asking who would have won the WCC from 1950 to 1957 had such a championship existed. I managed to figure out who would have won each year, but I thought what would the standings actually have looked like?
So the parameters I set:
1958 Championship Points System- This is the most realistic WCC points system we can apply to the era. Only the Top 6 points results are counted for each team.
Only the top scoring driver gets points for their constructor - As manufacturers had different number of cars, this is the only fair method of creating a championship in this era.
American Teams in the Indy 500 do not count- Technically speaking, the American teams who raced in the Indy 500 were not entrants into the World Championship. Yes drivers could still score points for themselves, but in a hypothetical world, the teams would not score points. (This was true in the 1958 season)
I am aiming to do the next few years pretty soon. If you have any variations you want me to do then I'll be more than willing to look into it!
Mercedes have scored enough points in the United States today to win their fourth World Constructors' Championship in a row.
