A list of puns related to "Winston Simon"
This interview is proof that he is one hell of a smart guy.
I think he may have out-nerded us all. While redditors like to congratulate ourselves on liking nerdy things, like Star Wars, STEM subjects and knitting i.e. traditionally old-school and therefore cool before they were cool subjects, Winston was such an old-school nerd that he liked learning latin and liked memerising tracts of legislation and he loved the dream of equality so much that it gave him the motivation to ignore all the expectations of the racists of the day and get into politics to change something for the better.
We still like to denigrate him so we say he flip-flops instead of admitting that he takes every new piece of information, scientific and cultural alike and decides if it is valid research that he needs to factor in because instead of just arbitrarily choosing to take the left line or the right, he actually weighs up all the available information like a scientist (yes, just like the ones we are so proud of claiming we are) and then makes a carefully considered decision.
We even whinge about him only caring about the elderly when every single one of us will hopefully make it to being elderly. He is right now fighting for the future rights of a group of people that we hope to join. We should support him gaining rights for our future, or do we want to live in poverty during the days that we worked so hard to get to?
Why are we so anti-someone who is trying to make life better for all of us (instead of just some of us, ahem, National)? And when did it become uncool to love your fellow man, no matter what age or background they have?
He's like the ultimate, scientific, hippie, hero who came from nothing to overcome overwhelming odds in order to rationally convince that you that you are worth more than this so you should expect more than this from your government. You should expect thoughtful, rational, judgments based on science so we can all work toward a better country and instead we liked Simon Bridges who is such a 'bloke's bloke that he never bothered to challenge his own sexist thoughts let alone his archaic ideas about Maori people can only be cool, not intelligent. It's ironic that the policies and law changes that were instigated in the 70's, thanks to strong politician's like Winston, based on fairness and science, are the ones that allowed a "lower-c

Well this is another milestone for me - writing for DWM! I feel at once blessed and terrified. I'm very much the new boy, finding my feet as it were, and now I get to pass on my insights to a readership eager for news and forensic in their examination of anything written about Doctor Who. Perhaps I'll slip up, let several cats out of all manner of bags, and then I'll have to face the wrath of the man whose seat I'm keeping warm - Russell. I don't think I'd like to mess with Russell. He's a big fella and in comparison I'm weak as kitten. So I shall attach a post-it with 'be circumspect!' written on it to my screen, and proceed with care, ever watchful.
We are now in that most exciting of times as the second production team comes on line. While the first three episodes are nearly shot (and don't they look just beautiful in the rushes), the next two are into final preparation. There's no time to catch your breath. Making Doctor Who is unremitting. The show's so complex, the production values so high, making it can only be a labour of love. Everyone goes the extra mile because it's Doctor Who.
The second block consists of two rich, enchanting episodes, dazzling and full of terror. Monsters - oh there'll be monsters alright. Things you've never seen. Best I don't tell you though - wouldn't want to spoil it. Each will be realised in a different way. The Mill will weave their CGI magic, but there will also be in-house, real, practical monsters. It's all so different to what I'm used to after seven years at the coal-face of soap opera.
On Emmerdale and EastEnders the challenge was all about finding new ways to tell the same sort of stories - affairs, betrayals, loves and losses. The characters and locations rarely changed (that is the very nature of soap after all) and so it was the little truths that mattered, made each episode different. Sometimes this was seeing a subject from an unusual perspective, or
