A list of puns related to "Wind Quintet"
Classical musician here. I'm looking to make high-quality studio recordings of a woodwind quintet. I'm wondering if anyone in the subreddit has experience recording a woodwind quintet. I have a bit of experience with Ableton and ProTools, and a simple scarlett 2i2 interface and a couple dynamic mics, but I'm ok with spending money to get more equipment (which will probably be necessary). Specifically, I'm wondering how the mics should be set up and how to master the final mix, as well as any general recommendations like if we should record in a concert hall, studio space, etc.
For my school, we had to choose a small ensemble to perform for a grade. And I chose a wind Quintet with my other classmates. I was wondering if any of you had recommendations for any good ones? Just for reference it should be about 3 to 5 minutes long. Iβm not very picky with the difficulty level but it should be suitable for juniors and seniors in high school. Thank you so much!!
I've been in love with a couple of (already composed) themes lately, and wanted to put them together into a score. However, I've never written for a Wind Quintet before and was wondering if my textures, ranges, and especially balance could be abysmal.
Thanks.

I thought I should try it at some point, so I did. It's just a short little piece, not much to it really, but it's sort of nice-sounding. I tried to spice up the middle section with interesting modulations. I do apologize to any bassoonists, whose part is dreadfully uninteresting.

I love the sound of my last quintet, so I wrote a new one. It's a short piece but nonetheless, I'm pretty proud of it. While I initially was trying to evoke the want of freedom, a song about the winds and their whims and wishes just fits so well with the motif.
While I doubt this would be played publicly (a guy can dream) I do have some questions about the engraving: for the french-horn, I heard that they usually specialize in upper or lower register. Would french horn players find it annoying that I switch clefts thrice in the piece, or just the range of the piece in general? Also, are my usage of dynamics too much in this case? I tried holding back writing them in, but I felt that it was necessary (but I may be wrong). Lastly, are staccatos more appropriate in this case rather than rests?
What do you think of the piece in general, and what can I improve on.

My first composition for wind quintet. Inspired by several different 20th century composers, the five short movements in this piece each try to evoke a distinct character. Would love some feedback, especially from wind players. Hope you enjoy!
Hello, for a course at uni I need to analyse this pièce. There should be some in Parisian libraries but the sanitary conditions kind of make borrowing harder.
There is a video w/ the score on YT but the quality is not so good. Can someone please maybe send me scans/pictures of it and help me out ? Thanks in advance π
Hey all! Please enjoy my latest release, which is "This Christmas" by Donnie Hathaway, but arranged by Jeff Scott for wind quintet! Please go to the page and leave a comment, like and sub if you can!
Mozart composed the Quintet in E-flat Major for Piano and Winds (oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon), K. 452, during a very productive part of his career in 1784. At the time, he wrote to his father that he personally thought it was one of his best works. In this video, I have recorded my playing of the piano part mixed with wind parts based on a Tomplay recording.

I just love Messiaen's irregular rhythms and use of the octatonic scale.
