As you probably already know, this novel was the source material for the 1980s horror-noir Angel Heart.

Just finished reading Angel's Inferno the follow-up novel to Falling Angel and haven't seen a lot of discussion about it.I enjoyed my time with it but thought it needed a serious edit in comparison to the first novel.

I did love the fleshed out occult lore added to the books universe but overall feel it was a good book rather than great as I thought Falling Angel was. I also liked that I didn't see where the plot was going to conclude until two thirds of the way through unlike with Falling Angel which was more obvious (not in a bad way it's a great journey!)

Be interesting to get others thoughts on it.

2 years back, i read this book review which says this book is the inspiration for william hjortsberg to write "falling angel". i ended up discovering fredric brown's "here comes a candle" in that search session but could not trace that first book again. The keywords I used are "falling angel william hjortsberg review".

i know its a long shot but any obscure fiction enthusiasts here, who can tell me about this literary reference ?

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I'm an 80's kid, and seeing all these 80's movies come out again is great to see. No 4K on this one, which I honestly find strange. If it was because of the director's cut, then just leave out the director's cut. The quality of this master looks fine to me. Anyway, let's see what we have here.

Firstly, the colors are absolutely gorgeous, and this is all without HDR color grading. Honestly, the colors are bright and very bold. I wouldn't be surprised if it's been specifically graded for SDR, because I think the colors are superb. Also, I didn't see any bit-depth issues with banding and such, a

I've seen the movie Angel Heart and I'm thinking of buying the book by William Hjortsberg. Did anyone else also read the book after the movie? Does the plot from the movie differs from the book in a meaningful way? Did anyone, by chance, prefered the movie to the book? I'll probably buy the book anyway, just wanna know your opinions.
