A Summary of President George Dewey's Term (1901-1905) | Peacock-Shah Alternate Elections

George Dewey, 22nd President of the United States of America.

Administration:

Vice President: Robert M. La Follette

Secretary of State: Thomas B. Reed (1901-1902 (died)), Grover Cleveland (1902-1905)

Secretary of the Treasury: William F. Vilas

Secretary of War: William O’Connell Bradley

Attorney General: Louis Brandeis (1901 (appointed to the Supreme Court)), Frank D. Jackson (1901-1905)

Secretary of the Navy: Theodore Roosevelt

Secretary of the Interior: William Borah

Postmaster General: Myron T. Herrick

Secretary of Agriculture: Oscar Underwood

Secretary of Labor: Terence V. Powderly

Dewey’s cabinet was a diverse array of political proclivities. Former General Trades Union President and incumbent Secretary of Labor Terence V. Powderly, having served in the Trumbull, Houston, and George cabinets, agreed to serve in a fourth and remain as Secretary of Labor under President Dewey. Maine’s Thomas Brackett Reed was selected to serve as Secretary of State, bringing a conservative and anti-imperialist touch to things that would persist until his death in 1902, whereupon he was replaced with former New York Governor Grover Cleveland, a Liberal recently mired in a scandal involving his sister’s relationship with another woman. William F. Vilas was made Secretary of the Treasury, evidencing the administration’s shift from protectionist Federal Republican orthodoxy.

Anti-prohibitionist Kentucky Federal Republican William O’Connell Bradley was selected to serve as Secretary of War due to the intervention of Mark Twain, who vehemently protested Dewey’s initial intention to appoint Theodore Roosevelt to the post. Nonetheless, Roosevelt was placed at the Naval Department in a gesture of reconciliation to party Houstonians. Louis Brandeis was selected as Attorney General once more, while 35 year old Farmer-Labor Representative William Borah of Idaho was made Secretary of the Interior, a controversial choice publicly opposed by Federal Republican leaders such as William McKinley. Ohio anti-prohibition Federal Republican Myron T. Herrick and Alabama Liberal Oscar Underwood were granted the Postal and Agriculture positions, respectively.

With the politically inexperienced Dewey lacking many connections or legislative acumen, heightened by his belief in a weak executive, his cabinet and Vice President La Follette wielded large

Thoughts on the 2022 Linebackers

I know, I know, this is way too early. I’m bored, I'm on break, and the 2021 starters^([1]) played above my expectations. I'm interested to see how the team will build on the 2021 successes in 2022.

Below are my thoughts on the five linebacker spots^([2]). I'd like to see what others think!

Quick point of clarification: as far as I've seen, the public depth chart refers to the team's OLBs as defensive endsβ€”I think calling them DEs lacks nuance in the same way that referring to the ILBs solely as such wrongfully downplays the reality that there's a MIKE and a WILL^([3]). Thus, I'm going to be referring to the five positions as MIKE (ILB), WILL (ILB), EDGE (DE), JACK (DE), and NICKEL.

So, Let's jump in!

MIKE (aka the ILB more likely to rush)

***Starter: Nick Henrich (RsSo | 6'3 | 225 | Omaha, NE)***^([4])

  • Led the team in 2021 with 99 tackles; had a breakout season.
  • Personally, I think the defense could use a bit more weight down the middle of the field and would like to see Henrich bulk up a bit moreβ€”that being said, if adding 10 or so pounds significantly reduces his speed, it isn't worth it.
  • I think he has a chance at going pro but will probably exhaust his eligibility first (+/- his extra COVID year).

Backup: Chris Kolarevic (RsSr | 6'1 | 230 | Traverse City, MI)

  • Solid back up; was in the conversation for a starting role when he first transferred from Northern Iowa.
  • His testing numbers are very impressive.
  • I'm by no means the first to say this, but with his athleticism, I do wonder if he'd fit well in the NICKEL spot. In his UNI film, he looks solid in pass coverage. Nevertheless, a shift to NICKEL would obviously require a lot of learningβ€”on top of the question of whether it’s even a good fit. Alongside that, Kolarevic helps anchor the ILBs rotation, how much would moving him hurt the ILBs?

Depth: In 2021, Garrett Snodgrass and Eteva Mauga-Clements served as the main depth ILBs. However, the 2021 recruiting class brought in four players coming off redshirts. Of those, I'm really excited to see two guys: Wynden Ho'ohuli and Randol

2022 Full Mock Offseason: The Conclusion

So, for anyone new, I do this every season during the bye week (or close to it). Its just a look ahead at next spring, laying out possible scenarios and looking at different courses of action. Its not meant to be predictive, just informative (although I do occasionally nail a call). Even later when I do "predictions", its more about looking at the structure of things to come and provide a flowpath that puts all the data points into one big picture.

This is a multi Part series.

Part 1:Coaches

Part 2:Salary Cap

Part 3:The Roster

Part 4: Free Agents

Part 5: The Draft

Part 6: A full Mock Offseason.

So, let's walk through a potential whole offseason, from the end of the season up through the draft.

It won't be predictive, it won't be "what I would do", and it won't even necessarily be realistic in terms of how Stephen and Jerry run the team. What it will be, however, is as mathematically accurate as I can make it, with (hopefully) realistic contract amounts for players, in order to show what kind of things the team could do this spring if they wanted to. We won't be trading a 5th for TJ Watt or signing Von Miller to a $5M deal or anything like that, and the draft portion will be performed using a mock draft simulator to minimize me doing literally whatever I want.

#Part 1: Coaches

Under this scenario, Dan Quinn is hired to coach the Jacksonville Jaguars after Urban Meyer is unceremoniously dumped by the Khans. In addition, Mark Davis offers Kellen Moore a big bucket of money to coach the Raiders, prompting Jerry Jones to offer a truckload of money and push out Big Mike to keep Kellen in Dallas.

McCarthy is hired to replace Fangio in Denver. He takes Philbin with him, and Quinn takes Aden Durde to be his defensive coordinator.

At that time, Kellen's staff looks like this:

Offensive coordinator vacant Defensive coordinator
Quarterbacks Doug Nussmeier Defensive Line
Running backs Skip Peete Linebackers

Wide receive

The Federal Republican Primaries & Convention of 1896 | Peacock-Shah Alternate Elections

With Federal Republican parties in states such as Tennessee, Kentucky, and Wisconsin implementing primaries, the party shall see its first, very partially, direct presidential nomination as an aging conservative from the frigid Northeast challenges a Southwestern progressive.

Aaron Burr Houston: 42 year old incumbent President Aaron Burr Houston has led the progressive Federal Republicans to control the party. Houston has presided over the passage of laws raising tariffs, regulating railroads, enforcing prohibition, fought for an amendment directly electing senators, and accepted civil rights legislation while expanding the military and working to annex Hawaii. After narrowly losing the nomination of the opposition Farmer-Labor Party despite not lifting a finger in attempting to win it, Houston’s ally Theodore Roosevelt, who shall likely be his running mate if Houston wins a landslide, has worked to build a strong campaign for the President and ensure his renomination with appeals to every faction within the party, arguing to conservatives that Houston remains the party’s strongest candidate and branding Eugene Hale as a "malevolent enemy of the navy."

Eugene Hale: 60 year old Maine Senator Eugene Hale is the candidate of the party’s dedicated conservatives and anti-imperialists, who hail Hale’s rise from rags to riches and contrast it to Houston’s position as the son of a President. Hale, who entered politics as a Federalist years ago, is a leading member of the party’s conservative wing and has opposed most progressive legislation while strongly supporting tariff increases, a national sales tax to replace the income tax, and prohibition, nonetheless, he takes a differing view of foreign policy from many conservatives and has opposed the annexation of Hawaii, arguing that the United States although should maintain a strong navy to protect itself and ensure peace, it should not enter into foreign entanglements. He supported early efforts to expand the navy but has criticized Houston for running a deficit due to military spending, and has thus promised to cut the military budget. He is a supporter of civil rights legislation and has made courting black voters a priority, noting that Houston only permitted civil rights to pass in return for direct senate elections. A cold and aloof man, he has not utilized his rare yet sarcastically biting oratory to campaign in person, although his campaign managers have made speeches on his behalf.

Cowboys mock draft 12.27: Dallas drafts β€˜Mike Evans starter-kit’

The draft is crucial to a team’s current and future success.

Consider yesterday’s game as Exhibit A.

Of the 11 Cowboys rookies, seven were on the field against Washington. Those who weren’t included fourth-round linebacker Jabril Cox (injury), fourth-round offensive tackle Josh Ball (injury), fifth-round receiver Simi Fehoko (COVID) and sixth-round safety Israel Mukuamu (inactive-illness).

Out of those seven rookies, all received at least 15 snaps. That includes:

  • G Matt Farniok (Round 7, Nebraska): 15 snaps (7 on offense, 8 on special teams)
  • DL Quinton Bohanna (Round 6, Kentucky): 26 (24 on defense, or 40 percent, 2 on ST)
  • CB Nahshon Wright (Round 3, Oregon State): 37 (12 on defense, or 20 percent, and tied for team lead with 25 on ST, or 76 percent)
  • Edge Chauncey Golston (Round 3, Iowa): 43 (21 on defense, or 35 percent, and 22 on ST)
  • DL Osa Odighizuwa (Round 3, UCLA): 31 (29 on defense, or 48 percent, and 2 on ST)
  • CB Kelvin Joseph (Round 2, Kentucky): 57 (all on defense for a team-leading 95 percent)
  • LB Micah Parsons (Round 1, Penn State): 33 (all on defense, or 55 percent)

That’s right, Pro Bowl rookie and presumed Defensive Rookie of the Year Parsons received the fourth-most snaps among Cowboys rookies. One of the players ahead of Parsons? That would be Wright, who received his most extensive playing time of the season and was a staple on special teams.

Dallas’ other rookie cornerback, Joseph, not only received his first extensive playing time after the absence of Jourdan Lewis (COVID), he also played more snaps on defense than any player on the roster.

By contrast, Washington drafted 10 players this year. First-round LB Jamin Davis missed the game after experiencing Covid symptoms, and third-round CB Benjamin St.-Juste is on injured reserve. Seventh-round Edge William Bradley-King returned to the practice squad after missing time due to COVID.

Here’s what the other seven rookies did against Dallas:

  • OT Samuel Cosmi (Round 2, Texas) played all 60 plays on offense, tying him with four other linemen for 100 percent of the snaps
  • WR Dyami Brown (Round 3, North Carolina): 21 snaps (13 on offense, or 22 percent, and 8 on special teams)
  • TE John Bates (Round 4, Boise State): 47 (45 on offense, or 75 percent, and 2 on ST)
  • S Darrick Forrest (Round 5, Cincinnati): 37 (6 on defense and 31 on ST, or 94 percent, which tied for the team lead)
  • LS Camaron Cheeseman (Round 6, Michigan): 9 (all on ST)
  • Edge Shaka Toney (Round 7, Penn Stat

Transpersonal psychology teaches people how to manufacture individual "spiritual awakenings" in group settings, which theoretically cures mental illness and creates psychics by causing mental breakdowns. It is literally the blueprint for cult brainwashing. It's THE school for cult leaders and gurus.

---------------

Too long, not gonna read? Transpersonal Psychology is a pseudoscience that teaches professional therapists, spiritual directors, and New Age gurus how datamine, shock, and brainwash clients into new forms of behavior in a closed group system.

It is widely used to trauma bond people into various cults that are networked together in the spiritual emergency industry. Just google "spiritual emergency" and you'll see it immediately under different names: spiritual awakening; spiritual crisis; mystical psychosis. All those professional gurus that pop up are evil. They might not know it, because their mentors normalized them to think, "This is fine."

Transpersonal Psychology originates inside various traditional European religious systems, especially Christian cults which predate the Enlightenment by a lot. Its methods and original resources have been consistently preserved and used by various gnostic groups, for generations, because they are all historically affiliated with the same institution, even though they are not all ideologically or culturally aligned.

gnosticism (1st century) β–· monasticism (6th century) β–· alchemy (ca. 12th century) β–· Rosicrucians (17th century) β–· Theosophy (1875) β–· Transpersonal Psychology (1960s) β–· spiritual emergency industry (Present Day)

🍻

------------------

A small group of transpersonal specialists put me through an undisclosed "spiritual emergency" without telling me in advance what they were doing, or that they were transpersonal spiritual emergency specialists.

They just asked me to sign some waivers when I entered their seminary system to study interfaith spirituality. Then they introduced me to a support group where several volunteers gained my trust and then discretely ruined my life, on the theory that it would force me to grow spiritually.

That's what my transpersonal mentors called spiritual direction. They invited me to study this type of direction with them afterwards. I declined.

A Summary of President Aaron Burr Houston's Second Term (1897-1901) | Peacock-Shah Alternate Elections

A Japanese artists rendition of the First Battle of Hawaii, the largest of the Pacific War.

The primary event of President Houston’s term was the Pacific War, which one may find in four parts:

Part I

Part II

Part III

Part IV

Aaron Burr Houston, 21st President of the United States.

Administration:

Vice President: William M.O. Dawson

Secretary of State: Shelby M. Cullom

Secretary of the Treasury: Seth Low

Secretary of War: Galusha Grow

Attorney General: Louis Brandeis (1897-1899 (resigned)), Henry Teller (1899-1901)

Secretary of the Navy: Henry S. Boutell

Secretary of the Interior: Joseph M. Carey

Postmaster General: Charles J. Bonaparte

Secretary of Agriculture: Mary Elizabeth Lease

Secretary of Labor: Terence V. Powderly

Houston's cabinet largely carried over from his first term and remained remarkably consistent, yet he brought in two leading members of the Farmer-Labor Party to form what was dubbed his "coalition cabinet" as the Pacific War raged: 1892 Farmer-Labor presidential nominee Mary Elizabeth Lease and former General Trades Union President Terence V. Powderly, with Farmer-Laborite Henry Teller replacing Louis Brandeis as Attorney General following the former's resignation.

[Praised as the most influential Secretary of State in American history, Shelby M. Cullom has presided over the Pacific War, annexation of Hawaii, and what some have labelled \"America taking its place among the Great Powers.\"](https://preview.redd.it/6q8qjs4tp2x71.png?width=1339&forma

Cowboys mock 12.23: Which safety will the Cowboys draft in the sixth round?

The Dallas Cowboys are unlikely to draft a safety in the first round.

Or the second … or the third.

Despite mock drafts showing Dallas taking Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker in the first round, the Cowboys’ recent draft history says the team won’t take one until Day 3.

Or, more specifically, Dallas won’t draft a safety until the sixth round.

Consider the following:

  • The last time Dallas drafted a safety in the first round was 2002, when the team took Oklahoma’s Roy Williams with the No. 8 overall pick. This does not include Byron Jones, the Connecticut cornerback drafted by Dallas in the first round in 2015 who played safety for a few seasons out of necessity before moving back to corner.
  • The last time Dallas drafted a safety in the second round was 2001, when the team took Alabama’s Tony Dixon with the No. 56 overall pick. (Dixon was the team’s second second-round pick that year; the first was quarterback Quincy Carter out of Georgia.).
  • The last time Dallas drafted a safety in the third round was 2013, when the team took converted Georgia Southern wide receiver J.J. Wilcox with the No. 80 overall pick. No safety has been drafted higher by the Cowboys than Wilcox since then.

  • Kolby Harvell-Peel, Oklahoma State, No. 234: First safety under Mike Gundy to be named an AP All-American (third team) and was a first-team All-Big 12 selection
  • Joey Blount, Virginia, No. 255: 303 tackles and 9 INTs for his career
