Fourteen days since the People's Chamber and States Chamber have passed the resolution agreeing to the strike demands. Most of the strikes have dissipated, but there are still a sizable amount in the streets,, particularly with the protesters in Strausberger Platz. Food and other humanitarian aid has been able to arrive, and power has been restored to Berlin, with only small parts of the country still under blackout.

President Pieck entered his resignation today in front of the People's Chamber. He declared that he has served Germany for long enough, and that someone younger should take his place in order to serve modern Germany in a much better fashion. Pieck also mentioned the recent passing of Comrade Stalin only a few months prior, as well as his person disappointment and sadness from the recent tragedies.

As for the strikers and protesters, the German People's Police has taken to showing them kindness. People's Police units in Berlin and Rostock have distributed food and water to the protesters and have overall let them protest in peace. The Roter Frontkämpferbund has taken upon itself to do counter-protests, waving banners and holding signs in support of the government.

Pieck's desire for a younger successor indeed came true. The People's Chamber and States Chamber have elected Hermann Axen, who is only 36. Axen had until now been the head of Agitprop in the KPD. Axen, raised in a Jewish family, survived Auschwitz, Jawischowitz, and Buchenwald concentration camps before being liberated by U.S. troops in April 1945.

Axen is seen as polite and humorous, able to make anyone around him laugh. He is fluent in Russian, French, and English, and is described as being "reserved yet charismatic." Many in the GDR government have hope that Axen will be able to truly put an end to the to the protests and help put Germany back on an upward path.

Indeed, only an hour after being sworn in, Axen made his way to to Strausberger Platz (with security, of course.) Axen gave a short speech to the protesters, saying that he understands their grievances and "agrees with their right to protest the government." The People's Police have continued handing out food and water, and the Rotfront have continued their counter-protests.

The Chinese Workers’ Party now speaks of anti-Sovietism and “Red fascism”. They declare that Mao and the CPC have renounced the theories of Marx, Engels, and Lenin. Where is the proof? How dare they speak of renouncing the theories of Marx, Engels, and Lenin while letting the forces of reaction unite against China!

They announce themselves opponents of “totalitarianism.” We should not be surprised that the traitorous CWP is taking terms from the liberal Karl Popper. Truly, that is expected. The CWP is changing rapidly into an armed wing of the Chinese bourgeoisie. It has become an embryo for a bourgeoisie centered around the ideals of being “more leftist” and “more Leninist.” They have built up an opposition to the CPC and seek to completely destroy it.

Peng Shu-tse, a Chinese Trotskyite and member of the CWP said of the CPC, “The traitor Mao Tse-tung had realized that by neglecting the all-important question of proper Land Reform in the Chinese Communist Party, he would not have a rival against him in the ideological struggle; he had also realized that without a struggle against him, he would be free to live in luxury. His relative comfort had led him to the offensive, to shedding the blood of the working class and the peasantry, to a ruthless application of the policy of peaceful coexistence with imperialism and reaction and to the trade-union bureaucratization of the party, to criminal methods of investigation of and punishing leaders, among others.”

Peng’s explanation of the causes of the split is laughable. He speaks of the “luxury” that is the unification of the party and democratic centralism. Peng ignores the fact that the unity of the party was accomplished by the working class using its own organs. The “peaceful coexistence with imperialism and reaction” that Peng talks about, while aiding the American imperialists in creating a puppet in China to destroy socialism. Is that not worse than the supposed “peaceful coexistence?”

The situation in China has gotten worse. The so-called “Chinese Workers’ Party” has broken away from the Communist Party of China and from the Republic of China. They cite the reason for this as “Soviet imperialism” in East Turkestan and that their method is the “correct road towards socialism.” But let us investigate these claims.

The April Peace Treaty of 1949 gave hope to the peace-loving people of the world. A disastrous civil war had ended. The democratic coalition government of the Republic of China had formed. Only 100 days after the peace, the right-wing of the Kuomintang led by Cheng Qian began their rebellion by taking the city of Nanking. One would expect the CPC and the loyal parts of the Kuomintang to close ranks and put down this rebellion simply and quickly.

Yet that is not what happened. The “left-wing” of the party, particularly under the leadership of the commander Lin Biao, revolted and took up arms with Trotskyists. Now the Republic of China, under the honorable revolutionary Mao Tse-Tung, must face not only the American puppet state to its south, but traitorous ultra-leftists as well. Is there any real difference in the actions of the right-wing remnants of the Kuomintang and the ultra-left of the Chinese Workers’ Party when they now both serve the same goal of the destruction of Mao’s government? Should they be trusted when they call for Mao's assassination? Should we take the Chinese Workers’ Party’s stand on the matter of socialism seriously? We call for a faithful struggle against the attempts to destroy Mao's government. Mao’s government is a great bulwark of the revolutionary cause of the Chinese people and of the entire world, one that is being threatened by the counter-revolutionary and traitorous actions of the Chinese Workers’ Party.

The Chinese Workers’ Party then complains about the “Soviet imperialism” happening in the region of East Turkestan. Have they not read Lenin? The Soviet Army has been in East Turkestan not to pillage and exploit, but to help the Chinese government fight against reactionaries. Does the Chinese Workers’ Party have a problem with the defeat of reactionaries? Here we see the Chinese Workers’ Party side almost exactly with the American position.

The actions of the Chinese Workers’ Party tell us one thing: Trotskyites and ultra-leftists are simply stooges for imperialism and reaction and should be opposed in all circumstances.

Hello and welcome to another Progress Report! It’s been a while, isn’t it? Today we will be discussing the German Civil War, something that was widely demanded and sadly, didn’t make it to release. Let’s go!

The original concept

Back in 2018, when the mod was getting started, the German Civil War was shown in PR 10. It consisted in a 2-way conflict between the communists and the monarchists under Wilhelm II, with Bavaria and Prussia as possible splinter factions. Later in development, several decisions were made that drastically altered how the war would play out:

-The option to give power to the KPD directly after Schleicher resigned was removed. It was decided that civil war would be the only way to play as Communist Germany.

-The option to empower Wilhelm II in January 1933 was likewise removed, with the civil war being moved to the democratic section. This meant that the democrats would now have to be their own faction during the civil war, making it 3-way. It also meant that the right-wing side, Nationalists from now on, would be led by Hitler instead of Wilhelm II or other reactionary.

-Bavaria and Prussia were removed, and the civil war was changed to be fought strictly along ideological lines. Bavaria had content that was kept in game if it ever gets released as a puppet though.

So our new German Civil War features a 3-way conflict between the Weimar government (Republicans), the Nationalists and the Communists, and it may be accessed by choosing a democratic chancellor and failing to stabilise. As there’s a planned rework of the chancellor choices after Schleicher’s resignation (it won’t affect the paths themselves, it will just extend and improve the starting event chain), the exact way to get the civil war hasn’t been fully decided. Regardless of the event chain, at one point Germany will cross the “point of no return” and the Buildup Phase will begin.

The Buildup Phase

As I started to design the civil war, I wanted to give the player the ability to influence the starting setup a bit, allowing them to strengthen their prefered faction. In a 3-way conflict, this is rather important, and from KR ACW, vanilla SCW and TNO GCW, all of them have these kinds of things. However, I wanted to preserve the “playing as the government” feeling, unlike in vanilla SCW, as playing as either rebel faction would break the mod’s consistency. So, as the government, you can expect one of the factions to eventually rise up:

PART 1: ISAYAMA'S PROBABLE INSPIRATIONS IN THE CURRENT WORLD

Like the title suggests, in this post I will try to analyze in-depth all the mythological elements (MAINLY but not only from Norse/North Germanic mythology) and the parallels to real historical events I think Isayama drew ispiration from in order to plot his story. I will also offer my comprehensive theory on how the manga will end, based mostly on what we've seen so far. I can't stress enough that this is MY OPINION on the matter and I NEVER pretended, pretend or will pretend otherwise.

I will start by immediately making clear that I think the Rumbling will be stopped by the Alliance, that peace between Eldia and the rest of the world (including Marley) WILL, EVENTUALLY, be achieved and that, while I can't guarantee for Paradis as it currently stands, Eldians will still exists as a nation/ethnic group by the end of it, and NOT be exterminated.

If you fundamentally disagree with this view and CANNOT reconcile with it no matter what arguments I bring fort and will thusly refute an ending of this kind, no matter how well Isayama may explain or execute it, I suggest you to not even bother with this post and to stop reading it altogether right now. The others may continue instead.

After this disclaimer, I may begin by stating the obvious: Attack on Titan has a "Germanic" setting and is HEAVILY inspired by pre-Christian Germanic/Nordic mythos and beliefs. This is especially evident from the anime (but also from the manga, except perhaps not from the very first chapters) since the very beginning. Most of the characters have Scandinavian, German or English names (with few notable exceptions such as Mikasa, which is Japanese; Eren, which is Turkish; and a few other names that are Slavic in nature), whether they be of pagan or Christian origins. (If any of you is interested about this, I can further elaborate about the origins of the names of the characters in one of the next parts of this post. You'll have to ask in the comments for that, though.)

The funeral director was asking us what we think Mum should wear in her casket.

Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.

The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:

"What's sarong with that?"

I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).

His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.

Hello everyone! It's been less than two weeks since the release of 0.13, and we're here with what we hope will be the one and only hotfix necessary for it. It addresses a few minor crash issues and a whole host of bugs. We've done our best to keep this hotfix save-compatible, though as usual we can't guarantee that due to the weird things HoI4 sometimes done when content gets changed mid-game - so we recommend starting a new game.
