amherst supplement 7/10 i chose the diversity prompt but i think it wasnt as personal as it was supposed to be. kinda challenged institutions to do better in fostering an environment like that but also admitted there is a conscious effort needed by everyone first
LORs: guidance counselor: 7/10, basic info but he asked for more personal circumstances and stuff during covid so i think itll be more well rounded
math teacher: 5-7/10, i really dont know. had him for two years but one was on zoom, wasnt super personal w him but we did talk & had mutual interests so i think it will generally be positive, good grades as well
chinese teacher: 8/10, had her for three years and was a pretty good student who showed lots of effor

Hey guys! A year ago I was in your exact position - waiting for RD release dates to roll around, feeling mega stressed out, and being completely checked out of school. One thing I wanna say: It gets better. This period of your life is a terrible, anxious one - but it's also short. The things you're worrying about right now, by this time next year, will have all but dissolved, and you'll feel a lot better about where you're at.
I know the RD date for Wesleyan still hasn't been released, but I knew that at this time last year I still had questions about what it was actually like at Wes, and now I'm living it up on campus. So ask anything you want, and I'll answer with full honesty. Even if you're an ED admit and just wanna know more details before you head over - I gotchu.
BTW, I don't know what the current discourse about Wes is, but I wanna say that I can't think of a single person I know who doesn't like it here. Maybe it's just the ability to be with people during a pandemic giving everyone serotonin boosts, or maybe it's just a nice place to be. Heavily leaning towards the latter.

Let's say you're the type of person who stereotypically ends up at Wesleyan, Vassar, Oberlin or someplace like that. In other words, you're progressive, quirky, funny, artsy, musical, etc. Are there enough people like you at Amherst?
Hello! First post here. So I've been trying to decide between attending Vassar College or Wesleyan University next year. For much of April, I thought that I would end up committing to Wesleyan for various reasons. But now, I'm reconsidering my decision, and wondering if I should attend Vassar instead. My parents are urging me to make a decision soon, so I don't have much time left to think this over.
Both are about the same distance away, the same size, have open curriculums, and research in science (planning on double majoring in chemistry and computer science). Both of them are located in equally bland towns (wasn't a factor for me). I feel like I would be able to fit in at both, since they pride themselves on having a diverse, open environment (I'm wavering a bit on this one. I feel like I belong at Vassar more, but both have very similar people). What drew me to Wesleyan was their slightly better financial aid package (~4k more per year), its great housing program, and its higher ranking compared to Vassar. Wesleyan also has a tuition-free 5th year master's program, should I decide to continue higher education at the same institution (main reason).
However at Vassar, I might be able to appeal my fin aid decision with my Wesleyan letter, and ranking isn't everything. My cousin also attends Vassar, so I would have some support there, and I'm also intrigued by Vassar's carbon neutrality initiative (much better than Wesleyan's). (There's also a bubble tea shop close by... )
I joined both of their admitted students Facebook groups. A student who is transferring out of Wesleyan posted something quite controversial about the school, highlighting the school's past and current actions. Some of the topics included students being silenced about campus issues, lack of funding to an art center, Wes's lack of aid to FGLI students during the COVID crisis, and President Michael Roth's questionable history. I appreciated this post for bringing awareness about Wes's problems, and I realize that no school is perfect, but this has really forced me to rethink where I'm going to college. I don't know if I should have rethought all of this based on one person's opinion, but it would have been ignorant to just blow it off. Should I be basing my decision off the integrity of this school, of one man in particular? Or should I ignore it, and just cherish the opportunities I would be given regardless?
I know that Vassar, especially President Elizabeth Bradley, is doing al

Notes : I think I could be able to get some really good recommendations from at least 4 teachers. Right now I am debating going to a T20 (or T50; Iβm not exactly sure where I am) university versus going for a full tuition or full ride scholarship.
What do you think about me doing full time dual enrollment? Do you think that is a good decision if I am looking to save money in my undergraduate studies before going for a PhD in genetics?
