A list of puns related to "Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church"
Basically that's what the Mormons just did.
Are there any nearby Amish or Mennonite stores? Looking for bulk grocery items like wheat berries, local honey by the gallon, etc. I'm posting here because I'm not sure they would have websites. Let me know! Thanks
I am from Manitoba and it has a huge population of Mennonites, as well as Hutterite colonies and am aware how progressive and open Germany is, was curious to know if they also have farms in Germany.
Hi,
i put together a selected list of 5 documentaries about amish and mennonites.
You can find it here: https://www.thebestdocumentaries.com/doc/documentaries-about-amish-people
Hope you like it!
If there's some doc i should add, let me know!
From Ohio and I know they live here. I know she gives zero shits but itβs always been my understanding that Amish communities refrain from having their photos taken?
I know they usually donβt care about taking pictures around Amish country like of animals or of buildings but to photograph a face or them is bad form.
Am I wrong?
I'd imagine that they wouldn't oppress them because of their pacifism and history of tolerating refugees, unlike humanity in so many Transformers continuities alone, but how they'd interact with them would be interesting.
-Would they generally allow them to be used as farm equipment? Many do allow for some tech use for business purposes.
-Would they be willing to ride in self-driving cars for distances that are out of easy horse-and-buggy or bicycle range?
-Would they embrace robotics for disaster relief purposes, for instance fire prevention? Could robot-enhanced rescue services make it easier for them to get around fire safety codes?
-Could outsourcing defense and public safety to robots allow for a full-fledged Amish or Mennonite nation-state to emerge?
Having a little one soon, and I want to get one of those really well made glider type rocking chairs with good back support and arms for my wife to nurse in. I know they have these at random place's like Sauder's sometimes, and I could probably just drive towards Penn Yan on the weekend and find something, but I'm hoping you all might know a great place to go. Thanks in advance!
Iβm passing through the Finger Lakes this week on vacation and staying in Seneca Falls for the night. My wife and I went down to Lodi to visit the county high point and we passed through Romulus on the way and saw 5-10 presumably Amish families on horse drawn carriages. We also saw several farms that seemed to belong to them as well.
Iβm interested because I wasnβt expecting there to be any Old Order peoples here at all; I was under the impression that they were all located in PA and OH. I was wondering if you all could tell me about them as there isnβt very much information available online.
Have they always lived in this area? What kind of stuff do they believe in? Are they cultish like the Amish in Stoning In Fulham County or they just typical fundamentalists? Do they go to school? Where are they going when they take their carts into town?
Sorry if these are ignorant questions but I have very little exposure to these groups of people and Iβm very interested, thank you.
Passed by a burger joint in Pico Rivera last night and there was a crowd of about 25 eating burgers. Anyone know what this was about? I'm curious
American here. Wondering what Germans think of German descended groups in America who are characterized by traditional clothing, reluctance to use technology (varying degrees), and a high birth rate and religiosity.
I imagine it would be similar to an English speaker encountering a society of pre-industrial English speakers who sound like Shakespeare.
Any thoughts on these people?
My education was limited and weird, and there were so many things I wasn't taught about my body that I didn't learn until I was well into adulthood. Not just consent, but reproductive biology, menopause, gender and sexual diversity, etc. I know these kinds of topics are controversial in the US more generally speaking, but am curious how you all learned about what bodies are and can do. I'm working on a basic education course for other exes and a key component is a section on puberty, basic biology, consent, and hormones. There have been awesome questions about consent on this page, but I would love to know how folks learn about some of these other aspects of bodily knowledge.
I am by no means a follower of either but just this year alone, look at how many people complained and cried about 2020, about all sorts of things.
All this time, the Amish and mennonites lived more or less in relative harmony. They are so against "The modern world" that they restrict access to important technology. Their children aren't born in hospitals, they're born at home, they dont eat anything that their community hasn't raised. They dont have Facebook or Instagram.
Yes, we could say their religious beliefs are silly and ridiculous but look at how much bolder they are in sticking to their beliefs. Their life is so ugly and unendurable to us because we live in a world of great luxury. And so whenever you have people complaining about masks and other contemporary problems, you should see how so many people in your own country live and see how many of them are fine with it.
I dont think that they are very silly. In fact, there are far sillier cultures in our age. Some you could even find here on Reddit.
I just started season 2 and I have many questions about the world of βThe Man in the High Castleβ.
I wonder what happened to the Amish and Mennonite communities in the American Reich. Both groups are pacifists so that would not fit in the Nazi plan. The Amish and Mennonite originate from what is now Germany so they would technically be Aryans by default.
I donβt think the Nazis would completely wipe out both groups. I think they would βGermanizeβ the younger generation, forcing them to learn modern German. I could see Lancaster County in Pennsylvania becoming a human zoo. High ranking Nazi families like the Smiths would go there to see the βlost Aryansβ. Amish crops would be reserved for the tables of the SS.
What do you think?
As the title states, I'm really interested in the Mennonite Church. Help me understand more
