A list of puns related to "Wayward Pines"
The idea behind teenage girls trying to survive in the wilderness, succumbing to cannibalism and brutality all while losing their minds is SO incredibly interesting all on it's own. I remember watching Wayward Pines when it first aired and being obsessed with the idea up until they introduced all the other humanoid crap and it just ruined the rest of the show for me. I really hope this show doesn't feed into the supernatural parts like Lottie's visions.
I know these movies are all very different but you get the idea. Everything starts tranquil and maybe wholesome and slowly something else turns out.
Edit: Typo, should be Midsommar.
About 2 weeks ago I got "Pines" on Audible and I got hooked immediately. I'm close to finishing the first book so I went to get the next one on Audible, and it wasn't there. I looked for it on Amazon Kindle and Google Play as well, and nowhere has it anymore.
I tried searching for Pines, which I already have, and it's not even on Audible anymore. I can't find anything about copyright issues or any reason why the books should have been pulled, but I can't find them anywhere now. Does anyone know what's going on with them or if I can find them somewhere else to listen to?
Help me please Reddit.
I love Horror, but lately I've been struggling to find stuff that engages me. I've started and abandoned more books lately than I've finished. I keep running into brain-dead characters and plots that are more plot-hole than plot.
The books listed in the title are my favorites. Something VERY strange happens, something creepy and weird, and half of the fun is trying to figure out what is going on and why, and the other half is the sweet payoff once you figure it out, and it does indeed make sense. All along you have smart characters, acting non-suicidally.
Help me? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I liked the mystery and the cult-like atmosphere and then the autor decided >!to turn things into a bad sci-fi!<
Spoilers: >!WTF is human genome degradation? Freezing everybody just postpones the problem. I feel the science is really bad and the monsters/abbys makes no sense!<
I am finishing the first book, but it left me a bad impression. I don't know if i want to read the other two.
I like my sci-fi to be more like Rendezvous With Rama.
I liked the thriller aspect, but not enough to forget about the rest.
It gets better or it keeps being illogical?
I enjoy series that are about small town mysteries and the people living in it.I am looking for suggestions. Thanks in advance!
Edit: thank you for answering!I looked up all your suggestions so far and there are definitely some series in it that i will enjoy.
Spoiler Alert:
Iβm assuming Iβm missing something. Iβm on season 1 episode 6 and itβs been driving me crazy trying to figure out when everyone was cryogenically frozen, because if the officer was cryogenically frozen, how the heck was he able to leave Wayward Pines and clip the wires to Ben and Benβs momβs car?! Ethan saw them literally the same day so that means they had to have knocked him out or something to meet up with them in the future? Maybe I need to keep watching to find out, but if thereβs no answer, can someone explain?
I believe the book was mystery/ science fiction , it was written by an older man I remember him giving out his book for free at the festival of books in Los Angeles around 2012-2015 cant exactly pin the date, I had the book but I moved and lost in a few years back.
Synopsis: The book is about a man who finds himself trapped in this mysterious town I think in Iowa, he's driving there something happens(I'm sorry I cant remember , I believe his car stops working once he gets there and there's also a barrier that keeps people from leaving or finding it easily, it involves certain level of magic ,no casting spells or such, just somewhat supernatural there was a witch doctor character, I remember there being a woman that he becomes close to I believe she worked at the bar or convenience store.
Apologies if this is too vague, I don't remember there being anything distinctive on the cover either it might've just been tan with the title
is there any way of watching this now? it would blow my moms mind!
Mystery, Horror films or shows like Lost, Wayward Pines where the person wakes up in an unknown, location.
My name is Blake Crouch and I am the author of fourteen novels, including Dark Matter, Recursion, the Wayward Pines trilogy, Abandon, and Run. I co-created the television show Good Behavior (TNT), based on my Letty Dobesh stories, and Wayward Pines was adapted into an event series for FOX, directed and executive-produced by M. Night Shyamalan, and starring Matt Dillon, Melissa Leo, Terrence Howard, and Juliette Lewis. I write books. I create television. I write films. Iβm here to answer questions about my work, my writing process, or my dog, BoJack. Heβs awesome.

Ask me anything!
Hello. I watched both seasons, and first is definitely better, but since i like little town mysteries i enjoyed second too. It was very good for me. So if you know some shows with little towns with mysteries i would like to hear. I know about Twin Peaks and Haven, and i was try with Haven but didn't like acting.
So I just finished reading Wayward Pines and my favorite part was in the second book where the main character knew the big secret and others didnt. So I'm looking for more books with this feeling, you know like "If only you guys knew"... I would really prefer it to be single PoV, too.
im looking for another thriller book like silent hill esk stuff something dark. Hidden in the shadows a real page turner somthing that can break my heart in moments (books i already read are most steven king books and all 3 wayward pine books)
Is it worth reading? Iβve watched the first season of the TV series back then and frankly, I vaguely remember what itβs about then I found out about the books just now. Is it worth picking up?
EDIT: I have decided that Iβd buy them on my next paycheck. Thank you, people of r/horrorlit π
Has anyone built a Minecraft version of pines? If not, does anyone want to potentially collaborate on a world?
Looking for any good indie or canadian movies like freaks, wayward pines (S1) types of movies
Clues all over the movies and when you watch it 2nd time you goes "ahh" types of movies
Thanks
It appears the book is included in the "free audiobooks included with KU" and because of that it won't let me do the whispersync deal to buy it for 1.99. I see the price and all and when I click on it it says I already own the book :(
Any solutions?
EDIT: Thank you all for stopping by! So much fun! I am stepping away for a bit, but will answer whatever questions come through during the next day, so feel free to keep them coming!
Hi, Reddit! I wrote DARK MATTER and WAYWARD PINES, which was also a FOX event series, and co-created the TNT show GOOD BEHAVIOR, starring Michelle Dockery. DARK MATTER is just out in paperback for the summer. Iβll start answering your questions at 3pm ET today!

Pilcher did all this because of a genetic mutation that was discovered in human DNA, indicating that our impacts to the environment caused it. So, he creates an ark to bump humans past the catastrophe. But didnβt the humans he βsavedβ all have the mutation too? Is he just postponing the inevitable?
With being stuck inside my house for a good bit, I decided to check Hulu to see if there's anything mystery-related and I came across Wayward Pines. While I did have some vague remembrance of it back in 2014, it never really took off 100% which is understandable. Summer network shows aren't seen by many and usually their throwaway shows that the network wants to forget about and that's what I expected was that but in reality, Wayward Pines is one of Fox's best shows in the last decade. Is that a high bar? Probably not but it still says something.
Wayward Pines is like Twin Peaks but with something a little more then I won't spoil since I don't think a lot of people have watched it. It helps that it has a solid crew behind and in front of the camera. You had a M. Night Shyamalan directing the pilot and as an executive producer. Other directorial talents like Zal Batmanglij, who would go on to be one of the creators of The OA along with Brit Marling and James Foley who directed Glengarry Glen Ross and multiple episodes of House of Cards. The writing crew also had Blake Crouch who wrote the books the show is based on and The Duffer Brothers who wrote 5 episodes and don't need an introduction.
There's also plenty of acting talent to go along as well. With Matt Dillon (Crash and The Outsiders) as the lead who's severely underrated, there was Carla Gugino (The Haunting of Hill House), Toby Jones (The Mist), Juliette Lewis (Cape Fear), Terrance Howard (Hustle and Flow and Crash), Charlie Tahan (Super Dark Times) and Mellissa Leo (Treme, I'm Dying Up here and Mildred Pierce). It's a pretty solid cast for a show though it was probably because of the limited series thing the show was going for in the first season.
Trust me when I say that the first season of Wayward Pines is fantastic and with a solid combination of Twin Peaks and Stephen King's works it's a solid show to get engaged. Though I will say don't watch the second season because it is not worth watching.
I'll start off by saying this, Blake Crouch is very underrated imo. Some people say his writing is choppy/bad, but i find it very good and he knows how to carry a suspenseful story. Then again, these are opinions.
So, back to the trilogy. The story is great. The idea of the human species evolving into something so inhumane was so cool to me.
Something that idk if many people will agree with me on is my view on Dr. Pilcher.
I dont believe he was a bad guy. Or to rephrase it, i dont believe he's as bad as the townees make him out to be. This man was a genius. He singlehandedly came up with the idea of carrying a whole species way beyond where it was supposed to go. His ways of control are debateable, i agree, but he already mentioned how he tested telling people the truth from the beginning and it all failed miserably.
You can think of many ways he could've done what he did without affecting some people's lives but hey, i think his way was one of the best. Minus him killing his own daughter and having a God-complex (although I really liked it when he described why he thinks he's God to them, it kind of made sense how someone can reach this mindset)
Anyways, I really liked this series and I would like to hear what you guys think of what I said.
Trying to pinpoint a specific genre here, but not sure what to call it. Huge David Lynch fan, loved all of his films as well as Twin Peaks. I seem to be hooked on things that focus on the dark underbelly of the small town America facade (TP, Wayward Pines) and also things involving lost/forgotten or secretive government testing/experiment type things (think Wayward Pines again, Lost, or the video game Portal).
Thank you!
Asking for a friend.
