I want to make sure I am spending my money with the right person as the price difference could be thousands.

One neuro optometrist has told me that the two are the same thing just different names where another one told me that they should not be confused and that vision therapy is an additional type of therapy that is sometimes needed. But I’m confused because apparently both utilize therapeutic prisms, lenses, filters and occlusion..

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, so if it isn't, i am sorry.

When someone goes blind, they require special training to help them learn how to carry out daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, paying bills, doing their grocery shopping, taking the subway, etc. I work for a small private company that provides this training to adults between the ages of 18 and 65.

Who is Power Girl?

Power Girl is in that strange category of superheroes who aren't quite iconic enough to be household names, but can still spark arguments among hardcore fans. Yet most of her notoriety stems from exactly one thing. And if you're a fan, you probably already know what I mean.

First making her debut in All-Star Comics #58 in February 1976, Power Girl (also known as Karen Starr and Kara Zor-L) first came to prominence as a member of the superhero team "The Justice Society of America". She can fly, she's superhumanly strong, and she has x-ray vision and heat vision—which you might recognize as Superman's powers. That's because she's also Superman's cousin, and a fellow survivor of the planet Krypton's destruction.

Now, even if you're only casually aware of the Superman comics, you might know that Superman has a younger female cousin who also fights crime. But doesn't she call herself "Supergirl"?

Well, yes. And that's where it gets complicated.

See: Power Girl is actually an alternate version of Supergirl from the alternate world of "Earth 2"—which is technically a whole universe, and was created before there was an "Earth 1". And, strangely enough, that's probably the least confusing thing about this whole mess.

How Did We Get Here?

So why is there an alternate version of Supergirl?

Answering that question actually requires diving head-first into the bizarre history of American superhero comics and their odd relationship with American history.

See: the American comic book industry really took off at the height of the Great Depression, when cheap entertainment was in high demand. Comic books were an appealing source of affordable entertainment for American kids struggling through the Depression, and superhero stories were a great escapist fantasy for people who needed a spark of hope in a time of hardship and uncertainty. I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I did not define myself as an executioner, though this was part of who I was.

First and foremost I would say I was a husband and a father. I have two girls, both grown up and moved out. I had a son as well. He was stillborn. I find it hard to describe the hurt this caused, and the pain and confusion which followed.

The other significant thing that made me who I was, was my job. I was a correctional officer at the maximum security facility located on the outskirts of my home town.

When I was a child my father used to warn me that if I was bad I would be sent to the Big Building and locked in a cell till I was old and grey and my teeth fell out. That, if I was really bad, they would fry me.

He died of a cancer ten years ago. He was a fifty a day man and the darkness which spread through his lungs took its sweet time. Whenever I could over the last few months of his life I used to sit by his bed and read to him. His grasp of what was happening around him was pretty much shot by the end and he was clearly not following the magazine articles or short stories I had been reading. Then I found a bunch of old comic books lying around on a table in the hospital and thought, Why not. I sat and read through the captions and the speech bubbles, making all the sounds. They were about monsters, stupid really, but I noticed that he was responding. It was nothing more than the faintest trace of a smile or a flicker of his eyelid but I believed it was some comfort to him.

Long before he fell ill, it was my father who encouraged to me become a correctional officer. It was, as he said, a job with a future. “We ain’t never going to run out of criminals,” as he put it. And there was a health care plan and a pension. So I went for the interview and passed all the aptitude tests.

Since I began working at the facility, the job has changed. A lot of this, I would say, was down to the management. The state used to run the facility and there was an emphasis on education and rehabilitation - even for the Lifers.

Then the facility moved into private ownership and a new ethos of just keep them locked away came in.

Blow were flawed, in my opinion. But it was a good job and by the time I reached a certain age it was too late to walk away and start again. My health plan and pension had been joined by a mortgage, car repayments, college funds and credit card debts.

So I stuck at it and did the best I could.

Hi, I've twice had a tear of my retina that's been fixed. I appreciate I'm not necessarily any more prone to further problems but I'm just worried about the future. I know I could lose my sight. I'm asking for your suggestions for things I could consider setting in place now to assist my future should it happen. EDIT: I now have reason to believe that the MDMA I took probably had nothing (or very, very little) to do with my VSS. I'm 99% certain it was vaccine-induced.

Hey guys, thought I'd share my story so far being 5 months in.

Male, 29, Denmark. My VSS was triggered by (but not completely limited to) MDMA, as my symptoms started 2 days after doing it. I guess you could maybe call it HPPD since it was drug-induced, but I don't have any of the hallucinatory symptoms that HPPD'ers usually report of. Also, two weeks prior to doing the MDMA, I got my first C-19 jab, which I believe kicked off a domino effect that ultimately induced my VSS. More on that later.

Anyway, 2 days later I woke up with severe vertigo, which lasted for about a week. Also, my vision was fucked up. I wasn't seeing any snow just yet as far as I recall but my vision was blurry and somehow lagging behind.

I went to 2 different GP's to no avail. Took me about a month to figure out that what I'm experiencing is actually VSS. Since the onset of symptoms, I've had symptoms both subside completely and new ones appear.

Completely gone symptoms:- Pulsating eyes/vision- Trouble looking at screens- Bubble-like vision at a distance- General dizziness/vertigo- Dry eyes- Text moving/dancing on screen- Clogged feeling in right ear- Dizziness and tingling between eyes when looking at fast-moving objects, like cars driving past

Ongoing symptoms:- Transparent visual snow (slightly improved)- Pattern glare (slightly improved)- Tinnitus (significantly improved)- Hyperacusis (slightly improved)- Strong afterimages- Sensitivity to strong lights (traffic lights, car lights etc.)- Starbursting- BFEP- Purkinje tree (only when waking up)

These past 5 months have without a doubt been the worst and most challenging of my life, but I'm determined to find some kind of treatment for this shit, seeing as official research on the matter is slow as hell.

So what am I doing? I'm currently working with 3 different people;- A former neuro scientist specializing in treating patients with long-term concussion symptoms- A neuro-optometrist that's (by his own words) succesfully treated VSS patients- A tinnitus expert named Liam Boehm who's cured both his own and 300+ people's tinnitus so far

Mark eased himself onto the bar stool at Billy’s Bar and Grill attached to the local mall with a tired groan, and ordered a beer when he managed to catch one of the bartenders’ attention.

The place was pretty packed, despite the late hour. They were probably here for the same reason he was. A chance to unwind, now that the curfew was over.

He was working a strange afternoon shift, and almost any time he wasn't at work or sleeping he couldn't leave the house for those long months, cooped up with his wife of two years with almost no other human contact.

He loved Melissa, that was never in doubt. Married to his high school sweetheart after dating since senior year, he knew he was very lucky, but you could only be trapped in an apartment with a double art and psych major for so long before going a little mental.

So the plan was to have a nice tall drink, get off his aching feet for a little while, then head back home.

It felt like a boomer move, despite being only 23.

He glanced around as he waited for his beer. The restaurant tables were mostly full, and half the barstools too. Nothing really caught his eye until he spotted one of the standing tables that was entirely occupied by purple.

The four alien women were a study in contrasts as he stared. Ponytail looked dour and grumpy at something Blue Highlights was saying with a grin, while White Braid looked to be humoring Black Bob who was excitedly pointing at different parts on a menu.

If it wasn’t for the extra few hundred pounds each of body mass and the purple skin, they’d almost look like a group of regular girls on a night out.

He didn’t deal with them much, only having had a couple run-ins with the new alien overlords. Catcalls in the summer were the norm, and one or two propositions for sex, while off-putting in their delivery, he secretly enjoyed the feeling of being seen as desirable.

Blue Highlights started to look around the room, and Mark only realized he had been staring for too long when they made eye contact.

Hello and welcome to the first of (hopefully many) Spanish Progress Reports. My name is Vergara (vergara#7521), Lead Developer for Spain. I’d like to take the opportunity of this progress report to formally mention the updates and developments within Red Flood. As many have heard, Red Flood is changing, and for the better. With the small (and admittedly on-brand) slip up regarding our Discord server (the new one which you can find here), the damage done was severe. Yet thanks to our dedicated developers and administrators, we pulled ourselves up, reconstructing Red Flood with determination and resolve. In the process of rebuilding, however, we discovered reinvigorated spirits and a conviction that it had brought us together. Starting from scratch has given us a fresh view on many topics which troubled us. We know what Red Flood is and what isn’t, what we want and what we reject, how to work on it, and what to avoid. Red Flood isn’t a catalog of “funny people” to pick from, nor is it a parody of the “what if X won WW1?” genre. Red Flood is, first and foremost, a mod about a prolonged crisis of modernity. We present a scenario in which there was no “return to order” after the avant-garde experiments of the interwar era, a scenario where the entire planet has to face and answer to the death and failures of modernity. So said Antonio Gramsci, “The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.” The Age of Extremes, as it’s known in historiography, has given renewed strength to the millenarianism that dominated public consciousness before it was (tragically or thankfully) cut short in the real world. Our narratives, stories, characters, and direction will aim to reflect this mindset with skill and creativity, as we hope to deliver a product that we hope fans can enjoy and feel pride in.
