A list of puns related to "Vacation Related"
I set my alarm β°οΈ for tomorrow.
I read this years ago, it was a joy. The book is written by a family who built a cabin on waterfront property in the Northeast. They spend the entirety of each summer building it over what seemed like 10-15 years. The family was related to Julia Child - and I believe there is a mention of her visiting the cabin.

This question is not strictly related to FIRE, but I have been wondering about this a lot.
I try to understand the cost and benefit of different expenses. Some of the examples are
Nicer home which is pleasant to live in
Taking vacations
Appointments with therapists.
While buying a printer for work is easy to understand, since it's obviously going to help you make money, but these things are more difficult to assess.
I can argue that:
Having a nice, pleasant home will make you more productive esp if you WFH.
Vacation boosts your energy and regular vacations are good for you.
Same with therapy. Health mind = better ideas = good work
Now the problem is where to find the sweet spot. Should I live in $500 house or $5000 house? Should I take 3 vacations or year, or 12 vacations a year? What's a good balance which delivers the best result.
Tl;dr; My question is "How do I assign a $ value to something" so I can save and spend money more efficiently?
Hi everyone, I am about 1 month into working at Amazon FC and I started out working dayshift because that was the only open shift available but I really wanted to work night shifts. I just got an offer to transfer to night shift. Do I keep the UPT/PTO/Vacation hours that I have right now or it will reset to the 10hrs PTO and 10hrs UPT as ifwe are a βnew hireβ?
Thank you!
Thank you guys, really appreciate ur answers.
Alright so Iβll try to make it as short as I can. Iβve been w my boyfriend for almost 2 years and weβve been doing long distance for a big chunk of it. I havenβt seen him in almost 5 months and was planning (and still am) on going to him over the summer at the beginning of June.
A week ago though he announced me that he will be going on vacation with his family for two weeks and I will have to push back the date to go there. I hadnβt bought any tickets but it made me a bit upset because we had planned this for months. He did say that he hasnβt had a family vacation with everyone in years and itβs the only time everyone is available so I understood where he was coming from.
The thing that idk how to feel about is that whenever he would talk about his and his familyβs financial status he would often make it seem like theyβre not doing great and that they need to be careful with their spendings. When they were planning where to go, his sister actually asked me if I know any affordable places and I wrote huge paragraphs with ideas and locations Iβve been to that were really inexpensive and also very pretty and she seemed very thankful. However, in the end they decided to go and stay in some pretty expensive locations and also quite expensive resorts. This didnβt really make sense to me so I asked him if this was really the best idea. This discussion wasnβt the most pleasant I would say and he actually got offended and told me I shouldnβt worry about his familyβs financial status because βthere are a lot of things I donβt knowβ.
Now I did get a little annoyed too because all I was doing was show concern, he didnβt have to get defensive. Weβve always been very open about everything and when weβre together my money is his money and vice versa so it was a weird reaction coming from him. I did decide to just stop inquiring about it and let it be.
Today is their first day of vacation and he keeps sending me pictures of the place and how excited he is. I am very happy heβs finally spending time with his family but I canβt say Iβm not a little jealous since I havenβt seen him in a long time and I wish I was on a vacation with him too, but Iβm trying not to show it coz I donβt want to ruin his time. On the other hand Iβm also still kind of bothered by the whole βfinancial statusβ situation and kind of feel like Iβve been lied to.
Is my reaction too much ? Is it just because I miss him and Iβm kind of envious ? Was I in the wrong ? What do you guys think ?
Good morning Chicago,
Other than your awesome Museums (Science and Industry; Aquarium; Children's) was wondering what suggested attractions you have.
My son plays/learning the violin and piano; so something along that would be interesting.
The OG COVID thread is officially outdated, and I havenβt felt like addressing that until now.
I canβt be the only person tired of fielding the same βwhat can/should I do for my inappropriate and immature trip to NOLA during a global pandemicβ question. However, since this is /r/AskNOLA and we pride ourselves on being nicer than those in /r/NewOrleans, Iβm putting this question out to our subreddit:
For the time being, how should we on the mod team handle these types of questions? Another mega thread? Should we be removing these posts? Or should we leave them up for the community to decide their fate with voting and comments?
Obviously, the number 1 rule is being asshole will get you banned. Period. Any poster who is rude to our members will not be allowed to participate, no matter what you think is right or wrong. But beyond that, what would you like to see happen?
Hey there fellow horror lit lovers! This month I have found myself in the mood for something somewhat specific: horror related to the theme of vacations gone wrong or tourists in the wrong place at the wrong time. I just read βThe Forgotten Islandβ by David Sodergren (highly recommend him btw) set in Thailand and now Iβm partially through βThe Ruinsβ by Scott Smith set in Mexico. I didnβt even consciously choose to read two books in a row that were similar themes but now I NEED MORE.
Surprisingly, I feel like I havenβt had luck with simply googling this so I thought Iβd turn to you guys. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, FYI, it could be set anywhere in the world really, as long as it has a similar feel to the themes and books Iβve mentioned. Thanks ahead of time for any comments and I truly hope you all are staying safe out thereπ
