A list of puns related to "Unruh Civil Rights Act"
The California Unruh Civil Rights Act prevents businesses and their employees from discriminating against people based upon race, sex, religion, medical condition, and other categories. However, it doesn't quite specify whether or not it protects people who are poor.
If someone looks to be low income, whether or not they actually are, businesses may not want to service them and instead they may want to prevent these individuals from ever coming near their stores again by way of physically barring these individuals from the vicinity. Law enforcement provides services to businesses and removes unwanted individuals, but is this legal?
The Unruh Act states that it has been used to protect people who appear to have some physical characteristic that makes them look or sound different. It has been used to protect against other forms of discrimination but does not specifically say poverty. I am wondering what other Californians think of this. What are your experiences?
