David Robinson Simon (/u/meatonomics), author of Meatonomics, is a vegan lawyer, animal activist, and advocate for sustainable consumption. He regularly brings lawsuits against animal abusers and the venues that house them, and he serves on the advisory council of the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) and on the boards of Animal Protection and Rescue League (APRL) and the APRL Fund. Dave received his B.A. from U.C. Berkeley and his J.D. from the University of Southern California. He lives in Northern Nevada with his partner, artist Tania Marie, and their rabbit and two cats.
Some of the current lawsuits David is involved with seek to challenge rodeos, horse racing, foie gras, ritual animal killing, and the suppression of animal activists’ free speech rights.

My grandpa stocked the pond on the property I live at years ago, and I’ve enjoyed fishing in it since I moved in to the house that sits on the property.
This neighbor of mine saw me out fishing Monday evening, and she decided to trespass onto my property, after I told her that she couldn’t hop the property fencing. She did anyways. She proceeded to tell me what to do “if you can’t give me a valid reason for why you need to fish, then pack your shit and leave!”
I didn’t really say much to her, I just had to keep reminding her that it’s my ground, so I can fish, and she’s trespassing. She also tried asking to see my fishing license, which I don’t have to show her unless she’s got a DNR badge.
I should’ve filmed it, because I just now found out that hunter/angler harassment is a thing, a serious thing.
I could’ve tossed her my biology textbook and she wouldn’t have found any valid reasoning to satisfy her for why I fish.
Some people though.

I have a thought: is most of the money going toward saving animals based on their physical appearance? If so, what does that say about how we treat other humans?
