Hi everyone, what I am about to share represents hundreds of hours of searching through users' legacy (Xbox 360) file shares for classic custom games and indexing them into google sheets over the past 4 years. It began as a personal project back in 2018 to locate and preserve the best original custom files for my annual 16-player LAN parties. This year, I decided to go all-in and attempt to create the most complete and accurate custom games archive for Halo 3 and Halo Reach classic. Many of these files have been lost to time until now. I would have posted it sooner, but it was not in the state I wanted. So, the past 3 months I have been working overtime to get it to where it is now (Yes, my wife is about to kill me). I am excited to finally share it with the community. Here it is:

The spreadsheet contains legacy file share locations specifically focused on preserving *original* custom games files by the *original* authors. If your gamertag is included on the list, thank you for helping to preserve these files so gamers can enjoy them for years to come. Also, thanks to the talented content creators and forgers who gave us these awesome maps and gametypes. Many of you have moved on from Halo but your creative work will never be forgotten.

What makes this spreadsheet different from the mega packs and similar Google sheet docs

90% of the listed authors and file share locations are verified to be the original files we all played back in the day. If I couldn't find the original, I found and tested the next most accurate file by date, file name, and file share prevalence. The goal was to research, identify, and locate as many popular Halo 3 and Halo Reach custom games as possible.

How did I verify which files are the original? I'm a bit of a perfectionist and very analytical, so I used the internet archive / Wayback machine (archive.org) to view the most popular community files on bungie.net between Sept. 25th, 2007, to Nov. 6th, 2012. This was a very long process. I painstakingly combed through as many archived bungie.net webpages as I could and recorded maps, gametypes, authors, and dates for the most downloaded custom games (i.e. THE TRAIN, Jaws, Ghostbusters, Trash Compactor, Duck Hunt, Fat Kid, Monster Jam x , Jenga

If you could have five guitars and the goal was for the collection to be as sonically and aesthetically diverse as possible, what would be in the line up?

I’m thinking broad strokes here: body shape, pickup arrangement and build, rather than a list of five custom shop specials.

Right now I’m thinking:

• Fender Stratocaster SSS
• Fender Telecaster
• Gibson ES-335 w/P90s
• Gibson Les Paul
• Martin Dread

But I’m keen to hear your thoughts - would you switch in a Jazzmaster, an SG, a Custom 24, something else?

TLDR: Is ultimate guitar pro worth it for experienced users?

I’ve been playing for over 10 years and I’m fairly good at picking up songs/chords by ear. But I’ve been using the free version a bit recently and all the ads are pretty annoying.

I know the subscription gets rid of ads and has other features, but idk what they are.

Does anyone who’s been playing for a long time and has the pro subscription think its worth it?

For me I find some popular songs really off. I do not understand why people insist of posting their own transcriptions when they are so off. Is it some kind of community thing, so that you get points or something?

I want to take a moment to celebrate the time and attention you invest into making your product terrible. Although I seldom find myself using tabs anymore, I occasionally stumble across UltimateGuitar. In those rare moments, I’m able to bask in the manipulative glory of the deliberately-horrendous website you’ve designed. For a few brief seconds I stop to appreciate the great lengths you go to in order to make life miserable for novice guitar players.

We are long overdue for a celebration of the sheer amount of effort you put into making UltimateGuitar suck:

• You designed a web app that deliberately does NOT fit to screen in most use cases

• You block the player’s view with more ads than any other web app I’ve seen

• You hide chord diagrams on purpose

• You spontaneously block scrolling! This one is pretty brilliant, because it only kicks in when the player pauses interaction with your app to play - you effectively prevent scrolling through a song while playing along.

• You use SEM to crowd out all the superior tablature from search results

All of this, of course, is in service of forcing players to download your app, one of the world’s worst apps, which takes over the device and is riddled with pop ups, deep links, dark paths and (I must assume) pseudo-spyware.

If I ever bump into someone from UltimateGuitar at a CA show I look forward to the opportunity to “congratulate you” - you do so much to support up-and-coming players, you deserve everything that’s coming.

I find some of the advertising a tad on the obnoxious side and the tabs are really slow to load - sometimes they take 30 seconds or more while the site waits for a content delivery network. What are your go-to tab sites?

i was trying to find the guitar tab to the unreleased song "lets go (battle)" and the website had tabs come up in the search results, but when i clicked on them, a message popped up saying "Sorry, this artist has told us we can't show this tab."

i then tried looking up a bunch of other taylor songs and it looks like any song that isn't on folklore or evermore isn't allowed to be displayed. I tried songs off of every album, including vault tracks, songs off albums that have been rerecorded, songs that haven't been rerecorded, and songs off lover, which taylor has always owned. has anyone else noticed this? what's up with that

i personally really dislike this. the songs have been out for years, people should be allowed to cover them on their own regardless of whether they have taylor's versions or not. i know other websites have tabs and chords for these songs that haven't been taken down, but ultimate guitar's been my go-to for years, so it's pretty frustrating. i really hope this is something temporary while licensing agreements are being sorted out. (although if that's the case i don't understand why lover songs are also being blocked)

*From a guitar player's perspective.

Everyone loves to obsess over the two Randy Rhoads albums for the legacy aspect and who he was but in my opinion, just going over each and every song on Ultimate Sin as a metal guitarist, most the songs are incredible from a player's perspective. Jake E Lee wrote and arranged such incredible work. I know Bark at the Moon usually gets the spotlight, but it's his last album with Ozzy that's truly a masterpiece on the guitar, the riffs, the arrangements, the composition, the production it encapsulates Ozzy Osbourne as an 80s artist so well. I love the Zakk Wylde stuff too, but for an era I think Ultimate Sin really represents Ozzy the best.

I love Randy Rhoads. I learned the electric guitar as a teenager because of him. I own the books, I have the records, I even owned a Rhoads V from Jackson Guitars, but at 38 years old, revisiting Ozzy's early stuff it's unquestionably Ultimate Sin that catches my ear the most now. From an "80s" perspective, Blizzard' and Diary' definitely capture his founding sound as a solo artist, but you really hear the songs progress and become representative of the whole era on Ultimate Sin. You also truly appreciate and respect it as an album if you're a guitarist.

Fans have a way of picking out iconic albums because of what they represent to a legacy, I give his two first solo albums their props but as a guitarist Ultimate Sin is his best work, AND the most underappreciated. It's the same way fans will happily tell you Number of the Beast is Iron Maiden's most iconic work, but a guitarist will tell you they LOVE Powerslave purely for the composition and arrangements for their instrument.

In my opinion, Randy's compositions sound more like you're hearing a classical symphony. You can hear his classical influences all throughout his solos and ad-libbed flourishes, you can also hear his other influences that he gladly wears on his sleeves, the weird ambient stuff on Suicide Solution is him channeling Mick Ronson from Bowie's 70s era, one of his favorite guitarists. Rhoads died so young and it's a shame because you'd maybe hear him flaunt those influences less if he developed more had he lived. With Jake E Lee, I hear a guitarist more matured and developed, you don't hear his direct idols or influences as heavily through his playing, and in my opinion his arrangements, fills and bridge pieces are more developed and almost advanced than what Randy Rhoads was doing, who was so young.

Most songs I look up only have guitar chords online. Now, there's a transscribe button at the bottom of the page of ultimate guitar. I however don't know how many notes I have to go up to show the ukulele buttons. Does it even work like hits lmao?

This thing is a goddamned beauty. The G&L CLF Research Doheny V12 in Sunset Coral. It's got MFD humbuckers, PTB controls, made in America with the perfect colour/pickguard/fretboard combination for me. The fit and finish is superb. It's crazy versatile and super comfortable to play. The frets are a dream and it came set up. You can get easily dial in that treble-high jangle surf sound or go down and deep and play those humbuckers for all it's worth. The PTB controls should be standard everywhere, they are that good and useful. This guitar is even cooler because of the three way switches that let you put each pickup in single, parallel, or series mode.

It's basically my ultimate guitar. I am now considering selling the rest of my guitars because this is... perfect. For fans of G&L, Jazzmasters, off-sets, or just probably the best bang for buck guitar on the market, take a look at the CLF Research guitars that G&L is creating. Don't sleep on it.

Are there any websites that catalogue guitar pedals? The closest I've found is effectsdatabase.com but it's extremely clunky and not complete. I would love to see one that lists all known pedals and variations from each manufacturer, with a description and pictures.

I've been trying to investigate all the Devi Ever pedals that are out there, but it's not easy to navigate due to the sheer number of different types. They've been made under the following names that I can find: Devi Ever, Devi Ever FX, Dwarfcraft, and Cymru. Not having any luck using the Wayback machine to check out the websites for Dwarfcraft or deviever.com.

anyone need some official tabs? ultimate guitar got a lot of them

In Chrome, the tempo option doesn't work.

In Firefox, it's not loading the tones correctly for certain tracks. Enabling the Backing Track corrects the tone, but then disables the voice midi.

Is UGP just kind of sketchy?

Has anybody paid for the Ultimate Guitar lessons subscription? Is it worth it? Im a intermediate electric player stuck in a practice rut feeling like Im not advancing skillwise anymore and its making it hard for me to want to play cause i feel like Im going in circles. I dont know what to learn to start getting out of it. The stuff I want to learn is out of my skill range currently too.

Saw that UG’s lessons are $30 for a year subscription atm so figured Id ask your thoughts on it.

This is mostly rage, but his solo work and even Audioslave are included in this too. Does he not want the messages of his work to be shared and spread by other artists who are amateur and small? Is it censorship? I am unsure. Does anyone have a clue?

Hi there! Im wrighting this post as i finnaly gatherd a majority of the ultimate extras from variuos methods of downloading from websites.

It is now possible to install ultimate extras on any version of vista and any version of windows 7. this product has not been tested on windows 32bit yet or newer version of windows.

I went to the website, searched the song i wanted and went to the "guitar pro" things. But whenever i click on it, it sends me to the app and asks me to pay money.

If i delete the app it just sends me to the playstore

It's a million times more readable on a phone screen than the shitty mobile site they have. Also there's no ad for their shitty app that covers 1/3 of the screen and you can see the chord shapes without being asked to download an app. I really hate that abomination of website.

Any musicians out there noticed all of Paul’s solo songs have mysteriously been removed from the website? I’m wondering if it’s anything to do with the new lyric book perhaps? Is anyone else experiencing this or just me? John’s stuff is still up

I love the grateful dead so much and listen almost every day. I have a GD time machine and use it at home. It is an amazing piece of hardware. I really needed a better way to access the Archives on any device. I have used many of the apps out and direct from the archive. I needed a way to search more than just year and venue so my buddy made this great site. It is still coming along as we get new ideas on how to make it better. Time machine has also been added and favorites Let me know what you think. This is just beta. It does take 15 secs to load. Enjoy

But I’m keen to hear your thoughts - would you switch in a Tele, an Telecaster, a Custom Butterscotch Telecaster or something else?
