Did the Turco Mongolic peoples ever farm wheat?

I'm thinking of modern day Mongolian/Kazakh foods such as boortsog, which is basically fried dough, or buuz, which is an obvious adaptation of Chinese bauzi dumplings. Both rely on wheat, so how did these former pastoral nomads get the wheat? Was it all imported, and if so, when did this start happening? Or are they just very recent imports? I can't imagine boortsog being eaten for hundreds of years yet farming starting in what is now Mongolia (seemingly) just last* century.

Poverly & Adler β€” books and curiosities

Nomad specialises in forbidden knowledge. It’s central library is the most famous of its esoteric strongholds, but it is far from the only example. β€˜Poverly & Adler β€” books and curiosities’ is the most recent. It’s a curiosity in itself β€” part bookstore, part (al)chemists, it has already become known for stocking strange wares, even for the city of magic. Mr Poverly takes care of the books, though he is careful never to read them through himself. He recommends that buyers perform rites to protect themselves from madness and spirits. This might just be a clever marketing ploy; however, many customers have claimed to hear the ghostly β€˜Pale Boy’s toll’.

Mr Adler, Poverly’s partner in business and romance, deals in alchemy. He is a hunter, using the parts of supernatural animals to make his potions. He tries not to be wasteful. On the days following a hunt, he sells meat, and later, slightly disturbing taxidermy works.

The potions he sells are a safer bet, though equally unique. Rather than heal or harm, they provide answers to questions. To increase the quality, it’s advisable to bring something of your own relating to the question, whether mundane or abstract. The potions’ answers are easier to understand than what you’ll find in Poverly’s books, but they require you to know exactly what you’re asking for, which is harder than it sounds.

Owners and spirits aside, there are a few other residents and regulars of the shop. Two bizarre nightmares have taken over the attic. They are the manifestation of the guilt of a school bully who stole from lunchboxes. One appears as a sentient banana, the other, a spider-like hand. The banana has started the business. The hand is currently unemployed.

Perhaps the most frequent visitor to the shop is a boy named Aden. Though his pocket money isn’t nearly enough to afford anything there, Poverly lets him borrow a few of his books. Aden has been trying to find the cause of his nightmares of the tall man, and the buzzing noises. He’s yet to find the answer, but he hopes he’ll find it soon. It’s been days since he slept well.

Aden lives close to where Nomad is currently stationed, but Poverly and Adler have already had customers from across worlds. Perhaps the most memorable visit was from β€˜The Eternal Blue Horde’, a clan of Turco-Mongol time-travelling tribes from the fourteenth century. They got on considerably better with Adler than they did Poverly, but the latter cheered up considerably when he saw the size of th

>Can you show us ONE INSTANCE where Shah Jahan called himself a "Hindustani"?

>No, NOT ONCE. In fact, Shah Jahan called himself a "Second Timur". That was his OFFICIAL title

>Shah Jahan looked down upon Hindustanis and had a very low opinion of their physical, mental and martial skills.

>Comparing him to a migrant like Obama who is an American in identity, name, religion, culture etc is a travesty and obfuscation at best >Shah Jahan was a zealous follower of Hanafi sect of Islam that has its base in Central Asia. Obama is a follower of United Church of Christ that is a church denomination originating in the US. Obama speaks fluent English whereas Shah Jahan could hardly speak any Hindi.

>Most important, Shah Jahan was a zealot who demolished hundreds of temples and built Mosques in their stead.

>Obama was chosen by people of America through a democratic process. Shah Jahan was the descendant of an invader who occupied the country through loot, rΞ±pe and pillage. Far from identifying with Indians, Shah Jahan identified himself with the original invader Timur.

Mughal rulers also often claimed Timur's ceremonial title, Sahib Qiran or The Lord of Conjunction as an important dynastic reference. On Jahangir's succession ceremony, his chronogram described him as the second Timur:

King of kings Jahangir, a second Timur

Sat in justice on the victorious throne

Success, fortune, victory, pomp and triumph

Are wrapped around him to serve with joy

This is the date of his accession,

When fortune puts its head at the feet of sahib qiran-i sani

Jahangir himself was also known for his relentless attention to his dynastic lineage and Timurid political and cultural continuities, regularly referring to Transoxiana as his vilayet-i marusi, or hereditary province and mulk-i marusi or ancestral domains. He once also made a pilgrimage to Kabul, Babur's longtime capital, which he described in his memoirs as "our home dominions". There, Jahangir traced Babur's footsteps, visited his favorite gardens, and added his own name and that of their shared ancestor, Timur, to Babur's dynastic inscriptions. Just like his father, Shah Jahan also idolized the Timurid heritage. Shah Jahan called himself the Second Lord of Conjunction (Sahib Qiran-i Thani) and have it permanently inscrib

Just How Much Mongol influence was there in the Kazakh Khanate?

I recently did some research on the Mongol Successor States and came across a concept known as Turco-Mongol Tradition. As far I know, Turco-Mongol Tradition was the blend of the native Turkic population with the laws, traditions, and practices of the Mongol elite, who eventually were assimilated and no longer considered themselves as Mongols but as Kazakhs. Just how much Mongol however remained in the Kazakh Khanate's laws and policies after centuries of assimilation?

The Kazakh Khanate was born out of Abulkhair's Khanate but also traces its roots to the Golden Horde, of which Kerei and Janibek Khan were descended from. Both Khanates are considered as Mongol successor states, but the Kazakh Khanate is not. I know that all of the Khans of Kazakhstan were Chingisids, even Kenesary Khan, and there is a belief in Kazakhstan that Genghis Khan is the father of all Central Asian nationss. I have also heard about a third of all Kazakh tribes (including the largest one: Naiman) were descended from Mongol settlers, but other than what other Mongol influences were there in Kazakhstan and how many of them remained until Kazakhstan's annexation into the Russian Empire?

Old descriptions of Great Tartaria

In recent years there have been many theories and speculations about Tartaria, a toponym frequently found on Western maps of past centuries. This topic has been actively picked up by newagers, trying to materialise the atmospheric electricity of ancient Tartaria. The theme has also been supported by many nationalists, relying on the Aryan root in the word Tart-aria (which can be seen as a bit ironic, as in modern English the word β€œtart” has the meaning β€œsour, irritable, sarcastic” in adjective form and β€œpie, prostitute” in noun form). On β€œTartar Architecture” as a new conspiracy theory was recently written about by Bloomberg. The current position of academic history on the matter is that the word β€œTartaria” meant a territory, a mythical country, but not any state or empire of the past. Perhaps in this matter, in order to get the most accurate idea of the past, it is worth relying not on modern opinions, but on the opinions of the contemporaries of Tartary itself.

It is worth noting that for a long time in the Russian language when translating Western books β€œTartaria” was translated as β€œTataria” and, accordingly, β€œTartars” as β€œTatars”. I suggest reading the description of Tataria from the geographical reference book Thesaurus Geographicus of the English-Dutch cartographer, engraver and publicist Herman Moll, published, as stated, more than 300 years ago:

What if ATLA was Western and Islamic themed?

I had an Idea what if ATLA wasn't Eastern but Western themed

Ok so basically everything is opposite

The Air nomads are Turco-Mongol type people roaming an endless steppe raiding the Water and Fire People.

The Eastern Water Empire or what remains of it is a Desert their Arab-Persian people. Using their waterbending to control the course of rivers and growing crops.

The Western Water Empire almost doesn't exist anymore being overrun by fire people. There sort of Greek-Roman people

The two water kingdoms don't get along

The Fire Tribes are a region of small kingdoms and princedoms constantly at war. They inherent a lot of their culture from the Water kingdom. Classic Europeans

The Earth Tribes are the smallest and have slowly assimilated into Water customs a small minority stick to the old ways more in land.

Now here comes the 2 twists the Air nomads are the villains. Having united their clans they are conquering the whole world from horse back

And second twist this world exists on the other side of the OTL ATLA world.

probably a dumb idea

The Mughal Empire in 1668 A.D

https://preview.redd.it/fdjap60f5ul71.jpg?width=1715&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7dfc61c0f8f7f154dc243f460a9b8b9f268c4b3

The Mughal Empire was a Persianate Turco-Mongol empire which stretched from Tabriz and Azerbaijan in the west to Malacca and Indonesia in the east. The foundations of the empire were first laid after the Timurid Resurgence (1445-1510 A.D) which saw the Gurkani realm take back territories it had lost after the death of its founder: Tamerlane. The first of the Timurid Resurgence was Shah Rukh's final reforms, which limited the Gurkani Princes' power in their respective realms and the reclaimation of the Iranian lands, which had previously been lost to the Ajami Sultanate. After his death during the Ajam War (1446-1453) which saw the collapse of the aforementioned sultanate by a joint invasion from the Timurids and Qara Qoyunlu Confederation, his successor: Ala al-Dawla would build off of Shah Rukh's reforms and consolidate his control over the Princes' territories.

al-Dawla's reign saw further consolidation of the former Gurkani lands, including Baluchistan, and further into Iran after the Qara Qoyunlu-Timurid War. After taking back some of the lost lands in the West, he would focus on retaking the Indian lands in the Punjab that Tamerlane had invaded a century before him. His wars against the waning Delhi Sultanate were a success, but died shortly after his gains. His successor: Nasir, would continue his invasions into India and eventually establish the "Great Empire of Hindustan", or Mughal Empire, in 1516 A.D. Both names would be used for the Empire, "Mughal" being a corrupt form of "Mongol", which comes from the Timurid Dynasty's ties with the Genghisids. Throughout the rest of the 16th century, Nasir and his successors would consolidate their lands in Northern India and subjugate the south by creating the Princedoms of Bahmanis and Kutch. In the 1630's, the Malaccan realms faced Mughal invasion after failure to pay tribute, established in 1618 after a naval incursion to the region. After a swift victory against them, and the Mughal Invasions of Malaysia (1639-1650) the Viceroyalty of Malacca would be created.
