Asteras Tripolis Football Club (Greek: ฮฯฯฮญฯฮฑฯ ฮคฯฮฏฯฮฟฮปฮทฯ) is a Greek football club from the town of Tripoli in Arcadia, Greece. The club was founded in 1931 and since the 2007โ08 season they play in the Greek Super League, the highest professional league in the country.
They made a giant step loop from 3rd Division to 1st division in just 2 years, after getting some money from EPO (Greek Football Association) and new owners, they had their stadium renovated from 100 seats capacity to 7,600 seats.
They are in their peak of their history right now, It is their first time that they managed to get into Group phase into their history and they are doing very good. Being first in the Group C of Europa League with 1 win against Partizan and one tie against Besiktas.
Their era of success started back in 2012 where they finished 3rd in the Greek Superleague securing a place for the 2013โ2014 Europa League. Meanwhile, they reached the first Greek Cup final in their history, losing 1โ3 to Olympiacos after extra time.
From 3rd division soccer half decade ago to the big European Stadiums, their fans are very happy for their progress and I wish them the best for today.
Good luck Asteras Tripolis!

I've been to Greece 7 times and don't understand why people here like Casa Grecque, Arahova Souvlaki, or go to way overpriced restaurants like Petros Taverna & Milos (although never had a bad experience at Milos and consistently amazing). Greek people in Greece laugh at me when I tell them the prices we pay here for authentic delicious Greek food.
I have family members coming to Montreal for 3 weeks and they love Greek food. Where can we go?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
I will try to keep this concise: Earlier this year I tested my grandparents on AncestryDNA and uploaded their results to gedmatch, MyHeritage and FTDNA. Both grandparentsโ ancestries are from Greece, the 1st from Tripoli and the 2nd from Northern Greece.
Regarding the 1st, he scored 2.2% Ashkenazi Jewish on MyHeritage and < 1 % Ashkenazi on FTDNA, with Jewish DNA matches mainly from Poland. I know Tripoli was the home of Jews in the Peloponnese (before 1821), but to my knowledge they were Romanioteโฆ basically, is it likely that this Ashkenazi Jewish reading is accurate, or is it a misreading for Romaniote Jewish? And how would that account for the Ashkenazi DNA matches?
Regarding the 2nd, his mother has ancestry from Kirklareli and Constantinople, where there were large Sephardic communities, and his father from around Thessaloniki, where there was the largest Sephardic community since the 1500s. He scores < 4% Sephardic Jewish and < 2% Mizrahi Jewish on FTDNA only, but also < 4% Irish, which I believe Spanish people score due to Celtic influence in Spain (where the Sephardic Jews originated before coming to Greece). So, is it likely that he really does have Sephardic ancestry despite no other company picking up on it? Also, are there any good resources to research Sephardic ancestry from these regions? Thanks, any advice is appreciated.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Hello, I have found it impossible to find any trace of my great-great-grandmother in the USA (Foteini Lahani(s), nรฉe Stefanopoulou). Iโm hoping you can help me find any trace of her, here is what I know:
Any help is much appreciated!
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies ๐
It really does, I swear!

Greece will be exhausted after the Balkan War so they will only give limited support to Greek rebels. Because of that Greek rebellion will only be strong in Cyprus.
Ottoman government of Mustafa Kemal is competent enough to see the possible Arab revolt and Persian aggresion. Especially after Persians took Khuzestan in 1937. Arab resistance organizations will be cracked down constantly while Azerbaijani government will be contacted as a possible ally against Persians. Weapon smuggling from Eygpt to Syria and Hejaz via Saudis and Yemen will constantly under MEH (Ottoman Secret Organization in Kemalist path) pressure. Ottoman Empire under the OHF will relinquish their claims in Balkans and will try to keep a balance there. Seeing Balkan Pact coming for them government in Bulgaria will send a diplomatic misson to Konstantinniye. New Ottoman Balkan policies preferring diplomatic gains to even a easy war wil lead an agreement. Ottoman Bulgarian Cooperation pact will be signed providing Ottoman Empire a new market for its developing economy and military cooperation against possible enemies. Making Mesopotamia, Kurdistan and Tripolitania their first targets for centralization Empire will use every resource in its hands to accompish this. Making new railways, roads, using armored cars, planes and MEH against dissidents, boolstering garrizons, providing jobs with government owned/backed companies and lastly using force resettelment. But this policies of course will bring unrest with itself.
Persians under Nat Pop gov. are very revanchist and full of Turkish hate. Their first move will be Khuzestan. After a political struggle in Khuzestan between pro Ottoman and pro German cliques and Ottomans busy with a revolt in Basra and supporting Bulgaria against Belgrade pact a chance will show itself for Persia and they will not miss it. After that small islands in the Gulf will one by one going to be occupied by the Persians. Using Shia population in other side of the Gulf and Iraq they will seek to trouble Konstantinniye. Military vise they will probably second strongest military after the Ottomans in the ME. Russian help to train and modernize will be crucial in that but still Ottoman army will be far better considering manpower, equipment, training, command vise.
