Happy Spooktober! Tonight’s episode predicts the end of the world with the Mayan calendar. It’s an okay intro. Now being Moe is always enjoyable in a dark sort of way.
We start the trilogy of shorts tonight with a black hole that threatens to engulf Springfield. Kirk having money for pizza is the greatest.
Our second short is a knockoff of the paranormal activity movies. Maggie is the spawn of a devil, again. That kid is some kind of evil! Shooting Mr. Burns wasn’t enough for her! All I can really say about this episode is CINNAMON!!!
The final short tonight is less scary and more parody with Bart going Bart to the Future to read a comic. Definitely a lot of laughs and enjoyable, but not very scary. Frink always adds his time machine hijinks to the Treehouse of Horror episodes.

I'd be surprised if this doesn't happen, and 3 years is a conservative estimate. I doubt it would be in this year's episode because they probably already had stuff for that in the works by the time Squid Game became a big thing, but next year is possible.
While not as firm of a prediction as the title, I'd also guess the following for which Simpsons characters would take the place of some of the cast:
Strong possibilities:
Gi-Hun - Homer Simpson
Il-Nam - Mr. Burns
the police officer guy - Lenny
the Frontman - Carl
Two options for Flanders - either he takes Sang-Woo's role or he has a more minor role as >!the guy who ends up having his wife killed in the marbles game!<, mostly depending on whether they want to do the irony of that spoiler or not
Slightly less strong possibilities:
Deok-su - Krusty (could also be Fat Tony, but that doesn't feel quite right to me)
Mi-nyeo - Helen Lovejoy
The rest I'm not really sure on (I'll edit if I end up deciding on others; I'm especially blanking on who would be best for Sae-byeok), but >!those dynamics would make sense. I'd also guess that there will be jokes where Mr. Burns really obviously gives away his real role but everyone else is oblivious to it for some reason or another. It could go either way on whether they do the actual games from the Squid Game show (which would allow for more direct parodies of those scenarios) or replace them with other games and parody things in a more general sense.!<
I can't quite put a finger on it. My favorites are from the 2-14 series. After that, I'm just less and less interested, but I do not know why.

Ran into this lovely house in my search for treasures. I wish side stuff like this was a bit more fleshed out and you could eventually catch up to this Bohemian Bathory.
For my money Treehouse V has the best gags, the best use of classic horrifying tales, and the smartest one liners. But this seems like a fun debate to be had, so let's do it!
