A list of puns related to "Travis Mayweather"
I would love to watch an episode where those 2 got together and talked about the delta flyer etc. I'm sure the plot would have to be convoluted and involve either a holodeck or time travel,
Who would win in a race, assuming they each flew the same or comparable ships?
I'm guessing most of you are both orville and trek fans but in case you're not...Travis Mayweather was a character on the show Enterprise who despite getting main billing, barely had any centric episodes and it was clear early on that the show didn't know how to write him or include him in any plotlines, so he just kind of disappeared.
Does anyone else feel like John has suffered this same fate? I really liked the direction they were going with him starting off as this goofy, occasionally unprofessional guy with little ambition and turning him into the Chief of Engineering...but it seems like he just kind of faded into the background in season 2. Still love the show
This one might seem a bit radical but hear me out.
I've been rewatching Enterprise recently and picked up on something I never noticed before, so I thought I'd share it here and see what you guys think.
A few times throughout the show, particularly season 1, an off-hand comment is made about Travis' childhood. This may not seem so strange at first - after all we get similar glimpses into the lives of all the main characters - but I was struck by his comment in S01E04 that he "couldn't call a place home unless it came with a pair of warp nacelles." Strange, right?
I didn't think much more of it at the time but I started to notice comments again and again that suggest Travis may have grown up on a ship. Keep an eye out on your next rewatch of the show. They're a real blink-and-you'll-miss-it thing, only a handful of comments really.
Now we also know that prior to the launch of the NX-01 there was a thriving cargo trade between Earth and its colonies. The establishment of those colonies wouldn't have just opened up a few opportunities for trade and shipping, it would have been a monumental shift in human culture and economy. Suddenly humans exist scattered on many worlds. We're not limited to Earth's resources. There are asteroids to be mined, resources to be distributed to brand new settlements, exotic foods and animals to be bought and sold, a whole new vista opens up. This newfound prosperity, together with all that open space, naturally leads to a population boom on these colonies and cargo ships. There's a new generation who may have never set foot on Earth. This was a recurring theme in some of Asimov's works, this idea of 'spacers', the first off-world generation and how they may differ culturally from Earthmen.
I believe Travis was part of this population boom amongst these spacers. A 'space boomer', if you will. If true this adds an interesting dimension to the character, and I feel this unique backstory should really have been made more obvious on the show. It's such a shame the writers hardly ever mentioned it.
I've honestly never seen a modern Trek show abandon one of its main cast in the way ENT has pretty much jettisoned Travis as a character by this point. Sure, Kes is literally jettisoned in Voyager after three seasons and neither Kim nor Chakotay were ever really developed as characters, but they still consistently had scenes and little moments devoted to them in most episodes. Reed and even the (criminally underused) Hoshi still get way more actual scenes than him. Travis literally says "yes captain" and steers the ship most episodes -- if he's lucky.
So was pretty surprised he actually got an episode at all this season (Horizon). Honestly, I wonder if Anthony Montgomery's acting is part of why he's so rarely given anything. I've heard Montgomery is pretty good in some other stuff he's done, but he comes across like an afterschool special actor in the episode in question. It's just so strange seeing him in all the promotional material (he's often the shole person shown on the Netflix thumbnail for Enterprise) when he's basically a glorified extra most of the time.
The space freighter he gree up on gets up to high impulse speed to compensate for its really bad warp drive. Consequently, he spent a large portion of his life travelling at a high percentage of the speed of light, and experienced heavy relativistic time dilation. Even though he looks like he's in his late 20s, he was born at least 50 years before the start of the show, and that's why everyone calls him a "Boomer"
Wouldnβt the Earth Cargo Association want the next most qualified person to take over the ship?
Early on in the show, the writers tried to define Travis' character as a "boomer" or whatever. Then they sort of forgot or didn't care and Mayweather ended up, in my opinion, not mattering at all on Enterprise.
You could have taken away Mayweather from the Enterprise cast and the show wouldn't have changed all that much.
So what happened with Mayweather? Why was he such a nothing character? Was there plans for him that I'm not aware of?
Any thoughts? Has anyone else addressed this?

The book, Chicago Mobs of the Twenties, was left behind in 2168. Travis was serving on the Enterprise at least until 2161. So it was some years after the end of ENT that this took place.
When Jeffery first dropped I downloaded it asap and really liked Floyd Mayweather which initially did not have Travis Scott's feature on it. After clearing up my library, I tried redownloading the track but I'm not digging the version with Travis on it, anyone have a link?
Is it a valuable historical artefact, or an outdated hunk of junk?
Looking for a kind soul to edit out Gucci and Gunna so only travis and thugga are left.
Found thanks to lxns - Link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7qlHza-qcc
Sometimes his contributions to the Enterprise crew go forgotten, but he was an extremely capable character. His having already lived most of his life in space helped on many occasions, when the crew fell short.
I'm rewatching the series, and wanted to give Travis some notice.
Edit: repost due to late night spelling error.
it just hurts sometimes
Supposedly leaking in a few weeks, is the version that Lyor played on snapchat with only Travis as a feature.
Remind yourself for next week.

I just think Travis sounds way too different than everyone else on the track, and it also wasn't that great of a verse. The auto tune wasn't a good choice imo. Thoughts?
If anyone has the link to the new version of Floyd Mayweather please pm me fam
