Slowly i read and translate

I've been a huge fan of Dazai ever since i've seen aoi bungaku anime and then reading through every russian translation i could find (sadly there isn't much). When my english became fluent enough to read english translations too, i was already aspiring to read in japanese. To this day i'm not fluent enough to actually read with even tenth a normal speed, but on and off i return to the project of reading and translating all of Dazai into russian & english. So far there is only one finished piece, 待぀ in russian (i'm really hoping to put up an english version of it soon as well). In my translations i'm aiming to be as close to original as possible, but another reason to translate pieces already translated is that unlike originals freely available as public domain works, most existing translations are subject to copyright (which i consider stupid bad concept). My work is available completely free at https://caryoscelus.github.io/libre-dazai/ (CC-BY-SA license allows copying/reusing/adapting in any way as long as you keep same license on derivative work and mention original authors)

I realize there's little chance there are more russian speaking Dazai fans, but there is an off chance there are and if there is any interest in libre translations in general that might motivate me to do more faster ^_^

Slowly coming to terms realizing my job in the AF didn't translate to anything that's available in the civilian sector...

I was 1P0X1 in the Air Force which was a parachute rigger and survival equipment technician for F-16s. I've been out for well over a year due to medical retirement and despite searching religiously on indeed and USAJobs, my job series has only come up as a very competitive field in very remote locations in the country that more older and seasoned technicians obtain (understandably). My issue is that even airline sectors aren't even hiring my line of work.

I feel like I've wasted an entire contract and went through the shit I did for something I can't even do on the outside. I hear this is something a lot of infantry roles in other branches feel or very specific MOS/AFSCs but damn do I feel near useless and lost. Air Force COOL wouldn't have done me any good at all and I don't know if it's just the nature of the beast or this job not being as needed outside as inside.

I want to work federally but believe I just need a new set of skills at this point without going back to the service to learn. What are some pieces of advice y'all have from experience or knowledge?

With CA slowly running out of rulebooks to translate into the TW:WH games, what are your ideas for future faction DLCs?

I'll start:
Colonial Dwarfs.
The idea behind the faction is: what if all the Dwarfs who were too forward-thinking to fit into the orthodoxically conservative and tradtionalist Dwarven societies emigrated to the New World and founded colonies there?

Their armies would feature less elite heavy infantry, but employ a whole bunch of inventions deemed too outrageous and radically progressive for Dwarfs of the old world.
I'm thinking spider-y logging machines like those, giant drills that could emerge from under the surface like Tomb Scorpions, self-propelled carts loaded up with riflemen, rocket artillery and even gatling guns.
They would also make heavy use of pistols fielding a sort of beefed-up Free Company Militia and their lords would have whole braces of them, allowing them to fire lethal volleys at close range.
They'd also have commando troops specialized in fighting in jungles, maybe even making use of poison.
Their runecraft would also evolve into its own branch resembling magic moreso than the Old World runelords intended.
Their economy would revolve around trade of exotic goods with the Old World factions and there could be mechanics that emphasize its importance.
Maybe you could get missions were in exchange for fulfilling certain trade contracts, you would be rewarded with elite Old World units which are unavaliable to you otherwise like Ironbreakers or Hammerers.

I'm looking forward to your ideas and comments.

[Manga Spoilers] Chapter 102: It Slowly Extended (Google Translate)

Over at r/ShingekiNoTranslation we send all of SnK through Google Translate hell. We send the text through English -> Greek -> Russian -> Spanish -> Maltese -> French -> Filipino -> German -> Japanese -> Arabic -> Hebrew -> Hmong -> English. Head on over there if you want to help out, or just read one of the many other chapters we've produced.

There's been a lot of hype with chapter 103 coming out soon, so first let's do a quick reread of chapter 102, Google translated of course. Here's Chapter 102: It Slowly Extended

SLOWLY Team responds to inquiries regarding Hello Kitty stamps, Translator stamps, Golden Pencil stamp award, Word Counter feature, and submission of Slowly Stories

There are three stamps that are now considered, more or less, extinct. They were already considered rare back then and it doesn't help that some who own them have now left the app. These stamps are the Hello Kitty stamps, Translator stamps, and the Golden Pencil stamp award. Now, it's a wonder if they will be re-issued in the near future.

Next is the Word Counter feature, avid letter writers have been asking for this one for over a year now. A lovely feature that is only available for now on the unofficial Slowly web client. It gives you an idea of how long is the letter you're writing inside the application. Therefore, saving you the hassle of using a third-party app or site and letting you know immediately if the length is necessary. It could be too long or too short. Both could be disrespectful, depending on your penpal.

Lastly is the submission of Slowly stories. They haven't been accepting submissions via their website for a few months now. Again, it's another question when they will re-open.

So, I asked the SLOWLY Team about all of this a couple of days ago. Here's Jane's answer because it just won't upload and I have no idea why ;-;.

SHORT SUMMARY:

  • No, the Hello Kitty stamps will not be re-issued (due to license restriction).
  • Translator stamps are still available for those volunteers who help translating the app interface.
  • There is a possibility of the Golden Pencil award stamp being reissued, however, there are currently no plans to do so.
  • GOOD NEWS: The Word Counter feature will be available in the coming version.
  • Due to a large number of pending submissions, they will temporarily stop accepting new story via their website. However, if you have already written your story, you may send it toΒ story@getslowly.com. The review process might take 2-3 months.
  • Support the SLOWLY Team by buying them a coffee.

That's it, folks.

Books slowly translating in another language?

First time posting on this account, be gentle. If I chose the wrong subreddit, please link me a better.
Hello book-enthusiasts, I hope you can help me.
I recently thought about an cool idea about a book which slowly translates its original language into another, step by step. The reader would be then forced to remember certain words and structures. It doesnt necessarily needs to be another language, maybe some cryptics would be cool. The idea is focused on pattern-understanding in a language. My question to you, are there any existing books based on such an idea?
Thank you all in advance.
Edit: I may have misexpressed my thought of an idea as writing it myself. Personally, I dont even think I would make up such a good writer. I was just asking for an existence of such kind of book style. But I thank you for the encouragement. :D Sorry u/SorrellD and u/mydinosaurdidit
