A list of puns related to "Tom Alan Robbins"
I know none of you care about awards ceremonies which is fair enough, so before reading this, take this more as a โPerfomance>Perfomanceโ less as a โthis award was corruption riddledโ
An all time classic will be Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump, a man with a low IQ trying to find his lost love. Now before I start, this isnโt discrediting his perfomance. Tom Hanks was truly the perfect character for Forrest, but one thing that never gets mentioned in a higher regard is Tim Robbinsโs picture perfect perfomance in The Shawshank Redemption.
This was a truly mesmerizing perfomance, and really cemented the talent Tim had. In Shawshank, Tim Robbins truly created a new character. It was void of the typical character who goes to jail does then gets back to his family a changed man. Thatโs not what The Shawshank Redemption is about from Tim. He portrays a character that breaks conventions and creates a new sort of character. A character that show true passion to a hostile state of living, espically given his circumstances. Each scene Tim Robbins was in he did everything pinpoint, and made his character sound the way he needed to be. Not a person crying for freedom, but a person who knows what the rules are, and what his circumstances have boiled down to. An evolving character, you watch as Andy Dufresne grows and becomes what he was meant to be: a person who grows to escape the conventions a prisoner has to live with.
While Hankโs perfomance is magnificent and does represent a character of change, he just canโt create a character like Robbinโs did.
This post will most likely be negatively recieved, but thatโs ok, because in reality, the two shouldโve been given a joint oscar for there performances. It just goes to show how powerful 1994 was for film.
Thanks for reading and please leave your thoughts down below. Have a good day.
Seems to meet many of the criteria/characteristics, but on Wikipedia just listed as postmodernist (sure) and fictional prose (lol, duh). a few publications suggest he is Magical Realism (e.g. Steffens 1999; Byrnes 2015) but Robbins is not usually included on most lists of Magical Realists.

I've read everything he's written. I've read most of Vonnegut and Christophe Moore, I feel like they get compared a lot although I still like Tom way way more. Jitterbug perfume is my personal fav. Send me some books!
Tom and the Anderson brothers wrote about Alan and Alan wrote about Jesse and the fbc. And they all wrote about these things without knowing about each other and from my understanding they canโt create new things from cauldron lake. Can anyone explain this to me?
After a full year of painfully editing and digitizing my 82 page senior honors thesis and with the help of the Dartmouth Digital Commons playing host, I am happy to announce this most scintillating tome is now available to read for posterity - - Tom Robbins โ A Playful Prophet. This IS the Tom Robbins reddit group so perhaps some of you might want to have a read...
I am instantly inspired to make an entire journal based on this anesthetic. Thank you for sharing!
How can one person be more real than any other?
Well, some people do hide and others seek. Maybe those who are in hiding-- escaping encounters, avoiding surprises, protecting their property, ignoring their fantasies, restricting their feelings, sitting out the Pan pipe hootchy-kootch of experience--maybe those people, people who won't talk to rednecks, or if they're rednecks won't talk to intellectuals, people who're afraid to get their shoes muddy or their noses wet, afraid to eat what they crave, afraid to drink Mexican water, afraid to bet a long shot to win, afraid to hitchhike, jaywalk, honky-tonk, cogitate, osculate, levitate, rock it, bop it, sock it, or bark at the moon, maybe such people are simply inauthentic, and maybe the jackleg humanist who says differently is due to have his tongue fried on the hot slabs of Liar's Hell.
Some folks hide, and some folks seek, and seeking, when it's mindless, neurotic, desperate, or pusillanimous can be a form of hiding. But there are folks who want to know and aren't afraid to look and won't turn tail should they find it-- and if they never do, they'll have a good time anyway because nothing, neither the terrible truth nor the absence of it, is going to cheat them out of one honest breath of earth's sweet gas.
I'm looking for that gloriously optimistic and wacky essence o' Robbins in musical form
I know lots of these artists arenโt anything like the other, so sorry about that
Iโm looking for something close to Tom Robbins or Christopher Moore, Iโve tried Carl Hiaasen but I donโt really care for him. I also love popular science writing like Mary Roach and James Nestor. Help!
can anybody recommend me a tom robbins book while also convincing me that iโll enjoy it? i love weird, but i also am afraid of not following whatโs going on
