A list of puns related to "Timurid Renaissance"
just started a game as Timmy and am about 4 years out from integrating my vassals, the Renaissance has just spawned. I know usually, outside of Europe one should dev it but with the Timurids I have basically no good deving provinces AFAIK and Iβm relatively close to Europe, furthermore it might not be worth being behind tech for a little bit but Iβm not really sure, what is the typically advice?
Thank you very much in advance!
The Timurid Empire based in Central Asia ruled by the Timurid dynasty saw a tremendous increase in the fields of arts and sciences, spreading across both eastern and western world.[163]
Remarkable was the invention of Tamerlane Chess, reconstruction of the city of Samarkand, and substantial contributions made by the family of Sultan Shah Rukh, which include Gawhar Shad, polymath Ulugh Begh, and Sultan Husayn Bayqara in the fields of astronomy, mathematics, and architecture. The empire receive widespread support from multiple Islamic scholars and scientists. A number of Islamic learning centres and mosques were built, most notably the Ulugh Beg Observatory.
The prosperity of the city of Herat is said to have competed with those of Florence, the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance as the center of a cultural rebirth.[164][165]
The aspects of the Timurid Renaissance were later brought in Mughal India by the Mughal Emperors[166][167][168] and served as a heritage of states of the other remaining Islamic Gunpowder empires: the Ottoman Turkey and the Safavid Iran.[[169]](https://en.

However, from the 14th to 16th century the cities of Bukhara, Samarkand, and Herat became centers of knowledge and beauty. Timur and his successors continued the Mongol practice of importing and using the conquered Persian artisans to great effect. While the destruction of the Timurid, and previously Mongol, conquests should never be downplayed, despite all odds this period saw a very fertile flowering of Persian culture.
It is said by many that Islamic painting reached its apogee during this time with several illuminated manuscripts bearing testament. Miniature painting developed its own schools producing unique and high quality works throughout.
Ceramics were highly developed as well as rug making and tile painting.
Several sculptors are considered the equal of Donatello, Raphael, or any other Italian.
Architecture resulted in buildings such as the Great Mosque of Herat, the Bibi-Khaynim, Gawhar Shaud, and many other beautiful buildings.
Several observatories were erected and many astronomical advances were made and they worked out that the earth moves, although they did miss a heliocentric universe, however they were close to getting the speed of the earth's movement through space correct.
This period has every right to be considered a "renaissance" as Persian culture and learning finally had a firm setting again after the ravages of the Mongols. It influenced the Ottoman, Safavid, and Mughal empires extensively, setting forth the general form that all of these empires and cultures would emulate for centuries.

Ave artists and smiths, I'm looking for a design for a rapier or similarly crafted weapon, whose main use would be to be worn with pride, while not looking too modern, since the setting is pretty medieval (pre-renaissance).
The weapon is to be forged in Thesk, equivalent to Persian/Cosmopolitan countries of the silk road like Samarkand if you need a lead for the style; but it's not a requirement.
I don't have a name for the weapon, feel free to give it yourself based on your design.
The once-mighty empire of the Timurids had declined significantly in the past century, devolving into a series of petty squabbling kingdoms. Some tried to reclaim their old territory whereas others tried to stake new claims in the Indian Subcontinent. However, one lord who had been resistant to the Iranians in the past was Husayn Bayqara, Lord of Herat. He was the most powerful of the Timurid rulers remaining in Iran, and his works spurred a second Timurid Renaissance. His realm was powerful and stable, and extended from Gorgan to Balkh. However, Husaynβs realm had torn itself apart upon his death in a bloody succession crisis, and its remains had been conquered by the Uzbeks led by Muhammad Shaybani Khan. The great horde now threatened to swallow the entirety of Central Asia, something that Ismail could not abide.
The new legitimate prince of the region was supposed to be Badi' al-Zaman Mirza. However, his capital of Herat had been overrun by the Uzbeks in 1507. The prince had sought refuge in the Iranian Empire, and had been attempting to convince Ismail to stage an invasion of Uzbek territory with his more advanced military and superior numbers. After securing Mesopotamia and signing a truce with the Ottomans in Anatolia, the Young Lion Ismail was now free to march eastwards.
Ismail sees fit to bring with him horse-drawn artillery, as well as analogues to some of the war carts which the Ottomans had deployed so effectively against his own soldiers in the Armenian War. He hires mercenaries equipped with firearms, and a sizeable contingent of camelry, and goes forth to conquer the unknown, hoping to push the Shaybanids back into the steppe once and for all and win the loyalty of the Persianate lords there seeking to cast off Nomadic domination.
Ismailβs eyes were set on Herat, though there are other prizes to be gained. The Fergana Valley is the springboard for trading directly with China. If Ismail was able to capture that, it would bring unimaginable wealth and prestige to Iran. And with each victory over the Sunni Khan, Ismailβs prestige would grow, perhaps turning more and more people to the Shiβa faith...
[OOC: Paying 200K to fund a march northeastwards against the Shaybanid Empire. This is a historical conquest undertaken by Ismail, who pushed the Uzbeks back across the Oxus River and conquered all former Timurid territory which they held. However, if possible, I would like to invest extra resources and attempt to conquer all the way to the F

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

ITTL the Hohenstaufen dynasty of the HRE enjoyed the same degree of luck and success as the other best-performing royal families that developed their European states into strong, centralized monarchies. It got at least 200-300 years of reasonably long-lived, competent, healthy, lucky, and talented rulers, with no premature deaths, serious dynastic crises, lengthy and disruptive civil wars or interregna, or clearly unfit successors. This enabled the HRE to consolidate Germany and Italy into a multinational state using neo-Roman universalism, Latin, and Imperial civic identity as unifying elements. The Hohenstaufen Emperors merged the Kingdom of Sicily in the HRE and crushed the opposition of German princes, Italian municipalities, and the Popes to their rule. In due time, they leveraged their domestic success to expand the borders of the empire and absorb Poland, Hungary, and North Africa too.
The family success story began with Frederick I Barbarossa. In addition to all his OTL achievements, he was able to deal a decisive defeat on rebellious Italian cities and German princes including his treacherous cousin Henry the Lion, bringing the former into line and seizing most possessions of the latter. He fought off the Popes to a favorable draw. He died a few years after leading the Third Crusade to a successful conclusion, which allowed recovering Jerusalem and conquering Aleppo and Damascus. The rich booty he brought back from the crusade enabled his son to assert his rights on the Kingdom of Sicily which he got by marriage. He started his familyβs policy of using Roman legal tradition as a tool to centralize the HRE and legitimize the Emperorsβ rule, and building up the lower nobility, the βministerialesβ class, pro-Imperial burghers, and secular bureaucrats as a power base to counterbalance and overpower unruly princes and cities, and hostile Popes.
His son Henry VI lived to a ripe old age like his father and considerably advanced the work of centralizing Germany and Italy. He crushed the attempts of rebellious princes to defy his rule and mostly added their possessions to the Imperial demesne. This included the Welf, which he effectively wiped out, and the Dukes of Bohemia whose aspirations to royal dignity he suppressed. He dealt new decisive defeats to rebellious Italian city-states, consolidating Imperial power across northern and central Italy. He also successfully established the hold of his family on the Kingdom of Sicily, which he got from his wif
