The good news is I can find everything but the Denizen in the Virginia ABC stores and the Denizen I can find in DC next time I'm downtown. And if my quick math is correct I can get all seven bottles of rum for ~$200! Coming from the world of bourbon, this is amazing. And I don't even need to line up at 5am to get some rare release - it's all readily available!
Also, I know there are two more categories after this but I'm going to start slow and not get into Rhum Agricole for now.
My BiL has a weird allergic reaction to rum but loves tequila. I want him to be able to enjoy Tiki night without issue. Has anyone explored any tequila based tiki drinks or substituted rum for tequila in recipes?
EDIT: skip substituting. What are some good tequila/ mezcal based tiki recipes?
I'll be competing in an amateur cocktail competition in a few weeks, and I've chosen (I'm not obligated) to offer an NA drink for my wildcard round. I'm hoping you guys can give me some inspiration. Since the wildcard round can be anything, the drink will be going head-to-head with some upscale boozy craft drinks.
I'm looking to offer something sophisticated and Tiki-style, preferably easy to batch. The coconut cups I want to serve in are pretty voluminous (17oz), so something either blended or over crushed ice would be good.

I’m allergic to pineapple so I’ve always avoided summer or tiki drinks. So I’m a COMPLETE newby in the rum world. Pretty well versed in cocktails, gin, and American whiskey.
But I’m looking to branch out this weekend/summer. I’ve got Flor de Cana 4 year as a pretty good inexpensive white rum options.
Going out this weekend to fine an aged or spiced rum to try. Likely for sipping, milk punches, or funky daiquiris. Nothing tropical or tiki with pineapple.
Recommendations? Suggestions?

My friend knows I'm into cocktails and has asked me to build/suggest a cocktail for his Wedding. It's a moderately high amount of people for a wedding (100 expected). They will cover costs & batching. I would love some ideas for a good Tiki drink that could a)be relatively easy to source ingredients for b)straightforward to batch c)appeal to a lot of taste preferences. I know the bride does not like Tequila & Mezcal. I was thinking a Dark & Stormy might be a good fit but would love to hear other thoughts/considerations.
Okay I know this may be dumb, but does anyone have any somewhat healthy tiki drink recipes? We’re on a health kick in my house and I’m trying to find something that isn’t like 500 cals and 50g of sugar per drink. Or maybe I just need to save them for special treats...
I will be going to a bachelor party at the beach in a few months and wanted to take a spouted cooler full of a tiki cocktail with us onto the beach.
In my opinion pineapple juice, orange juice, and grapefruit juice are all acceptable from a can or bottle, but lemon and lime juice are not. Dont really like the idea of bringing a bunch of limes and lemons with me and juicing them the morning of so I wanted to see if there are any drinks I’m overlooking besides the aforementioned painkiller and a blue hawaiian that won’t require lemon or lime.
Hi all, I tried searching around for similar recipes online but came up with nothing, so I'm hoping someone here will have made a similar drink in the past and can provide guidance.
The drink is called the "temple of doom" and made at Hidden Harbor in Pittsburgh. Its really delicious, a nice mix of smoke and spice upfront followed by refreshing and cool. I tried asking the bartender but they wouldn't give out the recipe, and COVID-19 restrictions prevent anyone from sitting at the bar so its difficult to try to peep what they put into it.
The description of the drink is as follows:
Creamy coconut cools a mix of citrus, sumac, and morita pepper. Made with mezcal and rum.

What do you folks think are the tastiest tiki drinks ? I understand that taste is subjective but I recently made a zombie from the smugglers cove book I wasn’t that impressed with the flavor.
I love the taste of a good mai tai or a volcano bowl.
So my question is what if your tastiest tiki drink you make on the regular.

Hi I'm searching for Rum for Tiki drinks in Germany, I usually mix drinks with quiet bold flavors and a lot of drinks from Smugglers Cove so nothing too delicate. I would prefer something budget but still nice around the 14 Euro mark would be best
After a few years of fun weekend drinks (and bonus body weight), my wife has joined weight watchers. She’s been doing a great job, and wants to have a tiki drink this Memorial Day weekend.
Are there any decent ‘low point’ recipes available?
‘Kraken The Dole Whip’ has 21 points the way she makes it, so that’s not great seeing as she gets 23 points a day. Lol.
