A list of puns related to "Tier 4 Christmas"
Because I am.
Christmas was never a huge thing for my family growing up, though maybe I regret that now. But since I'm not "doing" it this year I thought to make Xmas meals for those left isolated by the new Tier 4 restrictions.
If you know anyone, or are yourself spending Christmas alone, please message me and I will deliver a full CHILLED meal on the 24th for free. This service is intended for any individuals, the elderly, single parents, students unable to go home, shielding etc. in zones 1-3.
I started a small food delivery service from home this year. The menu I'll be doing is based off that.
Choice of pie, all sides and dessert included: Pies β’ Beef & Veg β’ Mushroom & Red Wine (v) β’ Celeriac & Carrot (ve)
Sides β’ Cauliflower Cheese (v) β’ Mash (v) or Crushed Potatoes (ve) β’ Brussels Sprouts with Bacon (ve option available)
Dessert β’ Apple and Prune Crumble with Custard (v)
Dietary needs catered for except gluten free.
Many thanks for reading. Take care, Mhairi
EDIT:
I'm overwhelmed by this response! Hey London! There is no way I can reply to each person individually (I'm not joking when I say that I'm overwhelmed) but it seems we've created a lovely bubble of togetherness here, so, yay to that and let's be kind to one another.
I do have a request: anyone with a car and willing to carry out deliveries in Stratford/Whitechapel/New Cross/Peckham please let yourself be KNOWN! It would be a huge help.
Cheers everyone. London can be a lonely place, I know this deeply, but we're here for each other. Thank you for reading.
As a former Conservative voter, I am utterly enraged that The UK Government has imposed further draconian restrictions on the South East of England and London. These measures are so extreme that they have banned households meeting at Christmas for millions of people; A total betrayal of the narrative The Government has repeated endlessly this year: Sacrifices made in October, November and December will allow a normal Christmas period.
It has done so without Parliamentary oversight, further setting a precedent towards authoritarianism and disregard for normal Democratic processes. When the Emergency Powers were renewed earlier this year, it was on the condition that no new Lockdowns would be imposed without the assent of Parliament. So instead, The Government has waited for Parliament to be in recess and used the grounds of a new health emergency to impose "Tier 4", which is a new lockdown in all but name.
Whilst this is a further blow, amongst so many this year, to those who value civil liberties and a free society, it is also a significant escalation towards punishing those who do not support lockdown ideology.
Somehow, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, there are a still a majority of the public for whom no restrictions are sufficient and who demand further sacrifices to "fight the virus". In order to support this new ban on Christmas, you must accept all of the following to be true:
If any of the above were held to be untrue, the case for these new measures would fall apart because they would be disproportionate to the risk, ineffective at mimizing the spread, outweighed by the negatives, ignored by the public or legally / morally unacceptable in a democratic country.
I believe ther

In June, I lived with my mum and brother, and formed a support bubble with my boyfriend who lived alone (so 2 households of 3 and 1). In August, I moved in with him, so as I see it, we're 2 households of 2, but my family keep saying we still count as a bubble. We're all London based, so currently in Tier 4.
To make things more complicated, my grandmother passed away in October, and for the past 60 years my mum would spend Christmas with her. Mum has depression and without the right support, she spirals further into it and has a hard time getting out, and there are already warning signs that she's having another depressive episode. My brother who still lives with her has his own mental health issues, and frankly lacks the empathy to support her.
I'm torn as I understand how serious the covid situation is and don't want to break the rules or put people at risk, but I'm really worried about her mental health.
