I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

There was a soft beeping as I came around, I knew I was in a bed, and in the back of my head the other me spoke;

We almost won that fight.

I let out a groan, my face hurt so much right now, as did my chest, when I try to open my eyes I can’t see out of my right eye! I bring a hand up to touch it and I can feel a bandage around that side of my head and I let out a breath, maybe I’m not blind in one eye then. I sit up in the bed and start to look around, I can see that the lights are down low and I see sleeping in a chair is Tico, using her coat as both blanket and pillow. She really didn’t need to stay here… speaking of here, where am I?

We told her to take us to the Citadel.

I let out a sigh as I say in a low voice, “Better here than home I guess, mama is going to lose her stuffing when she hears what I did.”

We did nothing wrong, the target was flying no colors and were close to a secure military base.

“We did plenty wrong, we didn’t identify ourselves and we didn’t warn them off.” I say, perhaps a bit too loud as Tico started to stir.

I held my breath while she settled back into sleep and I sighed and leaned back against my pillow and looked out the window, and the other me continued at me;

You worry too much. We flew no flags, showed no numbers or names.

I shake my head as I whisper out, “We flew the black flag.”

So?

I was about to answer when I heard fast and forceful clicking of heels coming towards the room, I turn slightly to see the door fly open and my mother’s southern drawl came out, “Rebecca Ann Samantha Bellamy, in the name of all that is holy, tell me ya didn’t do what I think you did!?!”

We’re fucked.

I blink a couple of times, kind of surprised that the other me understands the level of trouble we’re in. It honestly took me a second before I bring a finger to my lips and gesture to a sleeping Tico. My mother for her part pressed her lips together and her nostrils flared, I knew she was mad.
