A list of puns related to "Thurston County, Washington"
I've got family that live outside of Yelm, Washington, and they are curious about getting Starlink to replace horrific DSL service (barely 1 Mbps down). I live in Central California and plan to travel up there soon.
When I'm there, I'm planning to evaluate the suitability with the "Check for Obstructions" feature of the Starlink app. When I try it out at my house, I see sky when I point my phone up to the north, and a parabola of darkness descends when I turn east or west and ultimately is total blackness to the south. I was expecting a little more feedback than that from the app, some sort of "thumbs up" (or down) as to whether I'm in a location that would work. Does the app provide any more feedback than that, or is that it?
I read a recent pcmag.com article that shows pretty good coverage in southern Washington state. Given the proximity to many other Starlink users, part of me thinks to just jump the gun and order the equipment without waiting to check suitability. Thoughts? There aren't any trees within fifty feet of the house.
Thanks.
I linked this Thurston County site in an earlier thread. Just a minute ago a friend pointed out to me that the County was down a brine machine and that is why they are not responding the same this year as in the past. I had no idea and had not heard this. Turns out a tidbit is buried in the page:
> The County is in the process of ordering a new brine machine, which makes the anti-icing solution to pre-treat roads, and anticipate delivery in January 2022. While it is on order, Public Works will not be pre-treating county roads with anti-icing solution.
So the Thurston County response appears to have had to deal with roads that got icier quicker due to a lack of pre-treating. Just a heads up as to why the snow response might not have been quite as effective this year.
I got tested on Wednesday morning and they told me results would be 3 to 5 days. Still have not heard anything and am concerned I'm not going to hear anything tomorrow due to the holiday.
Hi everyone, I've lived in Olympia since 2014 after moving here from the Midwest and have just now entered the wide world of fishing in this great state! I'm very excited for the upcoming spring but was hoping to try my hand at some winter fishing. Problem is, I lack some of the necessary things to really get out there (i.e. a boat or kayak). I'm hoping some of you have some basic recommendations or advice on what lakes are best for bank/shore fishing. I'm not looking for your secret spots or anything, just something so I can get out there and log some casts before hitting the ground running next year. Deep Lake at Millersylvania seems like it could have some decent ground to offer and I won't run the risk of accidentally walking onto someone's property. Thanks for your help!
In the last few weeks there have been "volunteers" of a grassroots Republican party organization harassing Thurston County residents under the guise of being employees of Thurston County.
They are wearing lanyards with tags that say THURSTON COUNTY (and other information) in large print and have printed paperwork with accurate legal names pulled from public data websites.
Their organization is named "Thurston County Voter Research Project" which yeilds official government websites when searched without quotations.
They are not employed by the County. This is related to attempted recounts of votes in the Presidential election.
You do not have any obligation to answer questions asked about your 2020 ballot or who lives in your home.
The Thurston County auditor's office is aware of this but nothing public is being said at this point.
EDIT : Someone Is paying attention to this subreddit. At 1:30pn today the Thurston County auditor's office has finally made a public statement saying most of what you see above. They have known about this since October 30th.
Edit to add: They're interested in questioning residences that had a Republican registered to that address in recent years. You're unlikely to be bothered if your address' registered voters are Dems going back a few years. IMO apartment complex residents are most likely to be targeted given the nature of lease lengths.
