A list of puns related to "Theodosian"
Hey folks and sorry if this has been answered here but I didnβt find it. Iβm visiting and Iβm interested in Byzantine history, and I want to see the Theodosian walls. Unfortunately they cover a lot of area and I donβt see much guidance on which parts or part is must see. Could anyone kindly shed any light and give a rec for where to go?
The Theodosian walls were possibly the strongest walls during the last days of Byzantium and were feared by its enemies as making Constantinople a capital hard to battle against. They should be a monument that players can build as it feels like it was missed out.
Was doing a Byzantium to Rome run since I rarely played as them in CK2 Iβve got all of cairo and Thrace under my direct domain, Iβm working on Latium but wanted it all for my self as well Iβve got enough domain to do it but I wanted to assemble duchy titles in an efficient way for the ducal buildings.
Do we have an idea of how much money it would cost for the Romans to build those defenses? was it like a Manhattan project or Apollo program level of investment in the sense that it represented a big chunk of their gdp? Complementing this question, how was the roman budget looking on those years? do we have ways of comparing the level of money/resources the Romans had access at that time compared to maybe the height of the empire?

Rome had the disadvantage of not being a port, so could not be securely resupplied by sea during a seige. But how strong and effective were its walls compared to the famous ones of Constantinople?
A crackfic for the APGTE discord. No knowledge of PMMM required, other than that people become Magical Girls by making wishes.
Kairos Theodosion lounged on a throne of gold, alone in his tent. There were no magical gargoyles or mad Bellerophons by his side, an unfortunate yet necessary predicament. Bored, he siped at a fizzy orange drink, liquid splashing onto his shirt as his hand shook. βWho made this?β he asked no one, as the amount of people in the room had not changed. βWhoever it is, donβt kill their family.β
He paused. βOr maybe I should kill their family, to motivate them to create something better? They say that the best art is made when depressed, after all. Oh, itβs such a conundrum!β
He frowned, and checked the enchanted bracelet he had serving as a watch. βAnd where is my guest? He should be here any minute.β
βHello there, Kairos Theodosian,β a voice spoke into the Tyrantβs head. βMy apologies for the delay, but I had other matters to attend to.β
A furry white creature emerged from the shadows, tail swishing as its pink eyes stared at Kairos.
βHi there, Kyubey,β the boy said. βOr would you prefer if I called you Incubator?β
βI have no preference one way or the other,β Kyubey replied.
Kairos pouted. βAww, youβre no fun. Alright then, Inkyubey, what do you say we get down to business?β
βThere is no business to get down to. You have nothing to offer me, and I have nothing to offer you.β
Kairos smiled, grinning wildly as his eye flashed red. βOh, but I think you do. Whatβs your job again?β
βI seek to reduce the universeβs entropy via encouraging-β
βNo, no, I meant the magical thing.β Kairos sighed and rubbed his forehead, dark hair falling over his tanned face. βYou really are a party pooper, if youβll excuse my language. Honestly, do you have to ruin everything?β
βYes,β Kyubey simply replied. βDoing so generates despair, which can be used to combat entropy. It is simply efficient.β
βWell, good on you for having a goal, but youβll get tedious rather quickly.β Kairos squinted, staring closer at Kyubey before snapping his fingers. βYou know who you remind me of? The Black Knight!β
βIs the resemblance physical in nature?β asked Kyubey, letting his four-legged body fall down to the floor. He rested there, curled up and staring at Kairos as the mad ruler checked for similarities.
Pale, white body colour, beady eyes that stare into your soul, smallβ¦ βYep,β Kairos responded. βYou look exactly like him!β

... keep reading on reddit β‘For anyone who doesn't know, the Theodosian Walls were a complex of walls and tunnels around the city of Constantinople which were basically unconquerable until the Ottomans rolled up with literally the biggest cannon ever made and spent a few months fighting their way through.
My question then is if they were so obviously effective, why weren't the Byzantines popping up copies around every city they could towards the end? I get they were expensive and parts were made around the geography of Constantinople specifically. But it still seems like the basic idea could've been used to protect other key cities as well.
