A list of puns related to "Theatre Of The Oppressed"
The best preferred it would be that the torturer to die by the hand of the protagonist. Maybe even beg for his/her life, or at least acknowledge what he did with remorse or not. I would enjoy it very much to be passionate (many strong knife hits). I want the most for the protagonist to crave for the revenge(maybe a child against his molester) and at the end to have his soul redeemed by freedom, by blood.
Casca: How could you not order enough pizza for everyone?
Julius: But there was enough for everybody to have a slice...
Brutus: I ate 2 slices.
Julius: ATE TWO, BRUTE?
And did it change much from rule under the Yuan and post-Yuan eras?
Sure I don't get oppressed on a daily basis but you know what?
The backhanded sexist 'just jokes'. That's bullshit.
Writing me off because I'm a girl when I play a new game (how many expert newbies are there? That's bullshit.
Deciding my opinions are representative of my gender just because I belong to that gender. That's bullshit.
Having to be that much more knowledgeable, that much stronger, just to be on equal grounds to a room mostly full of white businessmen. That's bullshit.
Taking my empathy, compassion and integrity to mean that women aren't cut out to be stock brokers, mortgage brokers, real estate brokers, ceos, etc. That's bullshit.
Putting up with blatant staring at my chest, when I'm in a professional environment. That's bullshit.
Getting hit on at work, when I'm working, and trying to be serious. That's bullshit.
In fact, giving me more leeway, power and authority because I'm attractive and youre attracted so you want me to like you. That's bullshit.
If theres one woman on earth who has not experienced some kind of backhanded, disguised, 'just kidding' sexism then...well...we don't live on the same planet, and I'd like to move to hers.
Edit: I forgot a few!
'Youre good for a girl'. Bullshit. I'm good, or bad just like the rest of humanity is at things.
Roll a healer/support because youre a girl. Bullshit. I'll play a tank, a carry or a jungler and be damn good at it just to spite you. You roll a support. I'll roll what I want.
You're different from other girls. No I'm not idiot, I'm just the same. I pee the same, have periods and whatnot. Im not a special snowflake just because of my interests. Why is it ok for gamer guys to be part of a group but gamer girls are 'different'. We are all just gamers!! (Or artists, musicians, writers, professionals, etc.).
If im different it's because I'm different from most people you've met, not the entire female population of the world.
Give me a break about oppression and sexism being in our heads. It happens to men too. Male nurses, male chefs, male teachers and caregivers.
Discrimination is a problem. For almost everyone. Stop pretending that because you're a special snowflake who is immune that we are all whiney harpies.
(This might be the wrong sub for this)
I'm not the only one who has wondered about this. Randy Savage gave this response in his column when asked about it himself:
> Drag can be sexist, TQ, but it doesn't have to be. And when done right, it isn't. Blackface is always racist. Drag celebrates the craft of hyperfeminine presentation. Drag demonstrates that so much of what we think of as "naturally" feminine is not just a social construct, but quite literally a construction. Drag has the power to explode sexism, to expose it, by complicating people's preconceptions and misconceptions about what it means to be a woman. Blackface can only reinforce and amplify racism.
Which ascribes a bunch of positive qualities to drag without backing them up. If drag is supposed to be for the good of women, why are there no famous female drag queens? Why are they discouraged from getting the benefitstheir male counterparts get?. What separates the "craft of hyperfeminine presentation" from reinforcing female stereotypes? What does drag done right look like?
EDIT: I still think drag is problematic, but comparing it to blackface is unfair, and I'm sorry for that. And for using up your time, I wasn't expecting to get so many answers.
For example, African-Americans from the Triangular Trade to the end of segregation or Jews leading up to and during the Holocaust wouldnβt count because most acknowledge that those groups were oppressed in history.
Iβm in AP World Modern History and weβre currently studying Russia, and one thing that strikes me as odd is how oppressed Russian serfs seemed to be considering nobody talks about it.
First, Ivan IV (the Terrible)βs autocratic policies put them at the bottom of the social structure. Next, both Ivan IV and Peter I (the Great) instated policies that punished peasants that either revolted or fled the horrible conditions they faced. Finally, Catherine the Great reinstated aristocratic nobleβs power over peasants and increased the cruelty of possible punishments peasants could receive from those nobles. All in all, they were in a pretty bad spot from when Moscow was made independent from the Mongols all the way up until the 19-20th centuries.
What other groups do you know of that were historically oppressed but often forgotten about?
(also, inb4 βgamers are the most oppressed group in historyβ)
.... they were chess nuts boasting in an open foyer.
Popular Twitter user Dylan the Free Thinker is sticking it to teh liberal establishmunt.
In response to a tweet from the National Center for Lesbian Rights that announced Illinois schools would be including LGBTQ rights in their curriculum, Dylan wrote:
Far right Conservatives want the State to force children to say the Pledge of Allegiance on a daily basis. That's a pledge to the State. And when some kids aren't forced to say it anymore, well that means that it's "banned". Click here to watch a Fox News that frames the Pledge of Allegiance as "banned".
Back on Twitter:
It doesn't stop there. Dylan sees gamers as an "oppressed class".
Ayden Political's response:
Fact: Christians in the USA are privileged, not oppressed.
Another Dylan tweet gets fact checked:
Chicago has had 309 shootings as of August 13, 2019. Dylan is off by almost 1200. The USA as a whole has about 40,000 gun deaths a year.
