I've been re-watching Extreme Ghostbusters, besides the remixed theme song being absolutely amazing, the series is really good and the diversity doesn't seem forced. Also the theme song might not be as good as i think it is and it might just be that I'm watching so many back to back.
Now as being not an 80s kid I definitely didn't get to see the real Ghostbusters as a child. I wanted to know if there was any place I could watch this series (beside dvd or VHS if there even is any) that would awesome. If not I'll just try to collect vhs and dvd copies again if there are any.
Whenever I've heard fans of The Real Ghostbusters talk about the show, they draw a hard line between the first two seasons (78 episodes) and the remaining five (57 episodes) because of the heavy-handed censorship, recasting, and executive mandates that drastically altered the nature of the show starting in season three. They are essentially treated by fans as two completely different shows (no doubt made easier by the fact that "Slimer and" was appended to the show's title beginning with season four) and are judged separately as such.
But let's pretend for the moment that you couldn't do that. The Real Ghostbusters is a single, indivisible 135-episode work of fiction that no man may rend asunder. Its bad parts stand with its good and its good parts fall with its bad. In that scenario: Is it still a good show? Does it become a bad show? Is it simply made mediocre?
So I'm Canadian who recently turned 30 in the last few months. Out of nostalgia I started rewatching The Real Ghostbusters series after it was added to Netflix. As it turns out I have zero memories of the show after they started changing the main cast: Frank Welker, Maurice LaMarche, Arsenio Hall, Lorenzon Music, and Laura Summer. I even had episodes on VHS which only had episodes from these early seasons. I was wondering if anyone can confirm or deny that we only got to see these earlier seasons in the great white north? Because it seems to me like the only other reason that I don't remember these changes is because I've blocked them out of my memory like they were some kind of traumatic event.
I do remember the extreme ghostbusters though so it must be as good as I think it was 😉

Really hope they add more 80s cartoons. Would love to see the old Beetlejuice cartoon, Gummy Bears, Dungeons and Dragons, etc.
