A list of puns related to "The Innocents Abroad"
I know itβs on SoundCloud, but Iβm wondering if thereβs a higher quality version than the usual SoundCloud 128kbps. Any ideas?
I plan on consulting a tax lawyer about this, but in advance wanted to hear if anyone has any experience leaving the country directly from CA. California taxes capital gains as income tax, so when moving abroad, I want to avoid owing additional taxes to the state. I have family in other states and could move to spend more time with them, but I'm eager to leave the country sooner rather than later if it's an option. So has anyone moved abroad directly from California, and if so, can you share your experiences with state taxes that would be much appreciated.
3 additional points of context:
Thanks in advance!
Edit: Seems the general consensus is the safest route would be to relocate to a different state temporarily, severe all ties to CA, and then move abroad. I figured that would be best, thanks all!
I guess you can't have a pandemic, if you don't test for it. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Good job US CDC. Good job US gov.
I don't know if it's hubris to expect that community spread in the continental US is unlikely, sheer incompetence, or they're deliberately trying to kill as many people as possible.
Good luck to us all. I think I might go fly to China and stay there for a few weeks. Seems safer at this point.
Edit: missing word "if", and thanks for the silver stranger.
Some even abandoned the notion of ever coming back to the Philippines kasi daw "walang patutunguhan".
Would like to hear your experiences with the subject kung OFW kayo o nag babalak mag migrate soon!
For example, in Hong Kong I once went to Pizza Hit and they offered pizza with corn on it. Also Pizza Hut was way nicer than it ought to be. Like first date nice.
I've been living in Japan for a year and will be heading back in a month. I'm wonder what things caught you off guard, got under your skin, or just plain weirded you out?
Like if you go to France (I mean if you don't speak a word of French) are you saying bonjour or hello to shopkeepers, for example?
I ask because I always used to try say a few words but now I often feel like people just look at me like I'm an idiot and start speaking English.
Maybe the prevalence of English today makes it just seem dumb to young people for you to try...like why would you? If course I speak English...that kind of attitude.
So what do you do?
Need work ASAP. I am a 35 years old female Egyptian, living in Cairo, Egypt; who wants to work abroad or work from home for foreign/multinational companies. I have a big Debt and unfortunately I choose to resign from my previous work due to the non-stop bullying, offensive and disrespectful treatment, this took place as a result to weak management and absent CEO.
I am very passionate and fast learner, my 10 years work experience was in a multinational chemical company. My work experience is very diversified, as I worked in supply chain and some commercial tasks (handling desk sales, logistics & planning and customer support). I wanted to shift my career to HR, and I had this opportunity in my previous job and worked in HR department for 6 months, but then I was indirectly forced to resign.
I appreciate all the help you guys can give me.
Thanks in advance, much appreciated & hope no one falls in a similar situation like mine.
Hey there r/solotravel,
We know times are tough right now as the world faces this public health crisis. For us travel junkies, there's also a lot of uncertainty about when we'll be able to safely pursue our hobby again.
To help you keep your spirits up and give everyone a little dose of socialisation while many/most of us are under quarantine, your friendly mods have decided to post a daily sanity thread with travel topics and community activities.
Today's topic: Whatβs the best meal youβve ever had abroad? Tell us all about it and inspire us for some quarantine cooking!
Hey everybody. Interested to know your answers to the question above.
I am a UK-based employee, and my firm is not allowing us to work remotely from abroad during the pandemic, citing tax risks. I'm just wondering if there have been similar requests at your firm, and what the outcome was.
Cheers.
Now I know this subreddit is not particularly welcoming to Mainlanders like me. Most of the time δΊζ―insults get thrown around because it's the most convenient thing to do. But do hear me out if you are a rational person.
I resent the CCP. Personally I was denied the opportunity to have siblings because of the one-child policy in the 1990s when I was born. Through that policy they have eliminated more ethnic Chinese than any invader or regime.I resent them stifling freedom of speech in my country, I resent them brainwashing my people and yeah,I resent them for not allowing my favourite KPop singers to come perform on the Mainland lol (you will understand by reading my username).
But I can't sympathise much or identify with Hong Kongers either. They now moved from rejecting the CCP to rejecting being Chinese, they have always looked down on us Mainlanders as hillbillies, and the worst xenophobia/racism I have ever experienced was in Hong Kong trying to order food at a θΆι€ε in Mandarin. The hostile looks I got when I asked for directions in Mandarin too. I religiously read LIHKG posts and they sure throw around the racist termζ―ι£ around as if that has no equivalence to the n word.Sure Mainland netizens ain't no angels, but personally as someone who never uses such words at any race since I would like to regard myself as a decent human being, I find all their Zhina calling personally offensive. Down with the CCP?Sure. Rejecting your ethnic identity and worship Americans like gods thinking that racist punk Trump will save your ass? Nope.
So this is my 2 cents to the situation. I find both sides to be extremely problematic. And I believe my views represent a lot of Mainlanders who are not dyed in the wool Communists.
