Currently your main rewards for repelling an entire Crusade is a measly amount of gold, some piety and -50 decadence. This is very unsatisfying as successfully defending against a Crusade takes a lot of effort, money, men and micromanaging.
I would love to see a more permanent reminder of this great feat such as :-
A new trait called 'Defender of the Faith' which gives the player a permanent +1 diplomacy, +1 martial, religious enemy damage +15%, defence combat modifier +15, and same faith +5 buff. This would only be awarded to the liege on winning the war and not to his commanders who participated.
More money. Once the defensive Crusade war has been won an event announcement pops up telling you that "as the heathens fled the holy land they left behind a great deal of loot and valuables which you have now claimed for your own." This would be between 10%-50% of the Crusade fund plus perhaps a random artefact or two and maybe some high ranking prisoners.
More piety based on your war contribution score. Sometthing like 68% war contribution yields 3400 piety.
An appropriate holy 'nickname' such as 'the shield of Islam','Defender of the true Faith etc.
These are just may thoughts as I recently successfully defended against a crusade for Jerusalem during the most recent Monarch's journey challenge. Let me know what you think.
who would win in a war?
Team A: Iran, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Hezbollah
Team B: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Greece, Israel
Rules:
First of all HOLY SHIT WHERE HAS THIS GAME BEEN MY WHOLE LIFE I LOVE IT.
Secondly, Steam Screenshot Link.
I was King of Wales/Ireland, participated in a Crusade and named one of my younger sons the beneficiary because, well, I've been killed by many of my brothers and sending him to rule half a world away seemed like a great way to deal with that problem.
But then my fantastic fucking ruler decided not to die in his 50s. Or his 60s. Or his 70s. His oldest son died, then he finally gave up the ghost himself. And now I have this.
And I know I probably shouldn't complain about inheriting 2 new kingdoms & almost 100K gold, but as a new player this is fucking intimidating lol. 14/7 demesne & 36/19 vassals.
I also need to figure out how to cuck myself because... well at some point in my time as King of Egypt & Nubia I became celibate. I do have a younger brother and a few nephews, so it won't be the end of the dynasty, but let's suffice it to say that I haven't exactly been prudent about educating these young men and I'd rather make a new baby.
In short, I love the fact that this game can randomly swamp you with hours of administrative work. Thanks Paradox! I'm not sure when I'll find the time necessary to untangle this, but I can't wait to get back to it because it's been a wild ride.
I may just be lacking the context, but it always seems to me from looking at online photos of ancient ruins in Egypt/Nubia/Kush that ancient buildings were built far away from the Nile. The land looks very barren. Pyramids are surrounded not just by dry earth, but by loose blowing sand. Nothing green grows.
Would it have been this dry when they were in use, or have environmental changes lead to barren landscapes? A lot of media of ancient Egypt portray lush environments alongside the Nile, but the surriving ruins don't seem to reflect this.
Example pyramids in Nubia.
With the FFC calling off the strike and the growing international support for the revolution, I think that we should use this opportunity to call for a global boycott of countries supporting the rsf and tmc. As part of the diaspora this is probably our most powerful weapon other than garnering attention to the atrocities, which we have been quite successful at.
