A list of puns related to "The Girl From U.n.c.l.e."
I've been loving how often Man From Uncle comes up these days- it frequently comes up as an underrated gem and a movie deserving of a sequel. Most people seemed to miss it on its initial release, and even the critical response was lukewarm from those who saw it. I really loved it and it's become one of the most rewatchable movies released in the last decade.
With a new Guy Ritchie movie coming out, I'm seeing reviews again coming out strong with mentions on his directorial flourishes and stylistic choices. It seems like you either love or hate it, but to me they're what make his movies so much fun from Lock Stock, to Sherlock Holmes, and Man From Uncle. It's got me thinking back on King Arthur, which seems to be one of his most panned movies that's been largely forgotten to time. This thing only came out in 2017, but it feels like forever ago that we heard chatter of the planned 5 movie series!
Just like Man From Uncle, I think this one seriously deserves some reevaluation. While not quite as perfect with pacing a bit choppier, it's still solid. It's this weird blend of fantasy, big battles, and street level shenanigans with some really great energy infused from Ritchie's cross cutting and playful back and forth through dialogue and montages. Daniel Pemberton turned in one of my favorite scores, with some great bangers to listen to when you want ta burst of energy. We have an interesting villainous turn from Jude Law, and Charlie Hunnam turns in a fun performance that's easily my favorite outside of Lost City of Z.
I think there's really something there if you leave your expectation for what a King Arthur story has traditionally been, and by the end the pieces were in place for a very interesting sequel. Unfortunately I think the movie's biggest disservice to itself was leaving out the most interesting elements of the legend and saving them for later, but I really wish we could have seen Arthur, Lancelot, Guinevere, and Merlin's later adventures through this interpretation.
TL,DR: If you enjoyed Man from Uncle and other Ritchie movies, try giving King Arthur a chance for another kinetic movie that went underrated
Looking for a campy spy movie to watch in the same vein. Preferably a movie, rather than a series. Doesn't have to be a spy movie, but I am kind of in that mood. Wasn't looking for a Guy Ritchie film, but I enjoy that style of cinematography. These are all rather specific guidelines, I guess, but none are absolutely required, so even something that is none of these that I might also enjoy is acceptable. Just looking for a movie to watch this weekend.
After watching this video regarding that this movie's style is actually its substance, I was interested in watching it and I do not regret it.
It is fun-style type of movie, it is incredibly funny sometimes, I liked the tension, I liked the characters, I liked pretty much everything about it.
There was a clear feeling of the 007 style of cinematography, acting and even charm.
The characters were often witty but yet charming in their own way. Certain scenes are subtly humorous and plain goofy for the sake of being goofy and funny, and some of the scenes were meant to make you feel that you were watching a James Bond film from the 70s.
It is a shame that it got mediocre reviews and did not get an unbelievable amount of revenue in the box office

I am confused. For anyone that has this set can you confirm if these tv movies (To Trap a Spy (1964), The Spy with My Face (1965),
One Spy Too Many (1966)
One of Our Spies Is Missing (1966)
The Spy in the Green Hat (1966)
The Karate Killers (1967)
The Helicopter Spies (1968)
How to Steal the World (1968)
) are included in this. So were these "movies" essentially the tv episodes w/ extra footage shot for?
It was such a good film, I fully recommend it. PLUS: there's so many scenes which reminded me of Archer scenes.

LO ESTOY ESPERANDO DESDE EL PRIMER ROZER OK?????
I loved The Man From U.N.C.L.E. next to The Bourne Trilogy and Casino Royale it is my most beloved Spy movie of all times and I am ecstatic it is getting a Sequel. I was a bit worried that wont be the case because the movie found itself in the unique position of not fitting into the genre it was marketed for. I put this in the same category of "The Princess Bride." It was an unfortunate release in theaters because the marketing department did not know how to send this out to an audience that appreciates exceptional writing, smart acting, great directing, well crafted character development and a story that does not fit into a simple box of "Action" or "Drama" or "Comedy." It also did not help that they released it along with MI5.
The Man From U.N.C.L.E is truly a fantastic movie that plays to a full story experience. Characters start with depth and grow and progress. Comedy and whit take the place of bad acting. Exceptional writers and directors take the film to a level of making the audience think and become attached to these characters. As always, Ritchie cleverly subverts each set-piece, letting chase scenes unfold in carefully staged but enjoyably inventive ways, often putting the real action in the background while the characters act as if they're above all this nastiness.
