A list of puns related to "The Flowers Of War"
FYI this post will have spoilers for Crimson Flower and other 3H routes. Also it's kind of a long post. Beware all who enter here, etc.
The majority of this post is centered around how the BE:E route handles the topic of war, but there might be some bleed from other routes (except for Silver Snow, which I haven't played yet). Please feel free to comment about other routes if you want to! The channel of discussion is wide open for everyone. I also want to note that Crimson Flower was the first route I played, so this experience colors my opinions greatly.
Overall, I was really impressed with the world building and storytelling in 3H, and it's my new favorite FE game. One of the major story bits that sat extremely well with me was this game's handling of war: the idea, the execution, and the implications of it.
I think most reasonable people can agree that war is not the answer to moral conundrums, especially those faced by 3H characters. Fantasy media rarely paints war as the gruesome and inhumane thing that it is, or the fact that real people are affected by it, and those people are often not in a position of power to influence anything.
In my opinion, 3H diverges from this in a refreshing way: war sucks, and it negatively impacts those we're trying to protect.
Each of the paths in 3H has a different understanding of the necessity of war, but the general conclusion is that it's an unfortunate but sometimes necessary means to a revolutionary or liberatory end. Each house leader's methods have been debated endlessly, so it's not my purpose here to say who's right. For me, the mere acknowledgment from the developers that philosophical nuance surrounding warfare actually exists really spoke to me.
As most of us are aware, every FE game deals with war to a certain degree, but in my opinion, prior to 3H, the games romanticize it or sanitize it to the point of discomfort (early game Conquest, anyone?). 3H stuck out to me pretty early on in the first "killing" mission you take with your class (I can't remember the exact chapter, but it's the one where we deal with Kostas and the bandits). I was lucky (?) enough to go BE with my first playthrough and use Linhardt as my first unit to KO a bandit, and his line after winning his first matchup turned my stomach and horrified me a little bit. The other character's opening KO lines were relatively inconsequential, but for me, that was one of the first signs that the game was taking a different direction than usual,
... keep reading on reddit โกI'm not talking about what happened in Nanking, but the specific story shown in the movie. If you haven't seen the movie and don't care about spoilers this is basically what happens:
American goes to a church in Nanking during the Japanese invasion to help bury a priest. The church is declared a safe zone and hiding in there are a group of girls (church students basically) and a group of prostitutes. The Japanese find out and they "invite" the girls to an officer's party. Realizing what's gonna happen, the prostitutes decide to go in place of the girls, while they escape with the priest.

This week we will be on holiday in the Ardennes region in Belgium. We will be visiting the graves of the relatives of a few fellow redditors there and lay some flowers and pay our respects. If you also have a relative there and are unable to visit we will be honoured to do so in your name.
As my husband and I were waiting for the elderly/vulnerable/disabled shopping hour one old twat was bitching about not being first in line (even though he didn't get there first) and was harassing the poor security guards. Fuck off you moany old twat, you'll get in the shop!
