It seems insane that people, while talking about victims of communism, almost completly ignore victims of capitalism.
We hear a lot about Great Chinese Famine, or Soviet Famines, yet not nearly as much attention is given to Irish Potato Famine or Bengal Famine and the rest of famines in British Raj.
Bad conditions and forced labour of Gulags are horrible, but prison labour in USA and tortures in Guantanamo Bay are okay.
Katyn is tragedy, Leopold's Congo is forgotten.
While every bad thing done under every socialist country is a fault of socialism, bad things done in capitalist countries are considered completely independant.
Centuries of slavery and genocide can be somehow forgotten, and we consider our capitalist nations fine, because now that we developed we are fine.
UK is okay, let's ignore famines in Raj and slavery, USA is okay, let's ignore genocide on the natives and slavery, and in general let's just forget about colonialism.
But if USSR had to do some bad things to develop, when they were created after devastating WW:I, and then another devastating civil war, out of backwards unindustrialized Russia, they are literally Satan.
I'm from a post-Soviet state, and if we weren't liberated by the soviets, chances are, I wouldn't write here, maybe wouldn't exist as it's unsure if nazis wouldn't have enough time to kill my ancestors. And while we aren't as rich as the west, we weren't before the soviets either, but we developed.
A lot of citizens of post-colonial states on the other hand are propably too poor to have a computer and internet to write here.
Current situation is truely a testament to statement "History is always written by the winners".
You don't need a tv, you don't need a PS4, you don't need steak dinner, etc. We have to stop pretending that the poor in the US are dying in the streets at incredible numbers. If someone works 40 hours a week and still can't make enough to afford food, shelter, and water then something is seriously wrong it's not even remotely possible for that to happen unless you have large families which you shouldn't have had to begin with. Your kids should be taken from you if that's the case because you're clearly not suitable to care for them.
It's not doing anyone any favors playing the victim and pretending that we need some sort of government handout.

Some guys ordered 2 bacon double cheeseburgers, nothing special. But when I went to deliver them to his table, one of the two guys got really excited about it and cheered βyes mate your an absolute legend, thank you man, thank you so muchβ
He looked to be in his mid 40s and by the tone of his voice was probably on something like gas after a hospital appointment.
Regardless of reason this guy calling me a legend for bringing his bacon double over in the 3rd hour of an 8 hour shift absolutely made my day
