A list of puns related to "The Ballroom Blitz"
Hello,
Up until now I haven't really played this operation too much but yesterday and today I've played it a bit with a couple of friends and both games had the same outcome - we put on a really strong defense and confined the enemy team to their own base. One battalion later, they got the airship and shortly after that we started to realize that in fact, we have no way of fighting it in this sector. There's no AA guns, there's no stationary machine guns, we get no ground or air vehicles. Nothing. I believe this might perhaps be an oversight on the devs' part (?), as I have never seen this in any other operation before.
Let me know if leaving us defenseless was somehow intentional or if this could be fixed.
p.s. : we won both games despite being defenseless, we just all defended whichever objective the airship wasn't on and kept switching lol
I was just listening to the song and I think it would make a great setup to a bard (the man in the back) attacking a tavern. Has anyone does this, or adapted any other lyrics of a song into an encounter?
Hey folks!
"Standard" Sword & Sorcery is all fine and good, with your trusty magic blade, spear, or axe at the ready...but we've all seen those knock-down, drag-out, action movie scenes where the combatants are grabbing at whatever they can, right?
And while this can be amazing and fun seeing fighting styles change partway through like a Jackie Chan flick, it isn't really represented that well in D&D with the "d4 damage, no proficiency" of improvised weapons.
I'm not saying that it's not balanced as is...but here's a few ideas to make things more exciting and fun for your players.
If you want to encourage more use of improvised weapons in general, consider instituting the Disarm Optional Rule from the DMG. When anyone can disarm (albeit at the cost of attacks), both PCs and enemies will find their weapons to be tossed aside more often. And if you really want to make them sweat, have the enemy follow it up with an Objection Interaction to throw said weapon behind the bar, or under the gap in a door, or down a pit.
Another option to increase the use of improvised weapons is to have your PCs spend time in areas where they can't or shouldn't bring their weapons. Maybe the town doesn't allow weapons inside, and they had to leave them at the guardhouse or peacebond them. Maybe it's a bar brawl or fight with a petulant noble or merchant prince's men, and brandishing real weapons would be social suicide. Maybe this creature is "special" (like rust monster or black pudding special) in that legend says weapons tends to break on it. Or maybe you just want your PCs to answer the age old question: "how many mind-controlled street kids can we beat up before they overtake us?"
An especially exotic version of this is the classic "unkillable" monster - more of a puzzle than a combat encounter (even if it has all the markings of one). It quickly becomes evident that it is impervious or regenerates instantly from your weapons (maybe you're too low level to have magic weapons, or maybe it's even immune to those!) BUT! Perhaps a party member could break off one of its spines or scales and attack it with itself, or find them around its lair. Or maybe you can take that enchanted bedpan you have found in your early levels and use it to bludgeon the thing to death with a "magic weapon".
While wanting your party to use improvised weapons more often is all fine and good, it won't be fun for them if all they can do is 1d4 without proficien
Hey guys! I know a lot of people are either self quarantined or force quarantined in these trying times, so I wanted to bring up an idea to pass the time.
Seeing as we have a bunch of people sitting at home, I wanted to see if anyone is interested in doing a fight club! I haven't seen much on if any are still going, but I've been itching to get back to Bloodborne pvp and a time like this seems perfect!
So, anyone interested in some hot hunter on hunter action?
I think lvl cap should be around 150 or so. This was the lvl cap of the old Blood drunk hunters fightclub if I remember correctly. More rules to follow if there is any interest.
Or Empires Edge for that matter. Please guys a man can only handle playing Monte Grappa and Amiens so many times.
