The English Studies faculty at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi is pleased to invite applications for a 9-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of English in Literary and Creative Writing Studies. We seek a multidisciplinary scholar and creative writer to join our emerging interdisciplinary faculty in the fall of 2022.

We seek applicants who specialize in the cultural histories and theories of race, ethnicity, and indigeneity; dispossession and empire; revolution, resistance, and decoloniality; diaspora and migration; or non-Anglophone literary traditions. We are especially interested in applicants whose creative and critical work takes a comparative, hemispheric, or transnational approach. Successful candidates will effectively articulate how their scholarship and creative activity will enrich the interdisciplinary nature of our department and resonate with students across cultural and educational divides.

The successful candidate will teach in a growing BA and MA program, which includes scholars in Literary Studies, Writing Studies, Creative Writing, and Applied Linguistics. Teaching expectations include a 3-3 course load comprising service courses, upper-division major courses, and graduate courses in the master’s program. These might include workshops in fiction writing as well as seminars on literary history and form(s) of the novel.

The Department of English at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi offers English majors a choice in either a Literary or Writing Studies emphasis, curricula for secondary English certification, Writing for Non-Profits and TESOL certificates, and Creative Writing Minor, Literary Studies Minor, and Technical and Professional Writing Minor. I don't think this should be a controversial opinion, but I believe despite our lack of major success in the tournament Painters going to have a hell of a coaching tree in the next decade. Shrewsberry at PSU, Lutz, probably Brantley eventually. Painter does good work for his assistants.

The No. 17-ranked Red Raiders (5-1) are on a three-game winning streak after a 51-44 win over Abilene Christian (5-1) on Wednesday following victories over Troy and Grambling. Texas Tech head coach Chris Beard is one win from 100 in his Texas Tech career after earning win No. 99 on Wednesday against the Wildcats. In his fifth year leading the program, Beard won his first game as the Red Raider head coach with a 93-67 victory over Houston Baptist on Nov. 11, 2016. Since then, Beard has led the program to the 2018 NCAA Elite 8, 2019 Big 12 regular-season championship, 2019 NCAA Championship Final, and 99-45 overall record. He was named the 2019 Associated Press National Coach of the Year and the 2018 and 2019 Big 12 Coach of the Year. He is 195-75 (72.2 win percentage) in his ninth year as an NCAA head coach.

Kyler Edwards is coming off a season-high 19 points in the win over ACU and is averaging 15.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in the three-game stretch. Edwards was 9-for-10 from the free-throw line and Nimari Burnett went 8-for-10 at the line for the Red Raiders who were 25-for-37 in the victory over the Wildcats. Marcus Santos-Silva recorded a career-high with four blocked shots against ACU and also had eight points and six assists, while Burnett finished with 10 points and added three more steals which takes him to 14 on the season and 13th nationally. Mac McClung leads the Red Raiders with 15.7 points per game this season but was limited to single-digits for the only time with eight points in the win. He was 6-for-7 from the line in the game and is now 30-for-35 for the season. He leads the conference and is 10th nationally with his 30 made free throws.

So I got accepted into Texas A & M Corpus Christi's CLS program, haven't really seen anyone talk about their experiences with this university. Anyone have any thoughts? Should I accept? I also got into MD Anderson's program at UT but that's 2 years instead of 1.

This series is against some mid to upper majors, but is a somewhat prestigious event, so it gets one thread.

I grew up in North Georgia and spent a lot of time hiking and camping with my family and my boy Scout troop, eventually earning Eagle Scout. I was fascinated by my scoutmaster who was so knowledgeable about all the plants and animals we encountered, and after graduating high school, I wanted to study environmental science or biology in some way. I attended Piedmont College in North Georgia and majored in Biology. There I met Dr. Carlos Camp, who inspired me to become a professor. Basically when I realized you could get paid to teach and study nature, I knew instantly that academia was right for me.

I never intended to become a marine biologist, but, when I interviewed at Georgia Tech for my Ph.D., I met Dr. Marc Weissburg and became very interested in his research studying how blue crabs use chemical cues to find prey. Building upon this work, I completed my dissertation studying the chemical cues prey use to detect and avoid blue crabs and other predators. After completing my Ph.D. in 2006, I accepted my current position, and I have been studying chemical signaling between predators and prey for the past decade. Most of my research has focused on oyster reefs, specifically how the communities on reefs are affected by predators and how oysters change their shell growth to reduce risk of predation. This is a team effort though, and, I have worked with colleagues and students to pursue other research interests including toxicological effects on blue crabs and habitat selection by oyster larvae among others.

Some recent findings in my lab include: 1) fish predators benefit oyster reefs by consuming crabs that in turn would consume young oysters, 2) when the water becomes turbid (cloudy), fish cannot see well and crabs become more abundant. This causes oysters to decline and overall biodiversity to decrease, 3) oysters react to crab predators by growing heavier, stronger shells. This reduces their vulnerability to crabs but also lowers their reproduction, 4) oyster larvae can ‘smell’ healthy reefs and will select appropriate places to grow, and 5) pesticides used for mosquito abatement e

These guys have changed business names twice. They were originally STX Sport Cards and Collectibles and offered preorders on Celebrations ETBs for $60. They then took all the preorder money and ran and disconnected any form of communication. They then changed to Apex Sport Cards and Collectibles but then closed their website when people called them out. They are now Blue Collar Collectibles and even have the same pictures from their original store (STX).
