Hey folks! I'm a current FEMA RSV looking for opportunities while not deployed. One option I'm looking at is deploying with Team Rubicon, however my main concern is what /if/ I get requested to deploy for FEMA when I'm out?
Disruption to the TR mission/having someone to fill in my spot, and on the FEMA end, travel from elsewhere that's not my residence of record are the top concerns I can find.
Thoughts? Also, if anyone has any ideas on /related/ disaster/EM work while not deployed, please comment! I'm working as an Amazon Flex and DoorDash driver but of course I'd like to get more EM experience in.

Howdy folks. Does anybody have any experience working for or with Team Rubicon? I've been looking in to it a lot lately as an option to gain some EM experience. I know they primarily deal with response and recovery but I'm interested to hear any good or bad stories before I go through the application process to become a volunteer. Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Copywriter, to join our forward-thinking Marketing and Creative team. The right person can craft weapons-grade copy that empowers veterans to continue to serve and tugs on the heartstrings of our donors. You are passionate about telling powerful stories and finding creative solutions to complex problems.
In this role, you will provide content development and copywriting to support the team’s efforts in recruiting new donors and volunteers, as well as storytelling to increase awareness and affinity for the Team Rubicon brand. You will also help the Creative team fulfill requests from TR’s key corporate and philanthropic partners, support other divisions within TR, assist volunteer communications leaders across the country, and draft copy for integrated marketing campaigns and collateral. Research, creative concepting, curiosity, and kickass are your calling cards.

Duties:
- Write for multiple objectives: Lead copy development and participate in creative concepting across a diverse range of work including online and offline fundraising, volunteer recruitment, brand awareness, training courses, voice/copy style guides, and speech-writing
- Write for multiple platforms: Draft copy for all Team Rubicon channels including digital and print ads, video scriptwriting, social media graphics, print collateral, email, and web properties
- Maintain and update departmental references (i.e. TR’s voice and style guide)
- Provide support with copyediting and proofreading and editorial choices
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary creative and marketing team, as well as experts in disaster response, corporate partners, and external contractors to deliver high quality creative output
Experience and Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree in creative writing or journalism preferred; Masters from the School of Hard Knocks accepted
- 2-3 years experience working as part of a multidisciplinary creative team required (e.g., in-house creative or marketing services team)
- Advertising or marketing agency experie
