A list of puns related to "Tanu Weds Manu"
Remember how Karni Sena amplified Padmavat and kept it in the news ?
Taapseeβs first movie in a year Haseen Dilruba is being released tomorrow. Suddenly Kangana starts attacking her for inane reasons and media is amplifying this obviously.
Few points
Kanganas post attacks her for wearing sari. But taapsee wore sari in Thappad and even the Russian Instagram she refers to was posted weeks ago. So why not attack her then ? These are old pics anyway. Why attack now ?
Kangana attacked her for signing up movies meant for her. But taapsee has not signed up any new movies recently. Her insta is full of her work for all the movies sheβs been doing etc. So why attack her now ?
If Taapsee signing kanganaβs movies is an issue, shouldnβt Kangana attack her when she signs up movies ??
Now the producers of Haseen Dilruba also produced her blockbuster TwM. Any publicity is good publicity. Suddenly for last two days we are all talking about taapsee. Kangana loses nothing as sheβs a certified crazy and also her followers will sympathise with her maybe. Taapsee gets attention and the movie gets promoted.
I say this cause of the timing. Right after that post was made - a fully produced interview of taapsee and Haseen dilruba was released on YouTube with these questions. You canβt just produce a session without weeks of prep work. Is it just a PR play ?
My conspiracy theory is: Ye sab Milkar hum ko ullu bana rahe hain. This is all PR. We being a PR cynical group should read it first.
The first movie was boring and didn't attract me. Also, I didn't laugh even once. If you ask me to tell the story of the movie, I would not be able to because the movie was not interesting enough to keep me in front of the TV for 2 hours. But some things I liked were the unpredictable situations, Kangana's character and the song "Sadi Gali".
But I loved the second movie. It hooked me right from the start. It was funnier and more interesting. I loved Kangana Ranaut's acting and there were some great characters like Tanu, Kusum (both played by Kangana), Raja Awasthi, (played by Jimmy) and Kumar Singh, the lawyer one (played by Mohammed Zeeshan). I even liked its songs more than the first one. (especially Ghani Bawri)
But I didn't like the ending of the second movie. Tanu and Manu were in a toxic relationship. I would have no problem if they had solved their problems but in the end, they just get together (Clearly Tanu wanted masala in her life and Manu didn't). And the first thing that happens is, Tanu gets angry at Manu's tie choice. Like, what? I hate this trope that continuous quarrels among couples are okay. I felt bad for both Kusum and Raja because, in my opinion, they were done dirty by Tanu and Manu. It would have made more sense to me if Tanu & Raja get together and Manu & Kusum and Tanu & Manu become good friends. It is really unfair to Kusum that Manu leads her on, she fights with her family for him and then she has to make the sacrifice. I guess, Manu never loved Kusum but only Tanu.
And this brings me to several questions. Did Manu really love Kusum or was it just because she had Tanu's face? And why did Kusum love Manu. It is weird that she suddenly likes a man double her age. I would have loved to see her side of the story and why she liked him. And what message does the movie is trying to give? That marriages are "7 janmo ka saath"? I love Tanu and Manu individually and understand both but they are not good for each other. Tanu literally left him in the mental asylum and Manu was so passive-aggressive with Tanu.
Also, why on earth was Manu so deeply in love with Tanu at the start of the first movie when he had only seen her sleeping and that too only once? He didn't even know her personality. Would he have loved her even if she was "ugly"? Doesn't this indicate that he loves her body and not her? (This is one of the reasons why I hate "love at first sight.)
What are your thoughts on both the movies?
Here is my ranking.
I discovered the music of Tanu Weds Manu (1) and was immediately blown away. The 4-5 songs in the album were the epitome of the excellence while being close to the earth at the same time. I cannot describe the rush I feel in me when I reach the antara of Ae rangrez mere, it is absolutely ethereal. Till date i have not seen a single cover of that song anywhere and I would be surprised if somebody is able to sing that live. I love Wadali brother's take on the song, but I live Krsna's version better. I would have loved to hear somebody like Sonu Nigam's take on that song, that could have been beyond fantastic. Also the Yun Hi song by Roopkumar Rathore, who is another very very learned, skilled and untapped singer is also fabulous. There are a some parts of that song which go very very high but he nevertheless hits them so effortlessly. One more song Kitne Dafe, by Mohit Chauhaan, who although sings in his usual dependable style, carries the beautiful tune to another height. Another song which warrants mention the free flowing Mannu Bhaiyya, which doesn't seem to follow a set pattern. It has been very ably sang by now rarely heard but always delightful Sunidhi and supported very well by Ujjayini Mukherjee. I could only assume how complicated it would have been to compose and to then again to sing this complicated almost conversation like lyrics. Himanshu Sharma deserves attention for his writing which are not the usual run of the mill kind, but poetry in themselves. Again here Ae Rangrez mere and Mannu Bhaiyya takes the cake.
I love the musical style of Krsna because he doesn't seem to follow the nowadays set pattern of westernized or west infused, generic, factory made tunes. I expected him to get a lot of work after this success, but he didn't even get a lot of mentions in press. To my surprise Anand L Rai didn't even award him the complete album of TWM 2, which was also not bad, but nowhere near to the originality and excellence on TWM 1 imo. I noticed that only two more low budget movie albums were released which had by him called Mirza Juliet and Cute Kameena. I am sure nobody has heard those albums but of course Krsna shined in them too. If you guys liked TWM 1, I would recommend you guys to check out these albums too, they are available in Spotify. Nowadays I believe he is trying his hands at international independent solo songs in US and it pains me to think that we have almost lost such a talent.
Long rant, but I really think he is somthing of

Not sure how much of this is true. But there is definitely a cabal that works against you if you don't do it's bidding.
Never pay to watch movies made by these cabal walas
...especially those who made Parasite.
I guess that says it.
To each his own talent. I cannot be Zidane, Zidane can't be Rafael, Rafael cannot be Amrish Puri.
It's a bit of my rant against those who who got this Parasite fever after it won the Oscar.
The scene when Datto realizes that the affair is hurting her athletics practice so it's time to end it with Manu Sharma, she confronts him and says some dialogues in Haryanvi,in the very climax of the scene she says "Chalu su Sharma ji........can anyone tell me word to word what she says after itill last turning back and going separate. Thanks in advance
Its Kangana's film through and through and I loved it.
In the prequel you can tell it was Madhavan's movie as much as Kangana's and where the audience identified more with Madhavan's character, but in the sequel and especially after Queen all eyes are on Kangana and does she deliver or what. In my opinion she has such range to her talent that rest of the crop of her current generation peers fade in comparison to her.
She plays two characters in this movie as everyone knows and they are not your typical Sita Gita type iteration of Bollywood double role where one is extra over confident and another is extra mousy and so on and so forth. Both the characters exudes confidence in their own way, they are so fleshed out and looks so lived in that I can try and not find fault in the portrayal.
Its not as if the movie doesn't have faults, like the script is kind of convoluted and the third act of the film could have been cut short by ten minutes or so,but those faults are so effortlessly over shadowed by Kangana's acting that I don't mind them enough to nitpick over them.
Another thing is you know how Indian movies are changing and I see a growing trend of. The main protagonists aren't the only one with the spotlight in the film nowadays, its an ensemble, with even the bit part actors stealing the show. Earlier the movies all had to be about the hero and to a lesser degree heroine, with all the friends/relatives of the hero/heroine there just for filler, And I for one appreciate this change. One of the best bit part today in the movie was of lawyer Chintu. Man his arc had me in splits.
So all in all go watch this flick you wouldn't be disappointed.
First half has some real awesome moments
Is it the typical Bollywood film with a Big wedding and few jokes or does it have an actual plot.. a story worth watching? I watched the first one and it was a typical bollywood film with romance I couldnt care less about and few jokes...

I just finished watching the movie and I really didn't get what all the hype was about. Let me start by saying Kangana was stunning and I applaud her performance but apart from her there is literally nothing to this movie. The storyline is weak and all characters have half written roles. I actually felt the script doesn't live up to anything concrete. Apart from some witty one-liner jokes and good timing by Deepak, the movie was pretty much meh. And I get it ki the movie might be trying to show the ugly side of marriage and show everyone has issues and it should be sorted out, but c'mon everything in the movie just seems to be illogical and over the top: wife leaving husband in a mental asylum, husband marrying a wife look-alike, wife look-alike agrees to marry, wife attends husband's marriage. Am I missing something?
