This is my favorite album by The Front Bottoms. I think it is the perfect mix between their Folk Punk beginnings and their more rock-influenced sound. I decided to write some appreciation posts about the first two songs of the album, and thought I'd share them here with you guys. What are you're favorite songs and moments on the album? What do you like about the lyrics? What don't you like? Let's just talk about this album people.

Au Revoir: The perfect intro track. It beautifully sets the tone for the album and is a super interesting and unique track in TFB’s discography. Its lyrics are simplistic, and I think it adds to the songs beauty. If it had more complex lyrics, it would take away from the track, as the short run time combined with the lyrics makes this track very powerful in its simplicity, which is further complemented by the single notes being picked, instead of the usual power chords. The harmonica in the background also makes the track more texturally interesting, without making it too harmonically complex. This all culminates when the electric guitar and drums come in during the last part of the song, with Brian’s vocals punching through the instruments, intensifying the emotional qualities of the song, before calming down back into the single notes and harmonica, ending the song how it started and preparing you for the rest of the album.

Skeleton: I may be biased, as this is one of the TFB songs that got me into the band, but this song is not talked about enough. It starts out strong with the drums pounding out quarter notes, with that insanely catchy guitar lead filling in the spaces. Mat fucking KILLS it on the verses, with that awesome low tom keeping the beat tight, while the kick adds rhythmic complexity, and the crash complements Brian’s vocal inflection. The lyrics on this track are fucking hilarious, with lines like: “Who am I kidding? I can’t get past you. You are the cops; you are my student loans.” These lines perfectly exemplify the story of the song, as they are actually quite dark, hiding behind a veil a comedy. This speaks much to the way that the song, in my interpretation, shows Brian hiding and ignoring his pain by smoking weed. During the pre-chorus, the lines about him getting stoned get more straight forward, being odd, yet really emotionally impactful. Mat transitioning to sixteenth notes on the hi-hat and the guitar riff in the background really push the song forward during the pre-chorus, building up tension when it

I learned a Japanese saying that goes: "a capable hawk hides its talons."

If a hawk showed off its talons, its prey would know to run away, and the hawk wouldn't get its meal. The smart hawk hides its talons until it's too late for the prey to run away.

I think the Yang Gang is one of Andrew's talons that most of the country doesn't suspect/acknowledge yet.

I want to run a Vanguard Detachment, alongside an Astra Militarum Battalion containing my Warlord. Can I run that Vanguard Detachment like so:

Talons of the Emperor says I can include SoS in a Custodes detachment, and keep their rules Battle Forged. Then Execution Force says they can be in a Vanguard Detachment with Command Benefits set to "none" and the detachment "cannot contain the same datasheet more than once". The detachment outlined above seems to be...kosher? Let me know if I'm missing anything thank you!

So, I'm a total lore whore, and I felt like I dissecting this, because lore.

What many people fail to realize is that, with League's storytelling, particularly with their alternate universes, rather than releasing actual short stories or little cinematics, they usually rely upon visual storytelling. Often, this is through champion's ingame models and abilities, and also within their splash arts, and this is no more present than with the newest addition of Immortal Journey skins. The skins that are important to this discussion are Majestic Empress Morgana, Enduring Sword Talon, Divine Sword Irelia, Valiant Sword Riven, and Splendid Staff Nami.

What we know of the story so far is that, Morgana, seeks Talon's draconic power, which was sealed away by Irelia, whom had sealed it away after defeating Talon in a fight. We also know that, after having been defeated in a fight by Morgana, the seal, Irelia, had placed began to weaken, and some of Talon's draconic power was reintroduced into the world, with Nami having gained an unknown portion of it, herself having originally been a koi fish. Here's their skin bios, just for evidence.

Splendid Staff Nami: "When the demigoddess Irelia was bested by a heavenly empress, the seal over Talon's draconic power began to weaken... allowing some of his magic to leak into the world. Once a mere fish who dreamed of being a dragon, Nami has received some of this power, and has found her true form beginning to awaken."

Majestic Empress Morgana: "A feared sorceress queen from the heavenly kingdoms, Morgana looked on with disdain as Irelia sealed away the power of a dragon. Crushing her in combat, Morgana soon realized the young demigoddess had hidden that power away, and now ruthlessly searches for a way to return it to its rightful owner."

Divine Sword Irelia: "Long ago, the demigoddess Irelia challenged a headstrong dragon king to a duel, defeating him before all the members of his assembled court. In his hubris, he lashed out at her, and in return she sealed his power within her sacred blade, so that he might find humility among humankind."

Enduring Sword Talon: "A haughty dragon king of the south seas, Talon accepted a duel from the demigoddess Irelia, only to be defeated in his own throne room. Humiliated, he lashed out at her… and she sealed his power within her blade, tasking him with finding new purpose in the mortal realm."

Hello everybody!

I'm an avid sports fan, go Sox and Bulls, but I've been recently getting more interested into hockey. There's not much information online/YouTube about hockey, which sucks, so I figured Reddit was the next best option. I decided to get more into hockey and I've been putting the Hawks game on when I've been studying lately, and let's just say that not much homework is getting done lol.

I was just wondering if anyone could give me a rundown of the last 5ish or so years when it comes to the Hawks. Future plans, who to watch out for, good prospects, who I should trade for in my fantasy draft NHL 21 franchise, etc... Thank you guys so much! Go Hawks!
