What do I seek for :
I've learnt english for a long time, but it doesn't useful, so now I wanna practice my english by learning the other languages & cultures, communicate or make friends with you guys.
No matter how's your english, no matter where you from, no matter what languages you speak.... , that's not a problem, the most important are to get rid of fear and get off your comfort zone, "Life begins at the end of comfort zone", maybe you talk, ask, discuss..... any questions and issues, I'll do my best to solve your doubts.
And I have discord so we can talk easily or you want to use another way to contact, that's all fine.
So... Actions speak out louder

Hi
My wife is from Yangmei and she really wants me to learn mandarin now. I can pay - I'm UK based so would need maybe someone from here though not a must have
Would be 1-1 zoom call.
Hi all, I am a native English speaker and Iโve been looking to work on my Mandarin skills and if possible, learn to speak some Taiwanese.
Hi! I'm a 24-year-old girl originally from Taiwan. I'm looking for someone who can point out my mistakes and help me improve my German (which is at a very basic level right now!). In return, I can help you with Mandarin. My friend who studied Chinese at university always came to me for help and we always had so much fun together, and I love teaching her to write traditional characters!
My timezone is GMT+12, it'd be great if we could practise together at least twice a week. Please DM me if you are interested! :)
Hello! There is a restaurant run by an older auntie and uncle whom I appreciate dearly, but we cannot communicate well. My fiancรฉ & I both believe they are Taiwanese based on their dialect and foods... Could anyone please help us translate a letter into characters for them? They are so kind.
Hello
We have been coming to your restaurant for a year now. We would come more often, but it is a 1 hour drive for us. We wanted to let you know that your restaurant is like home; when we are sad, your noodles are our comfort food. In Mรฉxico, we have a saying, "panza llena, corazรณn contento." It means "full belly, happy heart." Thank you for being here. We hope you keep this restaurant for as long as you want to have it.
Thank you
I want to touch up on my Chinese again but I haven't seen any language learning apps (preferably free) that include Traditional Chinese. I feel like they're hidden somewhere online but I just can't seem to find any.
I know thereโs not a whole lot of difference between it and Mainland Mandarin, but I still want to see somewhere where we can see vocabulary, pronunciation, and some grammar as itโs used in Taiwan.

For example, they donโt say ไธญ zHong, they say zong; they donโt say ๆฏ sHi, they say si; etc. What is this called? Slang? Accent?
Hi everyone - my in laws are from Taiwan and Iโm committing to learning mandarin at a basic conversational level so I can better communicate with my father in law as he ages. Weโre also planning on taking trips to visit family in Taiwan with our children and would like be able to help pass this knowledge to them.
I know the traditional resources mentioned here for getting started, but does anyone have any suggestions that are specific to Taiwanese mandarin (listening comprehension, learning tools, general advice, etc.)?
Hello! I'm a Linguistics student at the University of North Texas, and for my senior capstone project I'm looking at native language perception of English texts. Anyone over 18 whose native language is English, Mandarin Chinese, or Taiwanese is welcome to join. The survey is entirely in English, and it should only take about 15 minutes. Thank you so much!
Iโm a Male from California, USA.
Iโm a big language nerd and I also enjoy biking, playing video games, reading, Batman, martial arts, and more!
Send me a message or leave a comment here and we can chat and get to know eachother.
I'm thinking of moving to Kaohsiung for a year but I've heard stories of Kaohsiung locals mostly speaking taiwanese and sometimes even getting annoyed when they're talked to in mandarin. My mandarin is decent and I want to improve it in a city where people won't automatically talk to me in english when they see my face (which is why I probably won't move to Taipei even though more people speak mandarin than taiwanese).
Are these stories true and if so do you think I'll have trouble getting around only speaking decent enough mandarin ?
โi took an elective chinese course this semester and our teacher was taiwanese, so she taught us traditional characters(she was a great teacher). i have learned about 100+ characters and i really love it. i want to travel to taiwan one day, so i want to continue learning taiwanese mandarin too. but i also want to learn mandarin with simplified characters because it probably would benefit me more, careerwise.
so what do you recommend me doing, stop learning trad characters and start again with simplified or continue learning both?
I want to do a study abroad program in Taiwan when the pandemic is over because I'm really interested in the culture. I don't speak Chinese but I'm willing to learn. But I'm curious to know if mainland chinese is very different from the Tawainese dialect. Because I'm worried if I take a standard mandarin class I'll not be able to understand anyone in Taiwan. So should I look for classes or resources to learn Taiwanese Chinese or just regular Mandarin.
I would like to go to Taiwan sometime when COVID is "over" and learn Mandarin and/or Taiwanese Hokkien.
I wanted to know if they teach the Taiwanese Mandarin accent in the schools? I want to also learn traditional characters rather than simple characters.
Is Taiwanese Hokkien taught to foreigners in schools?
(I'm a polyglot and I don't think there's a "useless" language, I don't want to hear that I should learn Mandarin over Taiwanese. I learn languages as a hobby.)
