When asked if the Crew could repeat, Rob Stone and Stu Holden both agreed, yet Alexi Lalas said that they don't deserve to be held in the same conversation as the Galaxy team that repeated, and that last year was an "Asterisk year" so it didn't count. Someone pass this along to Caleb Porter for some extra motivation
I would have a daughter
The funeral director was asking us what we think Mum should wear in her casket.
Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.
The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:
"What's sarong with that?"
I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).
His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.
--Edit-- I appreciate the condolences. I'm doing well and the worst is behind me and my family. But thanks :)
--Edit-- Massive thanks for all the awards and kind words. And the puns! Love 'em.
But Bill kept the Windows
True story; it even happened last night. My 5-year-old son walks up behind me and out of the blue says, "hey."
I turn to him and say, "yeah, kiddo? What's up?"
He responds, "it's dead grass."
I'm really confused and trying to figure out what's wrong and what he wants from me. "What? There's dead grass? What's wrong with that?"
.
.
.
He says, totally straight-faced, "hay is dead grass," and runs off.

The cast:
I run a homebrew D&D 5e campaign that focuses heavily on roleplay, where combat is less about winning and loot and more about character development and overcoming great odds, furthering the story, and so on. Often I have boss encounters that seem dangerous and unwinnable, but my clever players can easily turn the tide and persevere, overcoming the odds, just by thinking outside the box.
For example, during one arc the party was tasked with stopping the Queen of the Trolls, who was poisoning the water table with the cursed tears of homebrewed undead called Gloomwalkers that had the effect of turning people who looked at the water or drank it into stone. At one point, they found a homebrewed Potion of Everlasting Joy, which had the effect of curing depression, though it could only be made from ingredient from the celestial plane of the goddess of love and joy, so it was incredibly rare.
They remembered they had the potion and poured it into the water table via an underground river, healing the land and reversing the petrification effect. They were then confronted by the queen. During the battle, the wizard in clever thinking used the Tidal Wave spell, taking the water from the water affected by the potion. When it hit the queen of the trolls, it permanently disabled her regeneration as well as dealing damage.
(In case you're wondering, yes, this was inspired by that one episode of the Neverending Story Animated Series!)
This is how I run my encounters, they seem dire, but quick thinking on the part of the players can easily turn the tide. (No pun intended.)
They really seem to enjoy this. As a matter of fact, Dustin, who has been playing D&D for a little over ten years now, has openly said multiple times that I'm a genuinely good DM, which for someone who just started DMing back in December 2020... It's hard to describe the sort of feeling of accomplishment that gives when having gone into such an intimidating and seemingly arduous role.
Also as a DM running a roleplay D&D 5e campaign, I like to give my players agency

They are groundbreaking. They are iconic. They fuse electronica with rock in a way that has been often imitated, but never duplicated. They are profound. They are dirty. They channel your passion and your pain and make them into music.
This week we are looking at the one and only Nine Inch Nails.
About them
Take the Clash and Public Enemy and Ministry and U2 and Prince and King Crimson and Devo and Skinny Puppy and put them all in one gigantic blender.
Congrats, you sick murdering fuck, you are going to jail for all time.
Also, you managed to blend together completely disparate and different musical influences to create something brand new. Youβve made rock with an industrial edge; techno with real melody and lyricism; keyboards and samples that are actually cool rather than lame. And if you didnβt get so focused on your kill streak there, you might have become as cool as our boy Trent.
One of the first things you have to know about NIN is that there really is only one Nail: Trent Reznor himself. Like our very own Josh Homme, he is the only continuous member of the band. When NIN were selected for the Rock βnβ Roll Hall of Fame in 2020, Reznor was going to be the only one inducted...until he insisted that the Hall take some specific bandmates too. BTW, that induction has not happened yet due to some kind of plague or something. IDK, I donβt watch much TV.
Reznor has had many other bandmates who have been in and out of NIN, and has had long standing collaborations with many of them - especially Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder. But for the purposes of this write up, we are just going to focus on Reznor himself.
Trent Reznor was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania in 1965. His parents divorced when he was six. He went to live with his m
