A list of puns related to "Storm Constantine"
Sad news Storm's books were great.
I got to drinking with her a few times at cons she was wonderful in person too.

Very odd sexually ambiguous androgynous "new human" stories. Also a publisher.
I read her series in the 1990s.
It’s time for another entry in /u/The_Real_JS ‘s excellent underappreciated authors threads. I’m here to talk about gothic queen Storm Constantine. Do you like your prose lush and verbose? Do you like your plots deeply strange and aggressively weird? Do you need more tragic and fantastic characters in your life? But most of all, do you want to read about some really weird sex?
Well, my friends. Storm Constantine is here.
Her books are unabashedly esoteric and erotic, and when they started to fall out of print and when publishers decided she was getting too weird to publish, do you know what she did? She rolled up her elbow length black satin gloves and started her own motherfucking imprint. (Which publishes authors like Tanith Lee).
You have to admire her commitment to her own unique, weird vision. But what I admire even more, despite how weird her book can be (and trust me, some of them get weird. Like, trans-dimensional psychic space horses kind of weird) they never stop being good stories and the trick lies in her skill with characters. No matter how strange the plots get, her characters always remain real and engaging enough to carry it and keep the reader on board.
You want me to shut up and actually tell you about some books? Ok!
She is undoubtedly best known for her Wraeththu series (which apparently spawned a game?). The first was published in ’87:
The Enchantments of Flesh and Spirit. The scene is early 90s flavoured apocalypse. Think Tank Girl meets Mad Max. A new breed of man has emerged, known only as Wraeththu. Wraeththru are beautiful, hermaphroditic creatures who are superior to men in all ways. (Well, so they like to think. One of the fun things is watching them but just as flawed as humans, but just in different ways). But life on Pelaz’s dusty farm continues much as it always has. Until mysterious, beautiful Calanthe shows up looking for a place to spend the night. Calanthe is a gorgeous character. He’s an arch beauty, full of acid sarcasm and a carefully constructed façade of cool. He also promptly kidnaps Pelaz and takes him off to be turned into Wraeththru.
Only men can be turned into Wraeththru, but does this make Wraththru men? This is a question these books explore from all sides. Physically the Wraeththru are hermaphrodites, and the book does

Obviously this contains spoilers for the entirety of Misfits and also the most recent episode of The Flash. I've completely ignored the comics here.
In The Flash and Misfits, the main characters both gain their powers after being struck by lightning from a freak storm that the explanation for is kind of fuzzy (of course, it's explained in The Flash eventually but still). The powers gained by the characters reflect their personality or something to do with what they were doing at the time of the explosion, for example, Barry explains the reason he gained superspeed was because he was always running away from things, which has parallels with, for example Nathan, who gained his because he didn't let anything hurt him.
In Misfits it's never explained exactly what the storm was, but considering it only had an effect on a small area of London, like the particle accelerator, it's not too far fetched to maybe say that there could have been a similar incident somewhere in the UK. They do have quite a few research facilities and this is an alternate universe. The storm caused by the UK particle accelerator may not have been directly linked to the storm like the Central City one and the fact that no one ever came forward with superpowers helped, and also, the characters of The Flash might not have heard about an incident because it was British.
There was one episode (well actually there were a lot but hey! misfits) that didn't make a lot of sense and that was the demon episode in season 5 (for those who only watched the first few seasons, Finn gets possessed by an "agent of satan" which appears to be a demon of some sort ). It is implied that it is from the storm but there are approximately zero answers as to what the storm actually is so we don't know. How does this connect to the Flarrow universe? Arrow season 4 introduces the supernatural specifically 4x05 which retconned Constantine into the same universe. Finn being possessed doesn't necessarily look like any demon we saw on Constantine
Finally, the timeline matches up pretty well. If we place the shows' timelines roughly when they aired that places the last episode of Misfits (late 2013) about halfway through season 2 of Arrow. One of Misfits' main ideas is that despite the characters having superpowers, they are nowhere near superheroes ("In what kind of fucked up world would that be allowed to happen?"). The first episode of Misfits (2009) is before any idea of a real "superhero" entered this world, and d

TL;DR: a race of magical hermaphrodites take over after mutating from and overpowering humanity, and eventually form their own cultures and religions. Grimoire Dehara is an exploration of the system of magic and ritual practice based on the Wraeththu series, especially the second trilogy and other stories.
Has anyone here worked with this style of magic or the dehara? Googling through blogs and websites isn't turning up much in the way of written experiences, so I'm wondering if anyone here has worked with it.

So, how exactly did the Entente powers survive 1942 and end up winning the war?
We have been discussing the Second Weltkrieg in our high school class this last week (spoiler I live in New England so we have a lot more to talk about then the rest of the country) and when we reached 1942 I was thrown for a loop. In class we went from the German collapse in early 1942, to the Entente capture of Rome, the raid on Ireland, and victory in India, all of which takes place at the least 6 months after the fall of Berlin. So, what happened in the meantime? How did the Entente pull through the fall of the Reichspact and survive enough to start winning?
*****
Wow! What a great question, and one that is often glanced over in many public school settings and popular discussions of the war. Unfortunately for you and a lot of other students of the Second Weltkrieg, we are painted a much rosier picture of Entente victories then was actually the case. The Entente's "noble crusade" to reclaim Europe from the Totalist Menace was constantly fueled by the blood of hundreds of thousands of her soldiers, especially in the crucial year of 1942. It is often easy to forget that following the Second Weltkrieg, France, for instance, was so exhausted with war as a whole that throughout the 1950's their primary diplomatic focus was to avoid costly entanglements the world over. (Much to the chagrin of their British allies) As you pointed out, before the Entente could secure those crucial victories mentioned above, there was a six month period where the Entente could only hope to survive against the incoming onslaught of the victorious Communard forces from the North. They had to buy this survival with some of the greatest sacrifices they would make yet.
A small side note, we will be following this answer through the perspective of Republican France throughout this period, whenever you read "Republican forces" think of them. This makes sense to me, a historian, because the French were the most heavily engaged member of the Entente, who also took command of the majority of the more important fronts during the war in Europe especially. If history is written by the victor, the victor is most definitely the one who sacrificed the most for that victory.
So without further ado, let me try and answer you the question you essentially ask: How did the Entente powers survive after the fall of Berlin?
Background
*"We needed a Napoleon, a Trafalgar, and a Leipzig just to survive. W

... keep reading on reddit ➡There are multiple incidents of robberies being accomplished by the use of a “knockout gas” or “sleeping gas.” However, many experts state that knocking people out with such a gas is very unlikely. Experts claim would be incredibly difficult to amass a large quantity of gas, and impracticable to administer it. They are also usually unable to identify what gas could be being used. As such, the reports of “knockout gas” robberies is largely written off as an urban myth.
Here is a collection of reports from Europe that I could locate about potential “knockout gas” robberies going back more than 20 years. There are some commonalities in the reports. For example, all of the victims were asleep when robbed. Most were wealthy and on vacation. Most victims reported feeling out of sorts in the morning. Rarely did anyone awaken during the robbery despite the perpetrators often breaking in and ransacking the place. Still, there is much skepticism that any kind of knockout gas could be used for such attacks.
GAS ATTACK REPORTS
May of 2002 - Cannes, France
British television stars Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine were in Cannes for the film festival when they were robbed of jewelry and cash. They believed they were gassed, perhaps with chloroform, while they slept in a rented villa.

May of 2006 - Cannes, France
Former Arsenal footballer Patrick Vieira said he and his family (wife and two kids) were knocked out by gas during robbery of their home in Cannes. Jewelry and cash was stolen. The robbers also stole Mr. Vieira’s Mercedes and used it as a getaway car. The Vieira family reported feeling unwell when they awoke and called police. Five men were eventually arrested for this crime, although the type of gas used was not identified. Reports say the gas was likely pumped into the house through the home’s air conditioning system, although there is no account of a confession by the perpetrators.

>Valdor entered the arming chamber. A dozen attendant serfs were waiting for him, each bearing a piece of his armour. Some articles were supported by two or more pairs of hands, given the weight of the individual auramite segments, and all shone with a glassy, almost dazzling lustre.

>In the earliest days of the long campaign, even the Legio Custodes had not worn this gold. They had made do with what could be provided by the fledgling state they had been created to protect, and their weapons and protection had been almost as crude as those they had fought against. Slowly, slowly, the artifice had increased. Techwrights and artisans were brought to the Sigillite’s orbit and pressed into more strenuous service than they had known before. Old skills were recovered, new techniques devised. The new ceramic compounds used in protective war-plate were the greatest leap forward – stronger and more heat-resistant than their metallic counterparts, and capable of being tooled with incredible precision. Motive power could be coupled effectively to the machined units, giving the wearer precise control over the level of power assistance. Many warlords on Terra employed versions of so-called ‘power armour’, but none of them had access to anything like this.
>
>So when Valdor looked at his armour now, he saw the way every component fitted perfectly against his flesh, the way every component slotted perfectly against the others. Every sinew-link, every fibre-bundle, every synapse-jack – they were all works of art, tailored to him alone and wearable by no other soul. Once donned, the division between armour and wearer was more a matter of semantics than anything else – for all practical purposes, they became one unit, a seamless amalgam of genebred muscle and lab-wrought nanotechnology.
The 4th wall
Giddy
Giddy is an understatement. He was excited, and anxious. He had a torrent of emotions powering his every step, his every command. His command deck was bleak, minimalistic, yet grand. Like the war room, he modelled this one after NERV headquarters to remind everyone there of the reality. And he found it rather fitting in this context. Angry gods knocking at humanity's door, a pyrrhic victory the only positive outcome, but a beautiful battle for survival assured. He looked over his panels, the fleet was ready. The President smiled a manic smile, for this was humanity in their element, like it or not. Dread and horror were soon to follow, sure, but those were emotions to be felt in the moment, not now. 100 trillion humans were currently manning about half a billion ships, fortifications on planets, and space stations. About a quadrillion drones from microchip sized sensors to moon size haulers were doing logistics and adding guns to the line. This would have never been possible, but our tech seemed to compound with the tech of the other universes, meaning we could essentially double productivity infinitely with the help of the literal magic 3d printers. Now we have nanite tech, magicrafts, and a whole suite of new toys to fuck around with. All of the men had nanite iron man suits and runes engraved on top of their existing augments, making them comparable to an astartes from the lore, if not more of a mass production version of them. Cheaper, but not as strong mentally or physically. But still more than enough. In the other universes the other armies stand, much much smaller but heavy hitters. Especially now with their upgrades. The armies of middle earth were especially imposing. After their literal god called for a crusade they all laid down their things and took up arms. In the two months orso since the war room meeting, we have helped them like the others but unlike the others who took our technology as is, they made it their own. The supes printed the same ships we use because they knew they worked, but looking at images of the skies of middle earth is something wholly different. Each race took the formats of ship design and made their own; long sleek golden ships, elven, very fast very sneaky very deadly; Short and stubby but massive in size are the dwarven ships, they learned our hammer and anvil strategy and took it upon themselves to make the best anvils; and the humans? Well the humans had the important task of being tolerated b
